Better Wrestler - Tag Teams?

Would you like to see The Better Wrestler Competition be extended to tag teams? The competitions would focus on real tag teams, not guys that just paired together for a little while (even if they captured the titles).

Beverly Brothers? Yes.
Headshrinkers? Yes.
The team of Kane and X-Pac? Yes
Undertaker and Big Show? Yes
Undertaker and Rock? No

The "switch" from a singles match to a tag team match would take place only after somebody gets into the HoF because it probably isn't fair to do a handicap match, though if there is interest in that, mention it in this thread.

Keep in mind that without permitting tag teams for Better Wrestler consideration, Hawk and Nasty Boy Knobbs will NEVER make it to the Hall of Fame.

Destor 10-11-2008 10:45 PM

Please post your thoughts guys, as I am very on the fence about this. (I'm gonna vote no just so I can see the results.)

Destor 10-11-2008 10:46 PM

That goes for you too theddy. CONVINCE ME

Destor 10-11-2008 11:01 PM

I do like your idea about changing it up after an induction though.

thedamndest 10-11-2008 11:02 PM

My thought is that tag team wrestling has contributed a lot over the years to wrestling. Tag teams are as definable as singles stars, be they power teams like the Road Warriors, speed teams like the Rockers, brawling teams like the Nasty boys, girth teams like the Natural Disasters, gimmick teams like Tekno Team 2000, or any combination of those. Some guys are just tag guys. They find their niche there and that's what makes them great. On his own Hawk wasn't going to wow anybody. But you stick him with Animal and package him up in shoulder pads and you've got a much more impressive, workable gimmick. I JUST DON'T WANT TO IGNORE HAWK!

I feel like if we just do singles guys we are completely ignoring an entire element of professional wrestling because singles and tag teams are so much different in their approach.

this could be good thed

Loose Cannon 10-11-2008 11:23 PM

thedamndest 10-11-2008 11:24 PM

Isn't about that. It's about do people want to see it.

Destor 10-11-2008 11:39 PM

Need to get Jerry's (hopefully unbias) opinion on this. Since we three run it obviously his input (and yours) has a lot of weight.

The Genius 10-12-2008 03:11 AM

put the beverly brothers in the HOF!

Ruien 10-12-2008 01:10 PM

Ummm, didn't someone (Helms maybe?) do this already? Like when Better Wrestler started the first time. It went over pretty well then.

Mercury Bullet 10-12-2008 01:27 PM

I think its a good idea.

No, your thiking of a completely different thing, RTW, and it's spin off RTTT.

Ruien 10-12-2008 05:42 PM

Oh that is right. But yes its a good idea.

KYR 10-12-2008 09:21 PM

My only concern would be that (if under the current Better Wrestler tourny rules) you may quickly run out of legit tag contenders if you do the polls over 5 rounds.

You may want to perhaps make it over 4 rounds.

McLegend 10-12-2008 09:23 PM

Don't do it every week. Make it like bi()-weekly or monthly or something.

I had considered that. I didn't want to move any goal posts, but at the same time, legit tag team contenders are harder to come by than singles contenders so I think that 4 may be a more adequate number than 5.

Destor 10-12-2008 09:44 PM

there are as many tag teams as there are single wrestlers NYR. And McLegend, BW is done every three days. None of these things are changing.

Destor 10-12-2008 09:45 PM

If there aren't enough "good" tag teams in your opinion then fuck the tag teams.

KYR 10-12-2008 09:54 PM

I suppose my comment was directed not at the "good" tags as opposed to legit contenders for the HoF who may miss out.

I guess I'm still pissed at the likes of Ted DiBiase (Sr) and Piper just missing out on the HoF. Would hate to see a really deserving tag team miss out.

Change is good.

thedamndest 10-12-2008 09:55 PM

There are plenty of good tag teams considering how sparingly the Better Wrestler Tag Team Edition will be used. I think the point was to avoid competitions between Tekno Team 2000 vs. The New Rockers.

Just in case we weren't clear with each other...

I was talking about Better tag team not the better wrestler.

Ted will have another shot with Money Inc. Unless he goes up against The Road Warriors, he's a shoe in.

McLegend 10-12-2008 10:02 PM

Money Inc is not a shoe in for the hall of fame.

thedamndest 10-12-2008 10:08 PM

There are a lot of devoted Ted DiBiase/Mike Rotunda fans on these boards.

McLegend 10-12-2008 10:12 PM

I understand, but still not a shoe in.

thedamndest 10-12-2008 10:16 PM

Wishful thinking :(.

McLegend 10-12-2008 10:20 PM

God bless you for it.
