Smackdown Spoilers *2 new matches added for Summerslam*

WWE SmackDown: (Airing Friday)

* The show opens with highlights from last week's Wedding and the Great American Bash.

* The MVP Lounge starts off the show with Jeff Hardy as his guest. Jeff Hardy received a huge pop.

* A battle royal is announced to determine the number one contender for Triple H's WWE Championship at WWE SummerSlam. Jeff Hardy, Big Show, Umaga, The Great Khali, Mr. Kennedy and others are confirmed for the battle royal.

* MVP starts talking about Jeff Hardy's suspension, losing the IC Championship, his house burning down and dog dying. MVP says that Jeff Hardy ruining his career with his behavior and he should be acting more professional and take some responsibility. Hardy then ends up pushing MVP down to the ground, ending the segment.

* US Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Jimmy Wang Yang is up next.

Benjamin won the match with his finisher.

* Edge and the Edgeheads are backstage. The Edgeheads basically blow Edge off.

* Festus defeated. Curt Hawkins

Festus was in control through most of the match. After the match, Zack Ryder came into the ring and started attacking Festus with Curt Hawkins

Next is a promo with Edge talking to Alicia Fox with Bam Neely eavesdropping.

* Vladimir Kozlov vs. Stevie Richards.

Richards gets quite a bit of offense in, but Kozlov wins another one. Richards looks like he may have hurt his arm but Philly applauds him.

* Next is the main event, a six man battle royal with the winner facing Triple at Summerslam

* The Great Khali b. Ken Kennedy, Jeff Hardy, MVP, Big Show, and Umaga to win the battle royal.

MVP is eliminated first. Big Show eliminates Umaga and then Kennedy. Khali vs. Big Show as Hardy slumps in the corner. Umaga comes back in and hits Big Show with the thumb. The ref orders him to the back. Kennedy is eliminated by the Big Show. Big Show is then eliminated by Jeff Hardy. The Great Khali gets the win by eliminating Jeff Hardy. Runjin Singh returns. Triple H comes out to confront Khali.

* A Ron Killings promo airs. He will be coming to SmackDown soon.

* Michelle McCool defeated. Maryse

McCool won by getting Maryse to tap in her leg submission.

* Vickie arrives at SmackDown with Chavo Guerrero wheeling her in.

* Maria will be debuting on SmackDown next week.

* Brian Kendrick defeated. Shannon Moore

Kendrick comes out with Ezekiel and cuts a promo. Moore is initially over matched by the hyper aggressive Kendrick. Moore is distracted by Ezekiel. Kendrick hits a reverse backwards bulldog-type move for the win.

* Up next is Edge's public apology to Vickie. He comes out to the ring and calls out Vickie. She is wheeled out by Chavo. Vickie hugs Edge and tells him she forgives him. She then says that hell hatch no fury like a woman scorn. She tells Edge she has reinstated the Undertaker and that he will face him at SummerSlam in a Hell in a Cell match.

RON KILLINGS IS HEADED TO SMACKDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I NOW HAVE A SOLID REASON TO WATCH SMACKDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT'S UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not gonna lie to you, that's the greatest thing since D'Lo going to Raw.

Juan 07-22-2008 11:22 PM

Doesn't Ron Killings... um suck?

FourFifty 07-22-2008 11:25 PM

Ron Killings does NOT suck!!!!

...albeit I had a conversation about him with my sister (who isn't a wrestling fan). I said he was awesome because he sang his own theme music.... to which she responded "So does John Cena."
I was pwnd right there on the spot.

Nah, he's good. If you like unorthodox guys like jeff hardy, and rvd, you'll like killings.

Seriously. Out of all the choices they have, they pick khali. Anyone else in that battle royal would have been better. HHH vs khali would be alright for a minor ppv, but Summer Slam? Come on.

RP 07-22-2008 11:52 PM

SummerSlam? Really? Khali vs HHH for summerslam? Do they not want me to buy a ticket? Is this whats going on? Someone please tell me. Are they not trying to sell this pay per view? Seriously.

SammyG 07-22-2008 11:54 PM

Taker/Edge Hell in a Cell? I like!

thedamndest 07-23-2008 12:04 AM

A fifteen minute HHH promo would be better than Khali.

Honestly I think they are doing that so they can give Edge vs. Taker HIAC top billing.

I don't mind really, actually I think that just sold me on going.

Innovator 07-23-2008 12:17 AM

There goes my hope of MVP vs. HHH

Innovator 07-23-2008 12:17 AM

for now

RP 07-23-2008 12:17 AM

They could have ran a Jeff Hardy vs HHH program that would have written itself.

RP 07-23-2008 12:22 AM

Thats just retarded to be honest. Theres no way around it. Its plain retarded. Whoever does the booking for these clowns needs to be shot in the face in front of his family. Its that retarded. Vince McMahon obviouls has no fucking clue because if he did, that shit would not be happening. Khali ( god love him ) should be nowhere near a main event match. Whats being accomplished here? If they're trying to give Khali a rub, it wont work. He wont do nothing with it and they wont write him in any intresting storylines. Whats the point.

