wow, TNA pays shit
"People close to the situation regarding Johnny Devine's departure from TNA estimated him being in a $30,000 per year spot in the company. Additionally, this is before airfare, road costs, hotel costs, and food costs, which TNA doesn't cover for most of their performers."
---------------------------------------------------------------- I mean $30K is a nice salary to have, but considering that's before all those expenses, that's got to suck ass if this is true |
Gotta keep the money rolling for the WWE rejects.
|
30 a year is decent out of college work that you can build on. But for a job with an active life of oh, 5 to 10 years on average, that is awful.
|
He probably has shitty benefits too, no health insurance or anything. After taxes too he's probably winding up making $20k
|
I would imagine after taxes, it is closer to $23k a year. No clue how much travel, and business expenses a wrestler would incure.
|
Johnny Devine: $30K a year (nothing paid for)
TNA 6 sided ring: Total Cost: 9x Johnny Devine's Salary Kurt Angle: 1 million Dollars/year (everything paid for) Ratings: Pricele.......yea still shit |
Let's be honest here...
If you ran a wrestling promotion would you pay Johnny Devine more then $30,000? |
This is even more ridiculous considering TNA doesn't allow its wrestlers to work for many indy promotions or ROH to help pay the bills. That's why they lost Austin Aries and Roderick Strong, two of the best up and comers TNA had in 2005.
I think TNAtards should be removed from TNA fans and applied to the TNA runners. |

if Devine was making $30K, I bet former Team Canada muscle man, A-1, was probably paying the company to even be there.
|
He would not get 80k.
According to the last reports they paid Striker 40K, and either way you look at it Devine isn't that much better or worse then Striker. Now honestly those reports were like a year or so ago so he probably makes more now, but you get the picture. He would not get travel expenses either. You have to be at least midcard for that. Divne would be way below the midcard. |
WWE doesn't cover travel expenses for the vast majority of thier talent. And he'd probably make 40k as enhancement talent in the WWE...

I wouldn't get out of bed for $30k a year.

2 - I wouldn't get out of bed for $40k either. |
Guys I've spoken to say different
|
Welcome to the effects of a wrestling duopoly, who reckons the territory system or big three days were bad now for workers?
|
Wow, I make more than Devine, and I don't really do an awful lot.
|
I think I read somewhere that within North America the company flies you from your nearest airport to and from the most convenient airport for the three or four day loop. Travel from show to show, food and accommodation is paid for by the wrestlers.
|
Jesus I make half that on average at my part time job at a movie theatre.
|
Wonder how much Funaki brings in?

Holy shit, I make that in a year working at a supermarket. |
Devine has been there since around 2004 as well. Makes you wonder if he's ever had a rise and if so from what.
|
Why is everyone forgetting that this was only his TNA money, he would of been making money from other promotions as well as TNA don't run a full time schedule for house shows.
Granted it's still shit though and I make more than him in TNA, but remember, the TV tapings is twice a month, with one PPV and a handfull of house shows, so on a pro rata basis it's not terrible |
WWE only pay air fares if they deem air travel a necessity. like NY to LA in 24 hours for a show..

30K a year for an average 15 minutes work per evening isn't bad. Not forgetting that the TNA schedule is much lighter than the WWE one as well.
40k a year in the WWE schedule actually sounds worse. |
I rememeber reading that when Konnan needed kidney surgery, he was fucked because TNA doesn't offer any sort of health benefits. He went back to Mexico to have it, cause surgery/hospital costs are WAAAAYYY lower there. I guess that answers the question about TNA's insurance up there ^
|
Wrestling + insurance? COME ON.
|
Konnan's doctor...and his price for kidney surgery...

Johnny Devine is the best.

I'm sure wrestlers have a load of tax write offs. Since it's more of a life style than a job they should be able to claim everything from their boots, to air fair, to medical bills as job related.
