Brock Lesnar NEWS

He will be fighting Randy Couture for the UFC Heavyweight title on November 15 in Las Vegas.

Loose Cannon 09-02-2008 04:54 PM

that's pretty cool and all, but how does he get a shot at the belt?

Rob 09-02-2008 05:06 PM

Because he just beat a contender and he is a massive draw. Should they put in fighters who have zero drawing ability instead?

Y2Ant 09-02-2008 05:06 PM

realmente?

no, I see why they are doing it, but I thought UFC was more legit and had some kind of ranking system in place. Like I wouldn't expect a guy like Lesner to be pushed to the front that quickly.

I welcome the fight because Brock's the man, but it did surprise me

UFC IS REALZ!!!!!

Rob 09-02-2008 05:32 PM

It's still a business. And as a fighter, he dominated the next challenger for the interim title for 89 seconds of a 90 second fight and he absolutely man handled a top contender for 3 rounds.

Kris P Lettus 09-02-2008 05:34 PM

The Heavyweight division is by far the weakest the UFC has.. They brought in Cro Cop to "ignite" it, but he never got used to the cage and got beat a few times, ruining that idea.. Couture came back from retirement to fight Sylvia for the title and dominated him.. He wanted to fight Fedor, who some say is the best HW in the world, but UFC couldn't get the deal done to bring him to America, so Couture, with no "big name" fighters to fight re"retired"..

Lesnar has since come in, dominating his first fight until getting caught by an ankle by a BJJ black belt, and then totally dominated his next fight, making MMA vet Heath Herring look like shit..

It's a big money fight and one of the only options UFC has at HW..

Kris P Lettus 09-02-2008 05:36 PM

It's funny that a bunch of prowrestling fans are questioning the actions of the biggest MMA organisation in the world..

Rob 09-02-2008 05:45 PM

Wrestling fans are anything but hypocrites though.

Shadow 09-02-2008 07:21 PM

Just like the WWE, it's who's going to make the most money in a PPV. Not who's the most deserving. Though for some reason, in UFC at least, the two tend to be one and the same rather then two totally different options.

This one seems to be the latter but I dunno...I'm not that much of a UFC fan.

Fox 09-02-2008 08:12 PM

This is good news. Here's to a Lesnar victory.

Yeah, cause there's no way we could be wrestling AND mma fans.

Ass.

Destor 09-02-2008 08:37 PM

I feel sorry for Brock.

Vastardikai 09-02-2008 09:24 PM

I said it a couple of times, and I'll say it again:

I can see Randy humbling Lesnar.

I can also see Brock Megaton Punching Couture across the cage and manhandling him.

Anybody Thrilla 09-02-2008 09:33 PM

I think it'll be a good fight. Fuck the rankings, LET'S GET IT ON!

Xero 09-02-2008 09:33 PM

I could see them working it because Brock's a pussy.

Anybody Thrilla 09-02-2008 09:38 PM

LIST OF PEOPLE BROCK LESNAR WOULD EASILY DESTROY:

1. Xero Limit 126

That's about all I can think of for now. I'll get back to this later. I promise.

Ninti the Mad 09-02-2008 10:00 PM

I would actually see that PPV if it happens

Yeah, how dare they!

I dunno how much of a chance Lesnar has of actually beating Couture, but i'd love to see that, and i'd still like to see Emelianenko vs. Couture, if that has a better chance of happening now that Couture has sorted out his contract with the UFC? I dunno.

Shaggy 09-02-2008 11:25 PM

From what I heard this isnt exactly a title match,

While technically Couture is the heavyweight champ.....Nogueira is the interim champ since Couture left.

What I heard was that the winner of Couture/Lesnar will go on to face Nogueira sometime next year to crown the undisputed champion.

Dana White said that he didnt want this to be some sort of title match. The reason this match was happening was "to show fans we can make matches that fans want to see."

White also went on to say that he GUARANTEES This will be the fight of the year.

COMING SOON: DANA WHITE'S MILLION DOLLAR MANIA!

I didn't realize you were one of the guys questioning UFC's motives or I wouldn't have aimed that comment at you..

Wait a minute I didn't aim that comment at you...

Xero

Xerzes 09-03-2008 01:52 AM

I must admit to not having ideal knowledge of MMA, but I have to assume that big bad Lesnar is going to get his ass beat.

Kris P Lettus 09-03-2008 02:10 AM

I dunno.. I all depends on if Couture allows him to impose his will.. Lesnar is big and powerful enough to pretty much take anyone down and ride them.. Couture needs to take him out of his element by going for submissions or something.. If fighters allow Lesnar to make it his fight, he's gonna be hard to stop..

Sepholio 09-03-2008 05:12 AM

I think Lesnar will honestly beat Couture. Lesnar is a serious monster.

Any chances of Lesnar vs Kimbo Slice? That would be a hillarious match right there.

Juan 09-03-2008 05:34 AM

Nah. Kimbo fights for ElliteXC

Kane Knight 09-03-2008 10:01 AM

You could have stopped right there. Lesnar is no pushover.

NeanderCarl 09-03-2008 12:24 PM

How blinkered to suggest wrestling fans shouldn't have an opinion on UFC. Maybe we should remove the TV/Movies forum too, because what the fuck do we know about making movies?

And how DARE we discuss casual topics on a wrestling forum? What the fuck do WE know about life, the universe and everything?

From now on, anyone volunteering opinions on anything other than wrestling (even though 99% of us have never stepped foot in a ring) will receive a Neg-Rep Of Doom™

NeanderCarl 09-03-2008 12:26 PM

Maybe there should be a seperate UFC/MMA forum, though.

Anybody Thrilla 09-03-2008 12:29 PM

I think the discussion can be held in any forum as long as some jackass named Kris P Lettus just lets the conversation flow instead of saying where it should be held and who should be having it.

JUST SAYING MACE.

Anybody Thrilla 09-03-2008 12:30 PM

I'll meet you guys at the computer help desk to discuss UFC's top 25 knockouts.

I think it's due to Nogueira and Mir fighting in December Brock is the only credible Heavyweight around. PLus it'll be a huge fight gaining shit loads of publicity. Which means money money yeah yeah

Didn't Dana say at the press conference that he thinks Affliction will be out of business by January and he's gonna try and sign Fedor when they do?

It's just hilarious to me that someone like Xero would mock UFC's booking like MMA thinks it's more about stats and rankings then entertainment.. He's obviously knows knowing of the workings of the UFC to even act like that.. UFC (any bigger promotion) has always booked the fight that's gonna sell PPVs.. They are not nessasarily gonna book true number one contenders cause there are no "true" rankings.. Every ranked list you see online and whatnot is someones opinion.. MMA is like wrestling in that respect cause LEGENDS don't always have to win to remain legends.. People love a hard fought loss than a boring win.. Just like Lesnar lost his first UFC fight but pretty much wiped out the notion in that 30 seconds that he was just a prowrestler..

For guys, who openly love openly fake fighting to mock a promotion they obviously know nothing about is ridiculous..

This is why the winner of Chuck Liddell and Rashad Evan will get the next title shot, and not Machida..

Thought I'd add that in there..
