The NXE topic, public release Nov. 19, now with a list of HDD game installfile sizes.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/v78cub

There is the update.

Download and unzip the file, then burn it onto a CD.

And then put the disc into your 360 and then restart the system.

You then should be prompted to install the update.

BE WARNED: Once you do this, you can NOT log onto X-Box Live until November 19th when the update is actually released.

So if you really want to use the install feature and you can wait a shade over two weeks to use Live, then here it is in all its glory.

-------

HDD game install file sizes, use this as a tool to determine your space, games you want to install, etc.

I'd probably do this as I'm pretty burned out on most of my games online at the moment, BUT Gears 2 comes out in about 5 days so I gotta take a pass

KingofOldSchool 11-02-2008 11:21 AM

I'm actually going to wait a week and see if DLC for Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 will be available around launch before I do this.

And I want to get a 120GB HDD as well.

Mii's...now in HD!

Considering the concept and name are both ripped from Microsoft....

The only thing I want from this is the "rip games to hard drive" function. But considering my paltry 20GB HDD, I think I can wait for this update :-\

Yeah, like they "invented" custom soundtracks (which they also tried to say they invented)?

Just a few things:

1. Get some damn games. You haven't played anything yet on your 360 apparently.

2. Get the 120GB HDD. With all the Rock Band and Guitar Hero ish, not to mention Live Marketplace awesomeness out there, you'll really need it.

3. Ripping games to the HDD makes only a slight difference in load times thus far, according to gamespot. Also, you still need the disc to run your shit, so no stocking up on gamefly rentals.

Who said they invented them? Oops.

It's not about the load times, it's more about taking a lot of stress off of the DVD Drive which also reduces the noise that the 360 makes.

Microsoft. They were the ones that tried to file a patent on it, after all.

I've only connected to Live twice: once to make my account and once to download the update that lets me play Shenmue II. I'm just waiting for a good deal on a wireless adapter and also the 120GB HDD.

And KoOS is right, one of the bigger drawing points of the game ripping is to reduce the noise. I watched a video they did on IGN where they tested the console before and after the update, and the noise levels were reduced pretty significantly.

KingofOldSchool 11-06-2008 12:35 AM

Added a list of so far known game install file sizes.

Oddly enough, I didn't bring that up.

Oops.

Kane Knight 11-06-2008 02:17 PM

Anyway, the "for dummies" version of why DP is wrong:

Nobody really said they invented it. However, Microsoft had a digital service prior to the Wii. Almost a decade before, they had a service called Wiimiis or something to that effect.

But yeah, Microsoft is the one copying Miis. After all, Nintendo isn't under like six different lawsuits for ripping off patents right now.

More of the "for dummies" commentary, DP, they didn't try to patent, they did patent methods for custom soundtrack application.

Oops. I guess darkpower should think before he starts talking.

Yet you never give anything to base your claims on. You just want everyone to just believe you because it's you that said it and then call the OTHER guy wrong.

But then again, I'm arguing with an Xbot, a 360 fanboy, one of the worst of them, at that. That and MS can NEVER do ANYTHING wrong, and that they NEVER ripped off of anyone.

Again, you made the claim, but you're not backing them up and hoping that people just believe you because of your TPWW status, which is really sad.

Oh please, everyone rips off everyone. Did you get in to a <s>Second Life PS3</s> Home beta?

No, and I was wanting to, actually (had the theme that had you qualified as a potential candidate installed). But, not to worry, because that has been rumored (a pretty strong rumor) of the Open Beta for Home to be dropping on...

...well...NOVEMBER 19TH...

...WAAAAIIIIIT!!! You don't think MS....nah, couldn't be! That's just a fanboy argument. No WAY that MS could've....not a chance!

#BROKEN Hasney 11-07-2008 02:50 AM

It's not, it was a misconstrued quote from the AP

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/12/Ru...me-for-nov-19/

darkpower 11-07-2008 03:08 AM

Good nonetheless (don't really care WHO announced first). The two can compete it out, actually, which is really good.

However, personally, I think the Home thing will be more appealing to me (even if I had a 360, I don't know if that new interface would really work above what they had. Looks like a XMB prototype and I didn't see what was so wrong with the blades). Yeah, looks like Second Life (which I haven't done at all), but it looks like it's more streamlined than that and looks a lot more social and realistic than NXE (which just looks like a Mii ripoff to me).

