Unlike the usual great PWI 500 lists?
Fair play.
I stopped reading at the first person who was up way to high.... so there's 499 names I didn't read.

How is Shawn Michaels not number one?
There are easily 50 guys better than HBM in 2008 Ben
230 plus wrestlers better than Teddy Hart? 300 odd better than Taka Michinoku?
Speaks for itself really. |
How is Larry Zbyszko on the list? Has he had a match in the last decade?
How is Kurt Angle number 2? I still love the guy, but there are lots of guys who out performed Angle this year. I couldn't find Matt Hardy, but he's been consistently great.
RKO #1
The guy with red hair @ 498? Should be much higher...
BOTH of the Highlanders beat Teddy Hart.
There are so many things wrong with this list and so many inconsistencies, I don't know where to begin, although FoFiddy makes a good point...WTF?? :wtf:
I never really understood what PWI base their top 500 on. If it's based on wrestling ability/quality of matches, no one can possibly be nearly as off as they are on a yearly basis. Popularity as well.
I always assumed it was treated as if wrestling were unscripted, like a kayfabe top 500 in which case it makes much more sense. You've got more WWE/TNA guys near the top because they are "in the big leagues" therefore likely "better" and such... |

I love that Orton is number 1. But in reality, this is only a kayfabe 500. Khali should'nt even be on this list, but because of stuff like tv time and wins, thats how they rank them. Just like with Orton, even though some of his wins were just barely escaping wins, they count them cus of him retaining in those matches.

the guy at #249 should be #1

Nah 377 should be no.1
...Jeff at 18 and Matt at 41?
I love this list! |

Rankings really have nothing to do with in-ring skill. It's based on the wrestler's accomplishments. In that regard, kayfabe is involved. You think it's coincidence that the decline of quality in the annual PWI 500, mirrors the decline in quality of top superstars? The PWI 500 used to be pretty great, from it's first publication, all the way to the attitude era. Mainly because they didn't immediately push guys who are still pretty green to the top, just because they get a few big pops. (Yeah, I realize there were a couple in the past, but not as many as there are now.) So because the list follows kayfabe, they really have to give high spots to people like Cena, Orton and Batista. Which makes the IWC cringe. So it's not really their fault the list sucks. |

Also, it's done by committee. So you probably have lots of different opinions, with lots of compromises in there.
Any Wrestling list without the inclusion of the 'Swog cannot be taken seriously :shifty:
Yeah seriously. As much as a great man Ric Flair is, he wrestled like 5 matches this year and he's number 19 on the list.
Should be no.1 :o

I've not even heard of about 430 of them.

Nigel is in the top 10 which is nice.

And Nigel being in the top 10 is awesome. He is my favorite of all the champions in all the 3 main groups (WWE, TNA, ROH). |
After the first ten guys or so it's basically "type random name here".
I'd say after the first 100 they were just throwing names at the wall.
Flair at 19 and Cena at 9
