BTW, I have 43 360 games and 7 Xbox games. PS3 just can't match that yet.

Is the new dashboard release date worldwide or just for one region? I'd assume worldwide.

I'm not a fan of Tekken or Halo so that news isn't exciting to me but Tekken not being a Sony exclusive is surprising.

Yeah I have both a PS1 and 2, I'm not getting a PS3 until A) Price drop B) More PS3 Exclusives or C) I get enough money to justify me buying one.

The only games that are PS3 exclusive that interest me are...

I was gonna get a BD player anyway, so even a few games served as a bonus. I just didn't realise how few games it'd be. I've never played a GoW game, so I may buy 1 or 2 used and see if I like it. I could use more games for my PS3.

I might check out the DC Online thing, too. Otherwise, I'm pretty much only buying non-exclusives for the 360 anyway. I know like thirty people online and off who have 360s, and like two who have PS3s. If I want to play online, it more or less has to be the 360 version. If I want to trade games with friends (Short term), it has to be the 360 version. And so on. Obviously, it doesn't matter with exclusives, but why buy a game for a system none of your friends have, especially if it's an online title?

Also, aren't they gutting BC from all their future units? Like, releasing all their versions with fewer bells and whistles (The 80 GB has fewer ports and slots now, compared to when I bought it)?

Sony wants to take less of a bath on each sale.

The LE MGS 4 PS3 Bundle was the last of the BC consoles.

Although one could luck out if they happen to come across an older 20/60GB model collecting dust at Walmart.

If I had enough money, I would have gotten a 20G on eBay last week to have it in time for LBP. Yet, common sense prevailed and I held off. I'm not in a dire need of a Blu-Ray as my standard DVDs do me just fine.

I want to support Sony, but they just haven't given me enough justification. I don't care about slightly better graphics, nor do I care about free online as I rarely play online regardless.

If I'm going to throw down $300-$500 on a PS3, I want it to be good investment and not have it just sit there like my Wii.

Yeah. I got the 120 gb hdd 2 weeks ago. It comes with a cd and tranfer cable so you can move all your old shit. Totally worth it, considering how much space rockband shit takes up.

I really don't want to support Sony or Microsoft, TBH. Both companies have treated their base like shit. I'm loyal only to the games, and my own enjoyment. As such, it's so easy to favor the 360.

You know, I could care less about Tekken going to 360 (Yeah, it hurts Sony exclusive wise, but it doesn't cripple them, and doesn't hurt me as an owner.) What I do care about though is that the fucking game isn't coming out until Fall 09.

Is there any chance of MGS coming to 360? Thats the only PS3 game I actually care about tbh. May pick up Tekken preowned after a while, but not too bothered about it.

Yeah, the wait is a pain, but it's usually worth it since

a) they beef up the graphics (love how consoles are more powerful than arcade machines now) and story content (at least a little bit)

b) they usually add a few modes here and there. Tekken Force, Devil Within (lame), beach ball thing from T3, arcade version on T 1-3 for T5 and so on.

They'd have to reprogram an awful lot of that game. There's a ton of pro sony commentary propaganda/commentary in it.

I think a ton's a bit of an exaggeration. But while they're at it, maybe they could code in a story that doesn't suck....

MGS4 on 360 is doable, but it'll be severly hacked on the dialogue side. I think the 360 can handle the actual game's size and such, but with a blow to in-game model details and effects. As stated certain dialogue will have to be re-recorded to cut out Sony gags and (presumably) add Microsoft one-liners.

It could be done, but it will not match Blu-Ray MGS. Still, it'll be an awesome game if they keep the core stuff intact.

Not just pro sony stuff, but pro apple. And kojima said himself, that there are many technical aspects of the game, that just wouldn't work on the 360.

So it wouldn't be a simple port. They'd essentialy have to remake the game. Can't see them doing that tbh.

I picked a lot of them up on the cheap because they'd been out for a while. Plus working helps.

My conclusion:

Make a new MGS for the next Xbox console.

I doubt we'll see a blow to models and such. One of the big deals with the PS3 is lossless 7.1 surround, and the MGS disc is insanely padded. Kojima says it can't be done, but he's been blowing the PS3 so long it's got to have priapism. Not to mention, tons of guys hype their own works, and considering MGS is basically Kojima's self-tribute to his "brilliance" and vision, I suspect he cranked it up to 11. But remember when Gears of War pushed the limits of what the 360 could do?

Bottom line, though, I never trust the folks behind a platform-exclusive game to be honest about other consoles. That goes double for Kojima.

TBH I don't get what PS fans have to bitch about. They're still getting the game, its just for 360 owners who are fans of Tekken to be greatful for, surely?

LMAO. Who cares. Now other people besides PS3 owners get to enjoy the game which translates to more sales. More sales = more likelihood of a sequel being released quicker for everyone.

Yeah, but Sony owners were going to get an exclusive, something they could lord over 360 owners. It's not just about having something, it's about other people not having it.

Console manufacturers have a sweet deal. Used to be us against them, consumer against manufacturer. Now it's us against us, Sony fan versus Microsoft. The majority of consumers really seem to have this blind loyalty to manufacturers, who by default are out to screw us. People are still loyal to Sony, though they released two systems with known flaws, and can't understand why people are loyal to Microsoft, who released a system with a known flaw.

And if you disagree with either party, you're a fanboy for whichever side is convenient.
