Is the Wheelchair a Heat Machine
What's your opinion on this? I was thinking how over Vicki was this past Monday night and she's been pretty over on Smackdown from what I've read and seen sometimes.
Then it got me thinking how people have always recieved major heat while in wheelchairs for a long period. Pillman in ECW in 96 Bret in WWF in 97 Vince in WWF in 98 I've come to the conclusion that people hate heels, but they really hate heels who are bound to the chair |
Does that mean Christopher Reeve was the biggest heel of all time?
we're talking about the wrestling industry here legend, the wrestling industry.
but to answer your question, Reeve kind of annoyed me every time I saw him on TV in the chair. so yes, he may have been |
I can understand that.

At first I didn't want her on tv. Luckily for me, I barely watched Smackdown. Lately I've been checking it out a little more and it would be stupid to take her off tv. She probably gets more heat than anyone in WWE currently.
I remember when Bret was in the ring in the wheelchair with HBK and he was just tearing into him left and right. Calling HBK a baby and a fag probably. And the audience was heated and then HBK superkicked Bret right out of the wheelchair and the place went nuts
Linda never got heat.
Well if Super CENA is a tweener and Reeve is in a wheelchair as superman, which is very ironic btw, maybe that pushed him over the line toward heeldom
I agree. FDR was the worst president ever and he was a wheelchair bound cripple.
It is mostly has to do with wheelchairs being a literal and metaphorical crutch. Bob Orton had that cast, D'Lo had the chest protector, Vickie has a wheelchair, which all are both literal and metaphorical crutches. It shows them having either unfair advantages or a way to hide behind them. And that pisses people off to no end.

Stephen Hawking got big pops both times he made Simpsons cameos.
Edit: This could have been due to his cool robo-voice... |
Angle was also wheelchair bound for awhile and drew pretty big heat, but that may have been because he had Luther Reigns standing behind him at all times.
I don't think the wheelchair has anyhing to do with Vicky's heat. I think her heat has to do with how annoying her voice is and how bad an actor she is.
oh yea, forgot about Angle. good call.
Also, you realize Vickie has done something no one else in the Guerrero family had done. She is the top heel in a major promotion. Eddie, Chavo Jr, Chavo Sr, Gory, nor Hector have ever gotten as big of pops/heat that Vickie gets, and she is doing it in a dead period.
Freddy Blassie got pops when he came out in his cheater chair.
Owen with his cast was annoying too!
yeah that idiot with one leg made me wanna break my tv!!!! fuck you GOWAN!
Yeah, the wheelchair definitely generates heat, especially when its blatantly obvious that she can walk fine but she chooses to sit in the chair to try and generate sympathy and not get beat up by the faces.
But I think most of her heat comes from her godawful voice...she kills like 5 minutes every show just by milking all of the boos from her blaring out "EXCUSE ME!!!!!" but it works because you just want to see someone rip out her vocal chords...so yeah, her heat is annoying but effective. |
snitsky should have come out in a wheelchair on monday night against Cm Punk
The wheelchair is definitely a part of it, but Vickie, whether she means to or not, is doing other things right as well.
Also, let's not forget about Lex Luger's steel plated forearm. |
Vickie is everything that a non-wrestling heel should be.
If just the sound of her voice can set the fans off then she's doing her job right. She's this mega bitch who (and this part is legit in my book) shouldn't be where she is based on her own work. She's a bland face, but her "EXCUSE ME!!" is in-fucking-credible! She's a frail trash talker who has other people do her dirty work. Hell, I mark out for Vickie. |

I always figured the only reason Vickie had a job was due to the unforseen loss of income in her husband's death. She had appeared with WWE while he was still alive, but does anybody know if she actually had any interest in becoming a more prominent figure before Eddie's tragedy?
On the subject of wheelchairs has there ever been an angle where the person in the chair didn't suddenly get a miracle and were able to walk without it? Think they've all pretty much ended that way have they not?

This heat needs to go somewhere, though. I'm interested to see where the WWE takes her character. |
