Should Goldberg be in the WWE Hall of Fame?

I was watching some old Goldberg matches in WCW and I was wondering should Goldberg be entered into the WWE Hall of Fame? I was lookin at his stats and he didnt lose alot of matches but he only has 2 world heavyweight titles to his name. So lets look at this in a Accomplishment Vs Shortcommings standpoint. Accomplishments- Impressive 173-0 streak, had a huge fanbase and tons of marketing, former world champ, main evented in both WCW and WWE. Shortcommings- Most of the 173 wins were over the Renegade or Barry Horowitz 2 or 3 times, didnt really do alot to "revolutionize" the business, wasnt around for very long long either. He was one of the biggest draws of WCW and was really one of the only people that WCW made and became a main eventer. I cant really say if I think he should what do you guys think?

Destor 09-24-2008 04:19 PM

no

Destor 09-24-2008 04:19 PM

No, he weren't nobody. Warrior should go in before him.

Dorkchop 09-24-2008 04:44 PM

I'll admit that Goldberg was exciting in late 97 and all of 1998. I'd say he doesn't deserve to be in it, but I don't give a shit. It's a hall of fame for a predetermined sport.

thedamndest 09-24-2008 04:51 PM

If WCW had won the war, he would easily be in their Hall of fame. But no, WWE shouldn't recognize him for what amounted to a few hot years in the same way Brock Lesnar won just about everything there was to win but didn't have a "career."

Pardeep 619 09-24-2008 04:53 PM

I'd say no. Goldberg hasn't done enough to justify being in the Hall of Fame.

The MAC 09-24-2008 05:41 PM

Fuck no, the guy ended bret hart's career. goldberg should be lucky to get a ticket to attend the HOF

NeanderCarl 09-24-2008 06:01 PM

It's a Hall of FAME. In 1998, Goldberg was one of the two most recognisable, hottest names in wrestling. (EVERYBODY wanted to see Goldberg v Austin). That's pretty famous.

My heart says "no he shouldn't" but if you're going on longevity, he was around for the same length of time more or less as The Rock, and nobody ever denies his HOF worth. Obviously Rock has advantages over the 'Berg, but still, fuck longevity. I don't know if he's especially deserving but I wouldn't be offended if he did get in.

I'd say that only "the greats" should be allowed in the Hall of Fame, but Pete Rose is in it, so what the fuck. Induct Crash Holly for all I really care.

That's why I say he should maybe be entered. Rose is in it, I wouldnt be suprised if Brooklyn Brawler may end up there one day (then again he's worked for the WWE for a long time both on and off camera) as for Crash Holly, he was a force in the ring. Even the Rock was scared of him at one point

Crash Holly + Headbanger Mosh FTW

St. Jimmy 09-24-2008 07:35 PM

no.

DarKCentaur 09-24-2008 07:40 PM

No, but at the same time yes. If there was a WCW Hall of Fame, then Goldberg would go in without a doubt. The man became just as big a draw as f'ing Austin during the ratings war, and he achieved that in much less time than Austin did. Not to mention Goldberg was responsible for one of the highest rated wrestling shows in history (though Hogan would have you believe otherwise). In WWE, however, Goldberg was booked terribly, and therefore wasn't able to recapture the same drawing power.

KYR 09-24-2008 08:04 PM

No.

And isn't his "winning streak" actually a myth? I thought Russo just plucked a number out of thin air and just ran with it - I could be wrong.

Ruien 09-24-2008 08:38 PM

There is a acual HoF for something that is not real?

Ok, so now whos gonna put a excessively homo-erotic picture of Goldberg grabbing someones cock before doing a press slam? There's gotta be plenty of them out there.

Xero 09-24-2008 11:21 PM

I'll do you one better and give you a video.

well said.

Afterlife 09-25-2008 04:16 AM

Funkai's reign as SmackDown Nummawan Announsa qualifies him as HoF material before Goldberg's lack of effort.

pj69 09-25-2008 03:44 PM

Tough call. Honestly, I think I would say no.

FourFifty 09-25-2008 03:48 PM

I'm just going to cut and paste what I posted somewhere else to say why I'd say no to him.

My biggest qualm with Goldberg going into the WWE Hall of Fame is it's the WWE Hall of Fame. I'm not going to take anything away from my fellow Jew, but what he did for WWE was negligible at best. He didn't inspire people like Ric Flair, built people like Verne Gange, loved like Eddie, draw like Andre, or broke down borders like Rocky Johnson.
His impact in the industry was more than a flash in the pan because of the time he came in. I'll give him all the credit I can vindicate. Great body, great look, great time, great run. Everything about that man was great ('cept his book, which hardcore bombed). However, this was all great for WCW. Not WWE.
Close, but no cigar.

Savio 09-25-2008 03:56 PM

Maybe a WCW hall of fame but not WWF.

WWE is finishing the job they set out to do, become the sole voice of professional wrestling. They need to barrow on the legacy of other companies all the time. Again, I state my case that they've already made it quite clear impact in WWE isn't need, exception talent/skill isn't need...they only basis I've found thus far in terms of who they do or don't put in there is how much they connect with the fans. Simple fact; Goldberg connected with the fans.

He's in.

NeanderCarl 09-25-2008 05:03 PM

But WWE has taken it upon itself to be the "Wrestling Hall of Fame" by inducting guys who had good runs or made a contribution elsewhere, some of whom never even worked for WWE.

Therefore, anybody who "should" be inducted into any wrestling Hall of Fame should be fair game for WWE's.

There is no WCW Hall of Fame. In owning WCW, WWE has taken the responsibility of recognising worthy inductees for their own HoF... they won't, of course, unless it suits them but still...

Afterlife 09-25-2008 05:11 PM

Too Cool connected with the fans. I don't see anyone clamoring for them to be inducted.

BigDaddyCool 09-25-2008 05:38 PM

Too Cool should be in Tag Team part.
