Christian Cage
I've heard lots of rumors that his contract is up this month. Normally I wouldn't really care about these things, but I've noticed he hasn't really been doing anything interesting for the past couple of months. Not that he's been boring or not entertaining, he's just been.... around. I'm wondering if it's because TNA are retarded, he hasn't signed a new contract yet, or if he's happy not really doing anything right now.
Would you like to see him back in WWE? A year and a half ago I would have said no, but I keep thinking how awesome it would be to see him back in WWE (Provided they don't use him to job... which they probably would). |
Where's the "dont care" or "Meh" choice? I guess I'll say TNA out of the two companies.
|
TNA.
Mostly because he could potentially be amazing in WWE, but he never will, realistically, since Vince will always view him as a midcarder at best. I could Noid up some shoestringed, halfass scenario in which he'd be big, but I think it's pretty clear what Christian's future is should he join back up with WWE. |
Can't disagree with KK at all there.
Although I, for one, would like to see you put your Noid hat on! Gimme this Christian Main Event push. |
I'd say WWE,
For 2 reasons. Firstly, bodies are not as essential now to become a big player since the whole Benwho thing (see CM Punk) Secondly, they are desperate for ratings, a 'big' return for a little ratings spike would be greatly received. This is why I think RVD is biding him time and when he comes back all that weed nonsense will be out of the window and he'll be straight into the main event |
TNA

I'd love to see him back in WWE because he could fare better now than he did. But, as KK said, Vince will always see him as a mid-card guy. I'd love to see him get a title run in WWE, but realistically it won't happen.
I have a feeling that he's been just hanging around because he has yet to sign a new deal with TNA. They did a similar thing to Nash by keeping him off TV until he re-signed. I think that's basically what's happening to Christian, and he'll be back in the thick of things when he inks a new deal. His best course of action is to stay in TNA where he can be in the main event picture for sure, as opposed to possibly getting to that spot in WWE. |
WWE, just cause at the moment they have a lot of ways to use him. Put him with Jericho/against Jericho. Put him with Edge or vs. Edge
|
An E&C reunion would make me cream myself.
|
It would totally reak of awesomeness
|
I'm afraid that if he goes back to WWE, they're going to negate any type of fame or push he's had in the past couple years and send him back into mid-card hell. There are ways that he could actually gain some steam but I doubt the WWE will care enough to even consider them. Putting him into a program with Edge writes itself, or even Jericho. I wouldn't mind seeing Christian replace Lance Cade as Jericho's right hand man then have them fued somewhere down the road. (With Xtian of course having more mike time than Cade did)

good times |
As much credibility as Christian Cage would bring to the ECW championship, I think it would be better for him to stay in TNA. Less toll on his body and he's probably doing pretty financially well there.

Assuming that Christian would share the same fate, especially given he went to the competition, is rather wishful thinking. He seems more like he'd be in for the "Matt Hardy" push, where he might be "forgiven" down the road. Still, it seems unlikely that the guy who left because he was unappreciated is going to be welcomed back with open arms.... |

Anyways, I would love to see Christian show up to challenge Matt or Jeff out of nowhere, or in a saveus.y2j type gimmick (except, you know, not retardedly predictable.) Basically I want him back in WWE before he hangs it up someday.

