What do you think the best movie sequels of all time are?

Some important criteria to consider is whether it lived up to the original, or if it surpassed it. Did it take the story and characters in a new, interesting direction, or was it just a rehash?

I didn't really count sequels like the second and third Lord of the Rings movies, or Kill Bill volume 2. Mainly because they were parts of the same initial production and scripted, casted, shot and made at the same time.

Bourne movies got better as they went on as somebody already mentioned. Absolutely brilliant trilogy.

For me it would be The Dark Knight, Aliens and The Godfather Part 2.

one of the best sequels of all time is The Godfather Part II.

Scary Movie 2? It's just a turd in a different shape, still a turd though

I want to say that Ernest Scared Stupid is my favorite Ernest movie. Not sure if you could consider Ernest movies "sequels" since they are all episodic.

Aleast he didn't say Tokyo Drift.
