Who is the greatest wrestler to not go anywhere?

IE: Great all-around but never really made anything of themselves in the business.

Jeritron 11-02-2008 02:03 PM

This is a great topic. What would you consider "going nowhere" though? I need a little more criteria

Xero 11-02-2008 02:10 PM

Someone who got juggled around and never really found a focus, eventually fading into obscurity.

Jeritron 11-02-2008 02:15 PM

I'd say Shane Douglas, or other ECW alumn. Of course, someones going to argue that they did go somewhere and made their mark.

A guy like Kanyon comes to mind, even though I was never a big fan.

What Would Kevin Do? 11-02-2008 02:20 PM

Not sure. One name that came to mind though was C.W. Anderson.

Anybody Thrilla 11-02-2008 02:21 PM

I'm gonna need some more time to think about this, but let me just say now that I wish Muhammad Hassan would have been able to continue.

Anybody Thrilla 11-02-2008 02:22 PM

According to EWR, Lash Leroux is a super talented guy. I don't remember too much of his WCW work, but I do know he's nowhere now. Is he actually that good?

Blitz 11-02-2008 02:23 PM

Joe E Legend should be a multiple time World Champion.

Anybody Thrilla 11-02-2008 02:24 PM

Ohhh yeah, Just Joe was a great character. Really wish they would have ran with it.

Also, let me just go ahead and say Joey Abs.

Anybody Thrilla 11-02-2008 02:29 PM

OK, I admit, I lied about Joey Abs.

NeanderCarl 11-02-2008 02:57 PM

Ric Flair

Nark Order 11-02-2008 03:08 PM

Nova/Simon Dean. Had the ring skills and the mic skills to go far. Was misused though and a bit small.

El Fangel 11-02-2008 03:38 PM

In a way Kane.

Think about his career, he is now on the short stretch before retirement, so what has he done.

Lock Jaw 11-02-2008 03:41 PM

Simon Dean was great. I remember when he made this fat guy in the crowd cry.

Halbowsky 11-02-2008 05:32 PM

I kind of feel bad for saying this, but Owen Hart. Such a talented guy who was always overshadowed by Bret. Still had a long career ahead of him

Ruien 11-02-2008 05:49 PM

Maven, as a heel.

Why? He wasnt a good wrestler by any means and dont forget the fact that his gimmick was cheap heel heat.

FourFifty 11-02-2008 06:38 PM

I disagree completely. His gimmick was too complex for the general mark to even understand. He was an American that used to love his country until 9/11 happened and he was openly discriminated against on a regular basis. He loved America and wished it would go back to the way it used to be so he could live a normal life again. Also, I don't remember his matches being bad at all. I remember being totally entranced during Hassan matches and promos.

I was embarrassed everytime people started chanting "USA" during a Hassan match. Stupid people. :nono:

Yeah, something like this.

The gimmick was much more than cheap heat. If people would have actually listened to his first promos, he really should have been a face in peoples eyes. They started playing him differently though when Daivari started shouting in Farsi, though. If they would have stuck on the original path and The CW didn't bitch out, I think Muhammad Hassan would have had a great run.

Triple Naitch 11-02-2008 07:53 PM

I always thought Brian Pillman could have been Stone Cold before Steve Austin came along. It's just a shame that he never had the opportunity to become a superstar.

Gertner 11-02-2008 08:06 PM

Simon Diamond. Friggen gold on the mic and a solid worker as well.

Blitz 11-02-2008 08:30 PM

Gertner knows.

Fox 11-02-2008 08:45 PM

Wrath was awesome, but not the greatest.

Test falls into this category.

Kennedy is on the path.

NeanderCarl 11-02-2008 08:51 PM

If by "not go anywhere" you mean never a top title run, no long main event run, not really given the opportunity to be a top top guy, then I'll say Mr. Perfect.

KingofOldSchool 11-02-2008 09:03 PM

Shockmaster

He kinda fell flat.

NeanderCarl 11-02-2008 09:13 PM

Gobbledy Gooker

He just got too cocky.

thedamndest 11-02-2008 09:15 PM

Are we really doing this now?

NeanderCarl 11-02-2008 09:16 PM

Ricky Steamboat

Made out he was a tough guy, but deep down he's yella

thedamndest 11-02-2008 09:16 PM

Bastion Booger

He just wasn't the right pick.

NeanderCarl 11-02-2008 09:17 PM

Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

He just couldn't cut it.

thedamndest 11-02-2008 09:18 PM

Chris Benoit

He couldn't hang in there.

NeanderCarl 11-02-2008 09:18 PM

123 Kid/6-Pac

He was too by-the-numbers.
