One of my friends saw this and Wackness on back to back days. Said it was funny as hell, but a little bit of a disappointment. Wackness, on the other hand, is supposed to be amazing.

I saw it on Thursday. Both me and my girlfriend were laughing pretty much the entire time. It dragged a bit sometimes, but definitely worth it.

I would probably watch that, but I wouldn't be excited about it.

I was blazed as shit when I saw this, which I believe is a prerequisite. The first half of the movie was hilarious stoner stuff, all the innuendos, mannerisms, jokes etc. were so spot on and you could relate if you smoke. The second half of the movie was a bit of a disappointment, once it actually started to progress with an actual story. Became a little less funny to me.

No you don't. That's ridiculous. I've never smoked weed in my life. And this is still one of the funniest movies I've seen in ages.

I watched it without pot and still enjoyed it immensley, I'm sure if I was High it would have been a million times better though.

But that's not the same thing at all.

If you're a cop watching a cop movie then BAM, you're good, you've got the "experience" and so you may enjoy it more than, oh, say, a politician or a gay hair dresser or an emo, Linkin Park kid.

Just like this movie is MADE with potheads in mind, and so if you have smoked pot before or are actually high upon seeing it, it's probably funnier to you. But if you have NEVER smoked pot before, then shut the fuck up, because you have no reference point. You probably still think you can fly with dogs over fucking Manhattan or that you would feed a horse three bags of junk food when you're high. You're ignorant to highness.

Just like I never really liked "Dazed and Confused" until after I was 13, which was when I started smoking pot and getting into shit.


This is actually a conversation I've had a bunch of times with people at my Film School, cause there's a distinct line in our class between the preppy rich kids who have never smoked weed, dropped acid, taking mushrooms, broken the law, done any of that normal "losing your innocence" sort of shit, and then there are the ones who have, like me.

One half has kids who wear Captain America shields on their school ID badges and who wore Indiana Jones costumes TO SCHOOL the day it came out.

A good movie is a good movie, whatever state of mind you're in. "You need to be stoned" is a really stupid argument. If a movie is only good if you're stoned... it's probably not very good.

I think its ignorant to say you cant fully enjoy a drug movie without being under the influence of the drug or having used the drug.

I've never done obscene amounts of drugs, but I still love Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

It's a fucking movie. Intended... to be... a good... MOVIE. While I think it is kind of funny that you try to take some sort of credit as a pothead for the movie being created, it wasn't written to cater to potheads. It was written to cater to people who like the genre. No movie is written strictly for people who can relate to things the characters do. To get all pissed because people who aren't potheads actually think the movie is funny and claim they need to "shut the fuck up because they have no reference point" is beyond retarded. I really hope you never actually make a stoner movie that you have to promote. "Hey everyone, go see my movie if you're a pothead. It's really well written and the performances are amazing but if you've never gotten high, shut the fuck up and stay out of the fucking theater."

Actually Seth Rogen did write it specifically for potheads, buttttttt it wasn't just for potheads. I mean I can see people enjoying it more if they've smokedpot but it really tranccends the genre of your typical stoner flick

The man knows what he's doing. If he had written the movie specifically for potheads, he wouldn't have put any focus on... you know... plot the way he did. The movie had a plot and actual good writing because the man went to film school. Not "How to entertain stoners" school.

What I said was that people who have BEEN stoned BEFORE, who have experienced it before, would UNDERSTAND the movie, the characters and the situation DIFFERENTLY and possibly BETTER (esp. in the cases of movies like Dazed and Confused, the aforementioned Fear and Loathing, Half Baked) than people who never had been.

Like I said, no reference point. I understand what you're saying and that's fine, I don't care if you smoke pot or not. But still, don't say that the movie isn't influenced by drugs, that it isn't created with drug users in mind, because that's wrong. I never have taken one hit of a joint my whole life. And I still loved this movie enough to see it 3 times . All though yeah, I agree ya might find it funnier if you were stoned. Is it just me or was that movie incrediblely violent for a stoner comedy?

Its not asinine at all. If you have smoked weed before, you can relate to this movie better. You simply don't have the experiences otherwise. The first half of the movie has a lot of stoner innuendos, jokes and such while the second half advances the plot along so that is where a non-smoker can enjoy the movie just as much as a smoker.
