Worst Catchphrases

What are some of the catchphrases did you hate and the wrestler who used them.

"Because that's... how I roll" Christian Cage
"I'm Kip James BITCH!" Kip James (Dont uderstand how your gonna use a catch phrase you cant say on national TV)
"Treat me like a man" Chyna
"You want some... come get some" Cena (just because he stold a line Rick Stiner used like 5 years before him)
"Because I am... a WRESTLING GOD" JBL

CYCLOPTERSAURUS 08-23-2008 02:51 AM

This probably won't be a popular response, but it always bugged me. He made it work and it got over as fuck, but it never made any sense to me.

"If you smell what the rock is cooking."

At least "Do you smell what the rock is cooking?" was a complete sentence. Rock should have filmed vignettes where he is shown in a kitchen wearing a chef hat with a fake handlebar mustache, where he is over a frying pan cooking something and talking in an Italian accent. That would have rocked.

Also...

"Oh you didn't know? your ass better call somebody!"

Yeah, that makes no sense either.

Afterlife 08-23-2008 02:53 AM

"Somebody call my mama!" ...And tell her what?

OverTaker 08-23-2008 03:12 AM

Oh you better recognize!!

Anybody Thrilla 08-23-2008 09:27 AM

To smell what The Rock was cooking was simply to know what he's talking about. Makes perfect sense to me. I also like how he would pose on the turnbuckles and smell the air. It had nothing to do with actual cooking.

Also, The New Age Outlaws were suggesting that you call somebody that had presumably already had trouble with them to ask them about how bad ass they were so you wouldn't even try to mess with them.

Ernest Miller wanted somebody to call his mother was either saying that she was the only one that could calm him down and change his mind about hurting somebody, OR he was about to go to jail and she would be the call he'd make. I lean more towards the former in this theory.

Now, as far as stupid catchphrases....I'm sorry to say it, becaue it sounded incredibly bad ass the way that Hawk said it, but "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WHAT A RUSH!" is pretty lame when taken for what it really is. They made it work, but it was kinda stupid.

Except it seemed more like, "Somebody call my mama! I'm gonna dance, and I want her to see! You watchin', Mana? Mama! Mama, watch me dance!"

That just makes the catchphrase a million times better.

"POOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNCCCCCCEEEEEEE.....period."

"What?" Got a little old after a while.

"Choke on that, Slapnuts."

Champion of Europa 08-23-2008 04:59 PM

I think he said "Somebody call my mama!" because he was gonna kick some ass and he wanted someone to alert his mother of his ass kicking nature.

Indifferent Clox 08-23-2008 05:03 PM

Dunno bout the worst but "Jamaican Me crazy" is the best.

Xero 08-23-2008 05:27 PM

LOL, wait, Billy actually used "I'm Kip James, Bitch"?!

Terrible.

Lock Jaw 08-23-2008 06:10 PM

"And that's the bottom line... because Stone Cold said so!"

What happens if he wants to say more than one thing?

How dare you?!

Anybody Thrilla 08-23-2008 08:16 PM

You can say all the things you want, but there can only be one bottom line, which was the most important point, which was always the precursor to the catchphrase, so shut up you crazy guy.

Lock Jaw 08-23-2008 09:07 PM

WELL SOMETIMES I LIKE TO SAY MORE THAN ONE THING

thedamndest 08-23-2008 09:13 PM

I had a math teacher that would put on tests "GRAPH THE FOLLOWING LINES 'CAUSE MRS. ROONEY SAID SO." It was pretty awesome.

And that's fine, but out of all of the things you have to say, the most important one (the bottom line) should always be said last, because that's what people will remember most. I'm just trying to help you out here, and that's the bottom line.

NeanderCarl 08-23-2008 09:27 PM

Re: "Oh, what a rush". Hawk would usually say that having just elaborated on the vicious and disgusting things the Road Warriors were going to do to their opponents. "Severed heads, broken bones sticking through your skin, bloody carcasses.... oh, what a rush!"

Just made them seem bloodythirsty. Made perfect sense to me.

As for worst catchphrases...
Chris Benoit with "Prove! Me! Wrong!" was pretty shitty.
Booker T: "don't hate the player; hate the game". Uh... what?
"I'm Suuuuuuper. I'm Craaaaaaaazy. I'm Super Crazy!"
"I love Double Double E" Can't remember if that was Vladimir Koslov or Mike Adamle though.

Vastardikai 08-23-2008 09:28 PM

"Well you know something, brother..."

Afterlife 08-23-2008 09:41 PM

Anytime anyone says "Game over" I damn near roll my eyes right outta my head.

NeanderCarl 08-23-2008 11:16 PM

"I am not a nugget"

The best their was
the best thier is
and the best thier ever will be !!!

Worst ever .................... Period!

JT 08-24-2008 02:51 AM

idk, I always liked the like "Don't hate the player...hate the game!" Granted it didn't originate in wrestling, but made sense to how people refer to wrestling as a game. It was to me like saying "Don't hate me for being better than you."

Partially because you said the line wrong, and actually that's probably one of the greatest lines even (and this is coming from a not-so-big Bret Hart fan). It was to say he was the greatest wrestling in the past, present, and even the future.

El Fangel 08-24-2008 03:06 AM

"Can You Dig It Sucka?"

After watching the warriors, I hated this beyond belief.

DaveWadding 08-24-2008 04:47 AM

If you think about it though, that's a pretty horrible line for the top FACE in the 90's. I mean... shouldn't he have been humble?

Juan 08-24-2008 06:54 PM

You don't have to be humble when you're the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.

Lock Jaw 08-24-2008 07:00 PM

I'll make you humble!

Not always. Sometimes he would say "oh, and one other thing" or something and/or Stun them.

It was more of the next-to-the-bottom line in those cases.
