Two questions...
OK, for some reason my Windows Media Player only seems to work on particular days. Other times, it'll open up and give me the message "Windows Media Player has stopped working" or something, and when I try to diagnose it, it still doesn't work. Anybody know what could be wrong?
Also, just today, when I plug my headphones into my laptop, the sound doesn't come through and it just plays through the computer speakers. I thought it was the headphones, but I tried somebody else's, and the same thing happened. Why the fuck is this happening? Any help would be appreciated. |
Sounds like MP has been corrupted.
Try uninstalling MP and re-installing (if you have original Windows Disk) otherwise (and probably the best idea), try downloading the latest version from Microsoft: Click here for XP Version or Vista Version |
As for your headphones not working, try adjusting your sound settings in Control Panel.
If you have XP - Open Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > (Under Speaker Settings) Advanced > (Under Speaker Setup) select the Headphone option. |
I'll try that. Thanks man.

I know that in Ubuntu, the headphones don't mute the regular speakers by default; you have to manually tell it to ignore the regular speakers when headphones are plugged in. Never heard of it happening in XP though.
