Jack Swagger

What's his background? He debuted on ECW this week and I thought he looked really good. Has a decent finisher.

TerranRich 09-10-2008 01:29 AM

DAMMIT... all these new guys means more themes to find and add.

Never mind... apparently he just used one of Jamie Noble's old themes.

Juan 09-10-2008 01:33 AM

Swagger's wont be hard to get, TR. He used Jamie Nobles old trailer trash theme.

WWE is getting fucking lazy

TerranRich 09-10-2008 01:36 AM

Yeah they are. I bet they heard this in their library and thought, "Wow, this is a great generic rock song! It's perfect for a theme for a new up-and-comer!"

Mr. Nerfect 09-10-2008 01:39 AM

I actually like that theme of Noble's. Wish he still used it, to be honest.

Basically, Jack Swagger is Jake Hager from the developmental system. I think it's pretty silly they gave him a new name, because all of Hager's accomplishments are probably under his real name. Why create a pseudonym if you are going to be riding them?

He's done very well in DSW, OVW and FCW, and is apparently one of the more impressive guys in developmental. He comes from the University of Oklahoma and played football as well as setting the record for most pins in an All-American season of amateur wrestling with 30, or something.

Wish they had just called him Jake Hager.

Gertner 09-10-2008 01:41 AM

Jack Swagger to WWE music production:"Hey guys , I'm debuting this week and I need some music

WWE Music Production:" Fuck, it's Friday and According to Jim is gonna be on in 5 minutes so here use this. Don't worry, wrestling fans have the attention span of a gnat."

Afterlife 09-10-2008 01:42 AM

Juan: I need a pic.

Juan 09-10-2008 01:42 AM

Also, apparently he's the FCW Heavyweight Champ is on an 62-0 win streak and he was a two-sport athlete at the University of Oklahoma, playing as a defensive tackle in football as well as a heavyweight amateur wrestler.

Everybody, meet Renamed-For-No-Reason Developmental Talent #53.

Mr. Nerfect 09-10-2008 01:48 AM

This re-naming guys just to own their trademarks is such a TNA move. It makes sense with some guys, but Jake Hager is a guy who really would have gotten real benefit from keeping his real name. I will say this, however: "The All-American American" is a damn good nickname.

I wish the WWE would re-use more themes, to be honest. I'd have marked out if Jack Swagger had used Kurt Angle's old music.

Afterlife 09-10-2008 02:17 AM

Good lord. How about a pic without an acid-distorted face?

Juan 09-10-2008 02:27 AM

Edit: Sorry I used my phone to post it the first time.

Afterlife 09-10-2008 02:31 AM

Smaller, please?

Juan 09-10-2008 02:39 AM

Fixed

Juan 09-10-2008 02:41 AM

Kinda looks like a beefed up Chris Nowinski.

Afterlife 09-10-2008 03:45 AM

He looks like Dobber with mental problems.

Mr. Nerfect 09-10-2008 11:39 AM

I've also decided that Jack Swagger is my pick to challenge Santino and his Honk-a-Meter heading into WrestleMania XXV with the IC Title on the line. Swagger takes the belt in the first IC Title match at a Mania in seven years.

Was he playing a face or a heel?

Hanso Amore 09-10-2008 12:17 PM

He played heel.

I think they might kind of play up the All American thing like they did with Angle as an Olympian when he started.

Hanso Amore 09-10-2008 12:19 PM

The guy is big, has a great look, could be decent.

he needs new attire though. he should singlet it up, play off his ametuerness.

Uhhhh what? It's more of a "WWE owns all their trademarks so we HAVE to rename most of our WWE defectors" move. Not much of a choice on TNA's part.

DarKCentaur 09-10-2008 05:14 PM

Ok, this guy is my new favorite wrestler. I dunno why, but he had me entertained from the second he was announced. There's something about him that just screams "I'm gonna be a big star someday"

TerranRich 09-10-2008 08:51 PM

All I could find on YouTube for Jack Swagger was some musician. Wonder if WWE.com has any clips of him.

That was driving me nuts. I knew he looked like someone...

TerranRich 09-10-2008 09:28 PM

Man... if he worked out and got rid of some of that extra padding, he'd be an amazing talent complete with the look as well.

And my first impression is JBL + Chris Nowinski

Afterlife 09-10-2008 10:12 PM

Really? I'm the only guy who went to tv's "Coach"?

Lock Jaw 09-10-2008 10:19 PM

For a guy with a great name like Jack Swagger, he sure has some generic ring attire. I would have expected more.... swagger...ness. More swaggerness. Yeah.

Hanso Amore 09-10-2008 11:19 PM

I guess that was what he has been wearing since he was just Hagar, so maybe he has some new stuff being made I hope.

With his weird hips, he needs to go a Singlet like Angle.

Well would you pay someone to make music for a guy who is not Braden Walker that's only going to be around for two weeks for some music?

WWE using old themes for newer guys is a good idea on their part. Why waste the time and the money on something you don't know?

Juan 09-11-2008 03:49 AM

Makes sense, 450.

Well they WOULD have money to throw around if it weren't for a certain rick roller who shall remain nameless.

:shifty:

Not in every case. For example, Shawn Daivari could have used his real name. Instead he is now "Sheik Abdul Bashir."

Besides, it's a moot point, I was just merely making fun of the WWE and TNA by comparing them to each other.

Mr. Nerfect 09-11-2008 05:12 AM

He looked better than Josh Daniels, that's for sure.

I want this guy to go on a Goldberg-like winning streak, only with more an egotistical twist. Writing his current win-loss record on his tights, or bringing out women with score-cards.

No, it doesn't make sense. Not when you realize that WWE has at their disposal a library of tens of THOUSANDS of songs to choose from, in all the production libraries they have access to. And they choose one that's been used by two separate entities (Noble and U.S. Express one time).

You DO realize that WWE (Jim Johnston) composes about 20% of the wrestling themes, right?

I did think it was hilarious how you mentioned Dobber and just assumed everyone would get the reference for some reason.

Dark-Slicer Diago 09-11-2008 08:00 PM

I remember when Noble came out to that, I started thinking that it sounded alot like Trigun's theme

Did you really?
