Last Concert You went to?

Last show for me was Kingdom of Sorrow/Soilent Green/Anger Within.

Anger Within was a local band. They weren't bad. Did some fun covers of Sepultura and the Misfits' "Where Eagles Dare." (which resulted in some shithead wearing a Hatebreed T-shirt asking who did the "God Damned Son of a Bitch" song?)

Soilent Green was fucking awesome! One of my favorite bands of all time. Even with the monitor going out, they ripped up the live show. Favorite part for me was Ben singing "Tell me a Secret, I'll Tell you a Lie" from Sewn Mouth Secrets at me! (fuck yes!)

Kingdom of Sorrow was good, but not as great as Soilent Green. In case you don't know, Kingdom features Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed and Kirk Windstein of Crowbar. Show featured a crowd surfer hitting Kirk in the mouth while singing and he was pissed. Kirk is generally a nice guy, thank god. I wouldn't want a 300 lb. man with a massive beard pissed at me. Luckily he calmed down (after Jasta repeated said "He didn't mean it." and told stories of his own getting messed up by crowd surfers) and busted out the line of the night:

"I'll buy that guy a beer, make out with him, jerk him off. It doesn't matter!"

THey did most of the material from their album. Not all of it. But they did 2 Crowbar Songs ("All I had I Gave" and "Conquering") and 1 Hatebreed Song ("Last Breath").

Anyway. Meat and potatoes of the thread: Discuss the last Concert you went to.

Tatse of Chaos. The whole floor was packed and the mosh pits were crazy. Got there just as Bullet for My Valentine was starting. They played an amazing set.

Blessthefall played next, but I went to get a drink during their set since I was dripping in sweat and fely dehydrated. I hear they played a good set though.

Atreyu was awesome as always.

Avenged Sevenfold headlined and fucking tore it up. I love those guys.

Where Eagles Dare is an amazing song BTW.

lollapalooza day #1 featuring radiohead. sure i saw some other awesome acts (gogol bordello, manchester orchestra, holy fuck!) but it was fucking radiohead. magical. the light show, the atmosphere, the music. best show i've ever been to, with the exception of sonic youth maybe.

I don't know if I'm getting old (23) or cheap or I just don't like music as much or what, but don't really like going to shows as much anymore. I was gonna go to Peter Frampton at the beginning of August and I think Ted Nugent was here recently but I just couldn't get worked up about it. What's up with that? Alice Cooper is here in a few days. I Probably won't go to that, but to be fair I have seen him every time he has come to town for the last eight tours or so, so I could stand to miss him.

ron the dial 08-21-2008 10:34 PM

oh that sounds like an immensely hot show

The Mask 08-21-2008 10:40 PM

My Bloody Valentine. Was pretty awesome. at the end there was a ridiculous 20-30 minute second of pure loud fucking noise, just white noise louder than you can imagine. bouncers were going around handing out earplugs and i turned them down cause i'm an idiot. after that it took them about literally 10 seconds to end the set and everyone was all WTF and one guy started kicking and screaming and going ape shit, which was great.

also i haggled a tout down from £30 to £15, cause i am the man.

They came to London, Ontario (where I live) in January and I saw that concert. Epic :D

Last show I went to was Edgefest in Toronto. There were like 15 bands but the headliners were Sam Roberts, Stone Temple Pilots and Linkin Park.

PapaGeorgio 08-21-2008 11:40 PM

Saw Tony Clifton last weekend. He went on for 4 hours and 18 minutes. I got on stage. Friend got kicked out (but was let back in 10 minutes later). Easily best show I ever saw, all for 15 bucks.

DaveWadding 08-22-2008 08:06 PM

Went to Reading Festival last weekend (Rage, QOTSA, Get Cape, Anti-Flag, Racounteurs, DPT, Subways, Metallica, The D, Dropkick Murphys, Feeder, Jack Penate, Duke Spirit, BYOP, Blood Red Shoes, Seasick Steve, Manic Street Preachers, Adam Green, Goldfinger, Alkaline Trio, Jeffrey Lewis) and V Festival the week before (Alanis, Maximo Park, Kooks and Stereophonics after an absolute nightmare with trains)
