I know this is gonna go over as well as a fart in church...

But watching old Geroge Carlin stand up videos, I really haven't found anything that he did as being "hilarious". I understand how important he was to stand up comedy and I respect his contributions, but I never really found him all that funny. Am I the only one (probably am)

I know what you're saying. It doesn't make him any less great... It's like how I feel about Lewis Black. He's great to listen too, and I enjoy his stuff, but I don't find him hilarious, and I dont laugh at him constantly.

Who are some of your favorite comedians? (PLZ don't say Jeff Dunham)

Gertner 06-28-2008 01:22 PM

David Tyree, Chris Rock, Martin Lawerence, Russel Peters.....and guilty pleasures...Bill Engvall and Jeff Foxworthy.

You're funnier than just about all of the people you just listed, Gertner. Good one.

His books are amazing.

Russel Peters is the man.

Yeah I honestly never found George Carlin particularly FUNNY. Like he was entertaining to listen to and stuff but not particularly rofl funny.

The Franchise 07-03-2008 04:36 PM

Peters is my favorite comedian of all-time.

I never found Carlin that funny either... he is more observational laughs (if that is a thing...) lol

Reavant 07-03-2008 05:32 PM

If you listen to Carlin now hes not saying or doing anything special but back in the day when he was fresh, him and pryor were really the first to push the limit of comedy and raunch it up.

Penner 07-04-2008 02:29 PM

Yeah. Like he's funny. But when he died all of these people acted like he was the best thing EVER. Like he was funny, but like AAA said, I never like ROFL'd or anything.

Fox 07-05-2008 12:49 AM

I reiterate, his books are amazing. "Brain Droppings" and "Napalm and Silly Putty" taught this boy a thing or two when he was in middle school.
