Choke

Anyone going to see it? I read the book this summer and it was great. That's saying a lot considering I've only read 3 books in my adult life.

Kris P Lettus 09-25-2008 06:49 PM

The book was awesome..

Def will see this..

Blitz 09-25-2008 08:12 PM

Yeah can't wait. Chuck

Indifferent Clox 09-25-2008 08:26 PM

Excellent book. Chuck is one of my favorite modern authors, if not favorite, reading snuff now and it's insane.

This is my favorite of his books probably and I can't wait to see it. I hope it does as well as Fight Club.

Gonna see this and burn after reading saturday with a friend :)

Champion of Europa 09-25-2008 09:28 PM

Watching this tomorrow. Update will follow.

Ogen 09-25-2008 10:27 PM

Book was bloody mental first Palahinuk thing I'd read bought in JFK for a flight home after remembering Fake Razor telling me he was amazing. Never read anything quite like that need to get a couple more.

Triple A 09-26-2008 12:00 AM

Yes.

Good News Gertie 09-26-2008 02:23 PM

SO EXCITED

the book =

UmbrellaCorporation 09-26-2008 07:40 PM

yeah, his stuff is amazing.

Hope the movie does it justice.

Good News Gertie 09-26-2008 07:46 PM

i want to see an Invisible Monsters adaptation. :(

thedamndest 09-27-2008 01:17 AM

I will probably reread the book while I wait for it to come to the dollar theater.

Champion of Europa 09-27-2008 12:02 PM

Just saw it, and I really liked it.

I never read the book, so I can't say how faithful the adaptation is.

But it's a nice little movie. It's fucked up but it's got a nice heart in it.

Blitz 09-27-2008 08:00 PM

Yeah good flick. It's a pretty straightforward adaptation. I wish Denny and Cherry's relationship had a little more screen time.

Cant wait ti see this

Triple A 09-28-2008 03:24 AM

I enjoyed this movie a great deal. Kinda was poorly directed I thought but the story made up for it. Haven't read the book though.

I just IMDB'd it and it says 2010. :(

but YAY it is going to exist!

Blitz 09-28-2008 01:48 PM

Invisible Monster would be an interesting flick. I really want Survivor and Lullaby, though.

Good News Gertie 09-28-2008 06:31 PM

Lullaby was ok.... not in my top three Chuck P novels though.

thedamndest 09-28-2008 08:52 PM

Rank the Chuck Palahnuik books!

1) Invisible Monsters
2) Survivor
3) Choke
4) Fight Club
5) Haunted
6) Diary
7) Lullaby
8) Rant
9) Stranger Than Fiction

I have not read Snuff yet and I am not counting Fugitives and Refugees. I think your order has something to do with what order you read them in because I feel like his writing has stayed consistent.

Blitz 09-29-2008 12:50 AM

Of the ones I have read, I'd go:

1) Survivor
2) Invisible Monsters
3) Fight Club
4) Lullaby
5) Choke
6) Snuff
7) Diary

Hanso Amore 09-29-2008 10:44 AM

I am not counting Haunted, because there is no way to adapt that into a flim and give all the stories proper time. Plus, the overall story was just a way to tie all his short stories together.

Survivor
Invisible Monsters
Diary
Fight Club
Choke
Lullaby
Rant
Snuff

In that order.

However, based on the books, I doubt any will adapt to the screen as well as Fight Club. That movie was amazing. I think it will be hard to live up to that.

Hanso Amore 09-29-2008 10:45 AM

Althoug Lullaby starring Dennis Leary could be a super fun movie if done right.

Triple A 09-29-2008 10:47 AM

I haven't read any of the books but one reason why I think Fight Club was so great is because it was amazing visually. The direction was incredible. I think Choke had a really good story but the director was fucking terrible, it really made me angry. It was so boring visually. I just keep thinking about how much better it could have been.

Indifferent Clox 09-29-2008 03:48 PM

1) Choke 2) Diary 3) Survivor 4) Lullaby 5) Rant 6) Snuff 7) Haunted I have started but not finished Invisible Monsters, but I didn't include his nonfiction stuff

FakeLaser 10-06-2008 04:43 PM

Choke

No thread.

I liked it. I think I'll give it an 8/10. They did the book justice. It wasn't INCREDIBLE or anything like the book though.

Thoughts?

Indifferent Clox 10-06-2008 05:06 PM

what are you on frazor?

Triple A 10-06-2008 05:08 PM

Imerged his thread with this one!!!!!!!

FakeLaser 10-06-2008 05:31 PM

Oh I did not even know this existed

Choke is my second favorite behind Survivor, also

Lux 10-09-2008 01:55 AM
