"Year 10: The I STILL got Screwed Story... And I'm Better Than Flair." By Bret Hart

Would they have had – for the lack of a better word – would they have had the balls to get up and knock him out? To stand up and do something about it? I could sense that day that it was kind of like everybody, or a lot of people, would have expected me to just blow it off and maybe say a few words to him and tell him he was a real jerk or something like that – slam the door and walk out,” Hart said. “I think that’s what Vince (McMahon) was looking for. That’s all anybody ever does. Everyone is so job scared. But for me it was different. I grew up with wrestling, like Vince did. It was my whole life, and my whole family had given so much for the industry. And I thought about how much it would hurt my father at home and my kids were watching. I thought what I did and how I handled things was a defining moment for me and my character – not my wrestling character, but my own character as a human being. I always thought it was the best thing I ever did." Bret also commented on working with Ric Flair. “People always talk about who the best wrestlers are. I actually go to maybe too much of an explanation about someone like Ric Flair for example. They rave about Ric Flair about being this great, great wrestler. And he was a great wrestler in many ways. But, in a lot of ways, like working with him in the ring, he was not so great. And for someone to contest that with me or argue with me that I don’t know what I’m talking about, things like that drive me crazy. Because it’s not true. They don’t know what they’re talking about. I know. I’ve worked with some of the greatest wrestlers of all time.”

So, anybody tired of Bret singin the same "think I'm great casue I punched Vince in the face" song that he's been singing for 10 years?

Also, as far as the part about Flair... Is Bret really the guy to talk? Sure he was great once but then he decided to throw a ten year long sniveling bitch fit. That isn't very great in my opinion. Flair continued to entertain until his body literally made him retire. That's an admirable trait IMO. Convincing people to feel sorry for you for a full decade isn't.

Pretty sure Bret Hart retired because of the concussion and the subsequent stroke. I'm sure Bret would still be wrestling if it weren't for that fact.

Nark Order 10-08-2008 12:22 AM

Yeah, it would be different if there was another developement once in awhile I guess. He just tells the same exact god damned story every single year like it's new information.

My fault, I guess his run in WCW slipped my mind. Wonder why? Oh, maybe it's because it was fucking terrible and should never be spoken of ever again.

Dunno, Bret kinda died to me after his time in WWF. The constant bitching cause really made me not care.

Bret will always be better than Flair.

Theo Dious 10-08-2008 09:54 AM

Ah yes. Bret Hart, the man who sees himself as a hero to children and his country says that directing his anger into physical violence towards his boss was the best thing he ever did. Remember that, all you young Canadians, the next time you feel you aren't getting what you deserve, you should hit somebody.

Xero 10-08-2008 10:09 AM

Then write a book about it.

BigDaddyCool 10-08-2008 10:09 AM

Shawn Micheals > Bret Hart

KingofOldSchool 10-08-2008 10:12 AM

What do Jeff Jarrett and Bret Hart have in common?

They have all the STROKE!

Yeah. Shawn not only won every battle but the war as well. Wasn't much of a rivalry really.

Jesus you're a fucking idiot.

Vastardikai 10-08-2008 01:26 PM

I bet Bret's book will be one thing that Shawn's book isn't:

HONEST.

Evolution 10-08-2008 01:28 PM

If Bret had just put Shawn over in the first place, the whole thing could have been avoided. For someone who grew up in the business, he didn't really treat it with much respect to refuse to lose one company's title before going to another.

And yes, Shawn Michaels > Bret Hart

For the last time - Vince McMahon gave him creative control and was breaching his contract. Bret Hart didn't owe Vince McMahon a thing. McMahon ain't exactly done what was best for his talent over the years.

Oh and Montreal happening changed the business so much that it had the biggest boom in the history of the industry. Would you really want to avoid that?

It's shockingly honest actually. One of my friends who is a huge Hart fan said he loved the book when I gave it to him but he went a bit sour on Hart for having an ego.

Every single star in the business with the exception of The Rock all had an ego. They wouldn't have been top guys without it.

Zen vwo will be coming around the mountain when he comes YEEHA

Xero 10-08-2008 02:38 PM

Can't wait for his epic response.

Jeritron 10-08-2008 02:47 PM

Everytime a thread like this is posted it alerts him.

The Bret Signal goes up and he arrives at TPWW via some crazy means. Whether it be a voice activated neumatic suction tube under his desk at work, or a fish tank triggered Iron Maiden he stands inside to slide down a tunnel.

Thriller 10-08-2008 04:53 PM

Ive read Brets book and it is up there as one of my favs right next to Dynamite Kid but certain aspect of it did make him come off as an ego maniac though one can make a claim he earned the right

As for his bitching.Maybe if people stopped asking about it he wouldnt talk about it just a thought.

As for all the HBK lovers saying Bret is a douche for not wanting to drop the title to him.The main reason for that is because Shawn refused the same thing and instead of dropping the title to Bret "lost his smile" I also remember hear how HBK was refusing to drop the belt to stone cold.So HBK has pulled the same shit as Bret did.

Good Ol JG 10-08-2008 06:57 PM

Couple things:

Someone said all Bret hart does is talk about Montreal and Ric Flair and has been doing that for 10 years. Well, read this -

"Former WWE Champion Bret Hart commented on writing about the his side of the Montreal incident for his autobiography in an interview with Alfonso Castillo of Newsday Steel Cage blog"

Notice that word in bold? If you didn't, here it is again INTERVIEW. If the guy is constantly interviewed about it, he's probably going to constantly talk about it. Has he thrown a bitch fit? Yes, absolutely, but he's not the only one to bring it up, so do interviewers, fans, and the WWE every fuckin chance they can, either to further Vince or Shawn as heels or to tease the fans with a Bret return.

Next thing...Bret DID put Shawn Michaels over. Wrestlemania 12 anyone? That's a fact, no disputing that. Now whether or not the Bret Hart/Dave Meltzer "True Story" is the truth or not, who knows? It's all subjective, you believe who you want. Maybe Shawn refused the job, maybe he didn't. I really don't care because as far as I'm concerned both men were in the wrong and so was Vince McMahon. Another fact: all three men are raving fucking egomaniacs, and rightfully so. And to a certain extent, Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart both acted like fucking children wanting daddy's approval, and Vince chose the child he loved more, it is what it is. Bret's probably bitter about that, he probably has a right to be. To me there is no one who comes off "in the right" in Montreal, and personally, I wish we didn't still talk about it. And goddamn if it wasn't 11 years ago, let's let it die already.

Rob 10-08-2008 07:42 PM

At least some people are starting to catch on about who actually keeps bringing it up.

Hart? All I see is another picture of a dead horse being beaten.

Xero 10-08-2008 09:40 PM

Technically, the horse is in the Sharpshooter.

KYR 10-08-2008 09:40 PM

Serious question. Would there have been a more discussed topic (in its various forms) in the wrestling forum over the years?

Bret Hart is the greater legend than HBK, but Bret is pathetic for CONSTANTLY talking about "the screw job" even when others bring it up. If Bret was truly 'over it' or 'the bigger man', he'd simply say (to the interviewer), "You know what man....it was a long time ago...I'm over it." Period.

Bret is either doing this for the money (controversy sells), or because he truly hasn't gotten over it.

Shawn Michaels (Michael Hickenbottom) is a joke (human being...not wrestler) and his faith in Christianity is also garbage. However - as unfortunate as it is, Bret is actually making Hickenbottom to look like the bigger man.
