Andy Murray

He just beat Nadal convincingly to get to the US Open final. Gotta play Federer in the final. Looks like <strike>Scotland</strike> Britain has a player capable of winning a grand slam and showing a bit of emotion, unlike Henman who couldn't do either. Not the biggest tennis fan but I always pay attention to what Murray's doing 'cause he's a bit of a stroppy wanker and more fun to watch than most players

ct2k 09-07-2008 06:19 PM

That boy needs to get a haircut, and those sidies? Horrific:nono:

All the best to him in the final though:y:

Rob 09-07-2008 06:28 PM

On TalkSport the other day, they were burying Murray after his QF win because he didn't celebrate like a nutter. Maybe he just waits until.... I dunno... he wins a fucking major!!!

Go on son! Need some fucking Scottish joy this week.

Londoner 09-07-2008 06:30 PM

been watching it, amazing stuff!

Cactus Sid 09-08-2008 06:30 AM

The tennis the two of them were playing yesterday was on the level of the Federer/Nadal Wimbledon final. Absolutely superb stuff. I fear he'll have peaked a little too soon, but all the best to him, I really hope he pulls it off.

Londoner 09-08-2008 06:42 AM

No point in fearing he's peaked a little too soon, you gotta reach your peak to beat nadal.

Fabien Barthez 09-08-2008 08:01 AM

Peaked too soon? How old is Rafa again?

fair play for not over-celebrating before getting a proper result. It shows he has high standards for himself, but in interviews and any time he is just generally chatting, he is a miserable motherfucker at best.

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-08-2008 10:12 AM

He probably doesn't care for the media attention, and just wants to play. That or he is a miserable bugger.

ct2k 09-08-2008 11:35 AM

He's scottish, ofcourse he's a miserable bugger

ct2k 09-08-2008 11:36 AM

Even Tim Henman smiles in interviews, but Murray? I've literally never seen the kid smile!

Fabien Barthez 09-08-2008 11:47 AM

Try and find the vid of him on Johnathan Ross.

Why go on a chat show to be fecicious, ignorant and misserable as a wet weekend in Prestaytn?

Rob 09-08-2008 02:57 PM

He is saving his smiling for winning a grand slam :D

Rob 09-08-2008 03:40 PM

Yeah he'll be British when he wins the grand slam.

Scottish when if he loses.

Londoner 09-08-2008 03:45 PM

That is true.

CSL 09-08-2008 03:47 PM

lol, for sure. Me and a mate were talking about that earlier. He's gonna be a scottish tennis star or a british tennis sensation

Gertner 09-08-2008 03:51 PM

He's a Brit. He'll choke just like they do in all sports

CSL 09-08-2008 04:06 PM

Excuse me? We do not choke at anything.

We just suck at most things

Rob 09-08-2008 04:12 PM

Exactly.

Gertner 09-08-2008 06:15 PM

I stand corrected.

Londoner 09-08-2008 06:35 PM

Damnit murray, find that Britishness in you and you'll stop losing.

Gertner 09-08-2008 06:37 PM

lol

Rob 09-08-2008 06:48 PM

Should have stabbed him.

Fabien Barthez 09-08-2008 07:09 PM

Stupid Jock.

Vintage Federer though, to be fair.

Londoner 09-08-2008 07:23 PM

Murray was decent though fed was too good. Murray will go even higher in the rankings, he's 4th now, this is just the start!

Yeah you can't argue getting beat by a dude who won 30+ straight matches at the U.S Open and who is the best player to ever play the game.

Actually yes you can. Fuck Federer! :D

Fabien Barthez 09-08-2008 08:45 PM

You know, when you think about it. F1, Murray Nadal, Amir Khan, UFC, Unforgiven, Murray, Federer, and Raw. It's been a pretty good 3 days of sport.

Oh, and england played.

Shame Murray, Khan and Hamilton all basically lost, like....

McLegend 09-08-2008 10:50 PM

I knew Murray would lose in straight sets.

That suckssssss

Bad Company 09-08-2008 11:31 PM

smashed

Londoner 09-09-2008 09:52 AM

yeah so? Its been ages since we even had a brit in the us open final,he's now 4th in the world at 21 years of age, hardly a shame is it?

Bad Company 09-09-2008 10:02 PM

Oh bloody good effort, he just got smashed. I was stating a point. Don't cry about it.

MCEazy 09-09-2008 10:34 PM

Murray didn't stand a chance, gotta appreciate the effort at least. Had he faced a "fresh" Nadal, i'm not sure he even would've made it to the final though.

Yay for my boy Federer btw , one more to tie pistol Pete!

Rob 09-10-2008 05:18 AM

Fuck off. Murray played the best game of his life and Nadal didn't have an answer for him. Being fresh is an excuse. Seeded players get beat in the opening round of grand slams all the time too and they are fresh. You don't go undefeated against the other top players through out your career. Fact.

Fabien Barthez 09-10-2008 08:52 AM

Some people just can't take a clean win or loss in sport. Murray was better than Nadal and beat him. Murray was not as good as Federer and lost.

Just because he lost to Federer, doesn't cheapen his victory over Nadal. Just because he beat him, doesn't mean there was something wrong with Rafa, it means Murray was shit hot.

Londoner 09-10-2008 09:10 AM

Totally agree with rob/fabien.

The Mackem 09-10-2008 09:25 AM

Didn't Greg Rusedski get to the final of the US Open?

Londoner 09-10-2008 01:22 PM

Dunno, did he? Either way, you know what i meant. Its very rare for us to have Brits int he final of grand slams. Even rarer for them to actually win grandslams,i fully believe murray will win a few grand slams though.

MCEazy 09-10-2008 09:10 PM

Well after watching the whole Murray/Nadal match I apologize and take back what I said, Andy simply outworked and outhustled Nadal pure and simple. The kid does have great footwork and a crazy serve, he just ran into a revitalized Roger Federer, but if he keeps playing the way he does, he'll be sure to win some slams soon.

Yeah, he did

Fabien Barthez 09-10-2008 10:24 PM

Having the world's fastest serve, on a hard court can do wonders.

That being said, he was a hell of a player before he got injured. Took Sampras to the limit at Wimbledon one time.

Coincidentally, going to see Sampras at the Masters tournement at the Albert Hall in December. :D