Thats the question here. Whats the point? Whats is being accomplished here? Do the writers or bookers even ask themselves this question? If so, this match would not be happening cause the obvious answer is nothing. Nothing is being accomplished. Khali isnt beating HHH and he sure is hell aint gunna be made to look good in this match and even if he is made to look good, it will be forgotten about the next night. Not by the fans, but by the writers and bookers and owners. So again I must ask. What the fuck is the point? This is Summerslam. This isnt Vengance. These people have no fucking clue what they're doing. Its tragic. I cant wait for wrestling to die.

Splaya 07-23-2008 12:50 AM

Well this eliminates the theory of the elimination chamber at SummerSlam.

Londoner 07-23-2008 12:54 AM

hhh v khali=retarded

taker/edge HITC=just saved the ppv

Seems like an alright show other than khali winning the battle royal.

MVP has not won a match in 3 months (On Smackdown. Beating Tommy Dreamer on Raw does not count.). Next he will be putting Jeff Hardy over.

Ummm, India has become a nice market for the WWE right? Khali brings in most of those people, therefore hes going to be put in these matches from time to time.

Ruien 07-23-2008 01:00 AM

And on a other note.

Everyone has been complaining they see to much of Edge vs Undertaker/Bats. Now we get another match with Edge/Undertaker and you are all happy. They have done all there moves to each other, time and time again. The match will not be bad, but what happened to wanting things fresh? This goes out to everyone that says it will "Save the PPV".

Londoner 07-23-2008 01:17 AM

Ah shut up ruien. You can't have things new all the time, bringing taker back makes sense.

DaVe 07-23-2008 01:27 AM

Khali winning is obviously a massive disappointment. Hopefully they can somehow change this match before the PPV comes round, through whatever angle/story.

And yay for Taker. Slightly anticlimatic comeback, but oh well. Hopefully this angle can develop a lot more before the PPV comes round, too.

Ummm, India has become a nice market for the WWE right? Khali brings in most of those people, therefore hes going to be put in these matches from time to time.

I think Khali is like a superstar there, or something. Tens of thousands came out to Mumbai to see him, and he posed with absolutely MASSIVE superstars like cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Non-Commonwealth-nation citizens probably have no idea who he is, but trust me: Sachin is freaking huge (metaphorically), and hence Khali must be mainstream there.

Londoner 07-23-2008 01:34 AM

I feel sorry for HHH having to compete against khali, why would anyone want to have to waste a match in their title reign v Khali?

Juan 07-23-2008 02:43 AM

I can only hope this HHH/Khali feud ends at SummerSlam :(

Rammsteinmad 07-23-2008 02:50 AM

Any of the other five men in that Battle Royal could have had a good match with Triple H but they went with Khali. And people here bitch about TNA's booking?!

'Taker and Edge in a HIAC should be good. It feels like those few weeks of fresh/edge-of-your-seat storylines has come to a stop on Smackdown.

Also, why is the Battle Royal billed as the main event, only to be followed by a Womens match and Kendrick VS Moore?

Indifferent Clox 07-23-2008 04:56 AM

Ok so far

Hardy v. Henry- this could be decent if Hardy wins it'll be amazing

Jeff v. MVP probably_ good match, I think it'll set up Jeff to reestablish his main event spot

Jesse and Festus v. Edgeheads- Another Decent match we've seen before, but without a clear finish, and now the titles are in there

Edge Taker HIAC- Excellent, this brings a culmination to this long running feud.

HHH v. Khali- It should be cool to see HHH beat Khali and see if HHH can bring Khali to a decent match at all. I think that It's good to have HHH go through a few opponents before he faces Hardy because then instead of us thinking that HHH hasn't held the title long enough to lose it, it'll make us think, can Hardy really win it?

I'd love to see Hardy v. Henry rematch at Survivor Series and Hardy HHH as well
both brothers winning the titles.

Here's what I think the cards will be in all

Cena v. Batista- A match we've been waiting to see

JBL v. Punk- Finally a clean win for Punk hopefully, and since JBL beat Cena, it won't bring JBL down too far, and it'll elevate Punk a lot since JBL did just beat Cena, leading to Cena v. Punk at Survivor Series maybe?

Cody Rhodes and Dibiase JR. v. Cryme Time or Duggan and King- Could be interesting

Benjamin v. Kennedy maybe- it seems reasonable

maybe another y2j HBK match

as for the actual Survivor series match it'll probably be

Miz and Morrison, Dibiase and Rhodes, Edgeheads and Jericho v. some group w/ hbk i have no idea

Its Summerslam

Indifferent Clox 07-23-2008 07:05 AM

Yeah I know. I am just looking ahead.