My guess is that because of LBP and as much socializing as you have to do to get some of the trophies in that game (I spent about a week creating a level to get some of the trophies that require you to make one. Just published it today, actually), they would have to get Home out there ASAP to take advantage of the social aspects and to meet new people. This is something that I've been waiting for and was kind of pissed that they delayed it from the Spring to now. Hopefully we'll see devs take advantage of the proposed Home intergration with the games (Bioshock was one that was at one point bragging about it's intergration).

You may be arguing with an X-Bot, but you're surely not arguing with me. You're making up statements like "MS can NEVER do ANYTHING wrong" and "they NEVER ripped off of anyone," which are things nobody said.

I'm also not sure why you think I rely on my reputation on this forum. Two of the three statements I made are ones in which I have provided evidence prior to this thread in threads where you were involved. A USPTO search will give you the patent for custom soundtracks. But you already knew that. You already knew about lawsuits against Nintendo for patent infringement, also already posted.

What's left? Well, Avatars. If you're not familiar with avatars in gaming before the Mii was created, pretty sure you've never been near an electronic device before.

What fanboyish reasoning to consider the facts instead of making baseless claims and then trying to imply bad things about one or the other....

What? Why are you defending Sega in this?. It's always the same with you, banging on about the Master System and what-not.

You should talk, with all your "The 2600 is the perfect system" and "Atari can do no wrong."

#BROKEN Hasney 11-08-2008 08:07 PM

All I said was that the Atari had the best online system and I stand by that. You can keep your free Seganet, I'll pay my £10 a year for some Custers Last Stand with voice chat KTHX

RoXer 11-08-2008 11:23 PM

So about the sharing streaming video...is it JUST with Netflix movies? Or can I dl a movie from a torrent/watch a DVD, hook up with a party of friends, and have them all watch it too?

Because that would be disgusting as shit.

Just Netflix.

You never give anything to base your claims on. You just want everyone to believe you because it's YOU arguing. But then again, I'm arguing with an A-Tard, an Atari fanboy, one of the worst of them. That and Atari can NEVER do anything wrong, and they NEVER ripped off anyone.

Not to mention that Atari's online is just Peer to Peer. It may be impossible to find players on most games because nobody uses Seganet, but at least I'm not paying anything.

Besides, if both Sony and Nintendo go off the map in the next four months, the Dreamcast could become the #1 system on the market.

Kalyx triaD 11-12-2008 05:45 PM

So the NXE comes in a week. I have a Q:

Can you sort your friends into categories now? Like a have a "TPWW" column, "Family" column and all that. It's a pretty standard thing for social listings in most systems.

KingofOldSchool 11-14-2008 02:29 PM

Wooo just got to install the NXE.

Kane Knight 11-14-2008 03:22 PM

Any good? I'm not gonna rush out and DL it before the 19th, but I am curious as to some feedback other than the tards screaming that it's awesome or it sucks.

Obviously it'll take some time getting adjusted to the interface. I don't really care about the avatars because they never give you good enough customization.

D Mac 11-19-2008 12:43 AM

Wonder what time it will be up.

Funky Fly 11-19-2008 12:44 AM

Yeah, got my xbox on rn because they said the d/l would be automatic.

D Mac 11-19-2008 03:53 AM

3 am here and still not up yet. I bet there's some kind of problem or delay.

HankScorpio 11-19-2008 05:17 AM

Just finished installing it. don't know what all the fuss is about, t'ain't nothin special

Disturbed316 11-19-2008 06:47 AM

Downloaded it about two hours ago and like the layout, but the avatars are very homosexual at the moment.

Also, somewhere it has majorly fucked up. I went to download some songs from Rock Band via the in game store, yet it says that my family settings are restricting me from doing it, and when I check my settings I dont have any in place. I could download stuff from there before hand with no problems whatsoever so have no idea why its started to be a prick about it.

Kane Knight 11-19-2008 09:27 AM

Turned on the Box at 9, got prompted for an update. So instead of playing SR2, I've been dicking around with Avatars, looking at the new settings, and setting up a background that I could read all the text on.

I'm trying the install process on SR2, though I'm not sure I will be usuing the feature regularly. I just want to see the difference.

Disturbed, there are a lot of glitches with the Marketplace right now, and they should be fixed soon (Of course, with MS, that could mean Christmas).

Disturbed316 11-19-2008 10:17 AM

Thats handy to know, its very annoying not being able to use RB's store. At the moment I haven't tried installing a game, but have used my avatar in Scene It, doesn't do much really but its a nice touch.

Finally deleted all those annoying game trials I had on my game history aswell, god they were annoying.
