How many times has this been done? I faintly remember Bret doing it to HBM in '97 but aside from that...

I think I remember seeing it twice.

The figure four was epic, though. Someone needs to break that out.

Seen him do it to Stone Cold and seen him break it out a few times in WCW.

The figure four around the ringpost was indeed epic, though. He'd just hang there, people would try to get him off, and he'd just be like "Screw you, I'm Bret Hart".

Were you originally talking about the ring post figure 4 in your first post? If so then i misunderstood.

I've only ever seen Bret do one move on the ring post, which I assumed was the sharpshooter. I thought maybe the people who were talking about him doing the figure four were actually talking about the sharshooter. So maybe I've just never seen him do the figure four on the post.

He's done the figure 4 on the ring post plenty of times far as my knowledge goes.

Yeah I was referring to the figure four in my first post and thought people were just calling the same thing with different names.

Yeh, sharpshooter looked really weak. In fact the normal sharpshooter looks more painful.

the figure around the ring post was a genius move by Bret. That sharpshooter looked pointless. IT would have been better if he put his opponent into the sharpshooter then put his feet on the bottom rope

Honestly, it would have been better if he did it on the turnbuckle and then stood on or kneed their back or something. That's just too awkward a position to pull off. May have been a bit better if he had stairs there for footing though.

Ok so I finally got to see the video and I had totally forgotten about him doing the sharpshooter on the ring post! I guess the figure four is the one I was most familiar with.