Alright, I hate myself now. |
WWE for a few reasons:
1) A push might be possible. If Jeff Hardy, in recent times, had main-event exposure, then why not Christian? 2) Potential E&C re-union. Seriously - who wouldn't cream their pants at the thought of that? 3) As Dave Youell mentioned, smaller guys are getting more chances now. |
I know Christian left WWE on good terms so he'd be welcomed back. I just worry Vince would continue to keep him as a mid carder. In 2005 he was getting some of the biggest face pops of the year (working as a heel too). The fans wanted him as a main eventer, but WWE tried keeping him as a mid card guy. I have no fucking clue why they did that. Didn't his first and only solo t-shirt sell out really quickly?
Those were some shitty times in WWE. Angle was the biggest thing in wrestling, but WWE wanted to use him to try and get Cena over, but it Backlashed and made Cena the most hated guy in the company. WWE still pushed him as a monster face. TNA is just so awful to watch most of time that I don't even want him there. WWE has gotten a lot better so there is a chance Christian could be used. It's a small one though. |
WWE 2001 - 2007 = really stupid
WWE 2008 - present = slightly less stupid. |
Good post Dorkchop.
To be perfectly honest - I don't watch TNA...at all (give or take, a few minutes every few months when I'm flipping channels). Although I don't even watch ECW or Smackdown, I *atleast* watch RAW every other week. I just want to see Christian come back to the WWE because I would atleast tune in to see what happens with him while he's here. |
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Christian back in the WWE. But I wanna see them make a big deal of it. I wanna see him pushed to the level he should be. I'm not saying he should return straight into the ME picture but at least put the guy in a position where he can be handed the baton if he is getting the right reactions from the crowd.
I'll never understand why Vince never pulled the trigger on Christian when he had the chance. Perhaps he was adament that we would like his hand selected Main Eventers (Cena, Batista, etc). I remember a time where a mid card heel started getting great face reactions and he went on to have a fair bit of success at the top of the card. I think his name was "Luke Warm" Someone or other, the name escapes me now. |
TNA for many reasons.
1. He's considered a main eventer in TNA. If he did go to the WWE, he may or may not ever become a main eventer. Guys like Edge, Jeff Hardy, and Eddie Guererro eventually made it. However, the list of people who didn't and should have is a lot longer. 2. Vince McMahon is an asshole. If he does go back to the WWE, they'll make sure they own a copyright to everything from his name, to his look, to his social security number. If he does go back to TNA, he'll probably have to fill the role of the Suicide character for crying out loud. 3. The TNA wrestlers need to sit and see what happens. With more and more big names coming along, more and more people are going to watch. It's only a matter of time before they really make an impact. |
How is it 'a matter of time'? The Impact ratings are approaching 1.05 (asymptotically) as time approaches infinity. It didn't matter who came along, the ratings didn't (or else, just barely) move.
|
It's been "a matter of time" for about 4 years now.
|
WWE.
<strike>More</strike> people actually watch WWE. |
Lol. "If he did go to the WWE, he may or may not ever become a main eventer. Guys like Edge, Jeff Hardy, and Eddie Guererro eventually made it."
I like that we're already counting Jeff Hardy as "made it". |

At the end of the day,
Regardless of what we all think he should do, he will do what’s best for him. He’s probably making anywhere between $200,000 - $500,000 per year based on how much work he wants to do. He probably gets paid more per match than he did in the WWE, he’s got a better quality of life balanced with his family currently also. So it’s down to weather he wants to make more money in the WWE and work harder really. Regardless of what we all think is best for Christian Cage, Jason Reso will do what is best for Jason Reso |
I'd love to see Christian back in the WWE. It seems that despite being one of the best (some may say *the* best) elements of TNA, he seems to be getting more and more overlooked. Back in the WWE, he'd at least be freshened up. If they treat him poorly, he could go back to TNA, go to Japan, be a part of some other company, or just move into acting like he always wanted. His stock has definitely gone up with his run in TNA, so the WWE would definitely take him back, pay him more money, and probably use him better.
Also, I'd love to see a SmackDown! main event of Christian vs. Triple H vs. Edge vs. Big Show at WrestleMania XXV. I could go into detail about how the match would come about, but I can't be fucked. |

Ewwwww! I love you noid, but don't you remember just how bad Wrestlemania 2000 was? |
Vince would bury him so hard. A guy who can't really draw, coming back after failing to find greener pastures.
Vince is probably licking his lips, waiting for the phone to ring, whilst stroking his shovel. |
I don't even care about him anymore.

But I do have that event on DVD. Let me just say this: Storyline-wise, I could see something like that being something pretty epic. Unlike WrestleMania 2000, which was pretty much Big Show and Mick Foley thrown in there for giggles. Well, their issues made sense, but Big Show should have logically be dispatched by The Rock at No Way Out, and Triple H retiring Foley should have stuck for more than a month. |
I'd love to see him come back and get a good heel run on Raw. No matter how they booked him, eventually they would work out the E&C vs Hardys TLC match. Even if it was for one night only.
It'd be absolutely epic. I'd love to see him enter, get a decent main event push even if he didn't win the title. Then conveniently start a program with Matt Hardy while Edge and Jeff are fueding on Smackdown. Then work the programs together for a big payoff match. It'd be a pretty solid draw for them. It'd also be nice to see the tag titles fueded over between two credible teams, who are now main event level. If only for one program, they'd mean something again. |

And in TNA when he was champ the ratings were higher than they are now. Also he had the number 1 selling T shirt in the WWE for a while, and at one point was the hottest thing on TV until they pretty much killed off his only main event push |
By how much? 20,000 people maybe?
His ratings-input were only due to his goofy comical gimmick. With that logic, Santino or Charlie Haas should be getting big pushes. |