DaVe 07-23-2008 07:18 AM

LOL Clox.

Londoner 07-23-2008 08:02 AM

wtf clox

Hanso Amore 07-23-2008 08:48 AM

Clox....you booked like 4 PPVs of matches into one card...and I can barely undertsand a thing you have said.

Also, when did they start having 16 man Survivor matches? Or as you booked it...8 vs 1 + someone else.

The CyNick 07-23-2008 09:50 AM

Ive managed to get myself back in the habit of watching RAW most weeks, still cant watch ECW or Smackdown.

So I'll only comment on RAW matches.

It looked like they were setting up Batista vs Cena. Personally I think its wayyyyyyy too soon for that match, and I hope thats not the plan. Unless they plan on doing a heel turn by one of them (Batista) and then they build up to the rematch at Mania. But even then, this match will not get top billing over Taker-Edge, so why waste it here with no build.

Plus, if they book that it totally drops the Kane-Batista issue they have been develping for a few weeks now.

Mr. Nerfect 07-23-2008 10:13 AM

I think the John Cena vs. Batista thing would have been just to tease it.

Having Jeff Hardy win the Battle Royal would have created an interesting parallel between Matt and Jeff Hardy for Summerslam, and given us a WWE Title match that would actually be good, and might get people to want to see the PPV.

Edge vs. The Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match makes sense, seeing as that's where they really got started, The Undertaker needs to be brought back, and Vickie Guerrero is pissed off at Edge. I'm not sure if I'm too keen to see the match, though, even though it will probably be a good one.

Matt Hardy should win the ECW Title at Summerslam.

Innovator 07-23-2008 10:47 AM

I hope they hold off on HBK vs. Jericho and give us Jericho vs. Punk at Summerslam

311 07-23-2008 01:10 PM

Here come the Khali bookings.

H comes down to ringside, does commentary for Khali versus one of the tag teams...maybe Hawkins and Ryder...BAHGAWD KAHLI HAS DESTROYED THE TAG CHAMPIONS! Cut to H looking kind of worried.

Next week H and random superstar versus Khali and random superstar...Khali destroys them after the match...probably a bahgawd DQ.

Khali destroys Nunzio in a squash. H comes out to get Khali, tries to pedigree him and fails because he's too big or something....JR will make sure to BAHGAWD about this.

Smackdown before Summerslam, Khali stands with one foot on Triple H after destroying him as the cameras fadeout and JR is BAHGAWDING.

...sigh.

HHH will probably hit Khali with the sledgehammer at Summerslam. Bahgawd.

I wouldn't even put that on a minor PPV. Having The Great Khali in the WWE is just a waste.

RP 07-23-2008 01:41 PM

They should make a ppv called BAHGAWD!

Fox 07-23-2008 01:49 PM

So, Great Khali won the battle royal.

Big fucking deal, guys. Yes, I do recognize that the guy is not the most athletically gifted man on the SD brand, but he offers a sizeable challenge for Triple H, as he is a fucking giant. It makes anyone look good to beat someone with that kind of advantage, and with few other competitors on the roster (MVP, Kennedy and Umaga are not ready - Jeff needs to rebuild momentum after his suspension - we already know HHH can beat Big Show), what other choice did they have?

I'm basing this off the speculation that they have been planning Edge vs. Undertaker HIAC for at least a month or so. That takes away the two main players on Smackdown for a SS match, but its a top biller and could sell the PPV by itself. The WWE Championship doesn't even NEED to be defended on that show with a match of that magnitude (not to mention that we will probably get some form of Cena vs. Batista and Punk vs. JBL/Kane on RAW), but if you're going to add it, why not use it to make the Champ look strong?

Of course, with it being Triple H, it will probably be the main event.

RP 07-23-2008 01:53 PM

You're not trying to make someone look good at Summerslam. Thats one of the major PPV's. You're trying to put the best show possible on. And the WWE is not doing that. They're stealing your money if you buy that ppv. And none of you will realize that. They're sandbagging right now. They arent giving you the bang for your buck like they should when Summerslam or WM or Survivor Series rolls around. Instead they're giving you The Great Khali in a title match. That shit might have flow back in the 80's, but this is the 2000's. Glad i can just download in the next day. Thank god for the internet. Internet > WWE once again.

That's a matter of opinion though, RP. You and I may see Triple H for what he is, but there are a lot of little kids and teenagers out there who think he's some kind of bad ass King of Kings. Watching him fight a giant like Khali is probably more entertaining to them than watching him fight an MVP or a Kennedy, who WE know are far more entertaining, but who they can't recognize for it.

To some people, The Great Khali vs. Triple H is a big marquee match.

And again, Batista vs. John Cena and Undertaker vs. Edge are going to be the top billers. Those are two huge main events right there.

Though I have to admit its kind of funny that neither of them are Title matches.
