CharismaInjection 11-14-2008 10:26 AM

So where's TNA's logic regarding Christian?

Why announce to the fans that Christian is returning to WWE?
Obviously Christian fans will now know where to find him, and will most likely follow their favourite wrestler where he goes.
That was rather ill concieved booking on TNA's part in my opinion.
That's like WWE announcing Christian going to TNA when he left in 2005. 'He has quit for TNA and you can find that on....etc.'
But other than that CC's coming back! :D:D:D

BigDaddyCool 11-14-2008 10:37 AM

TNA is retarded. They always give WWE free plublicity, not that TNA fans wouldn't know WWE exists, but that is aside the point.

Hanso Amore 11-14-2008 10:38 AM

I think that if they are actually going with it, that he is not going to the WWE.

He will show up in TNA in a month and be all "Im a TNA ORIGINAL! SWERVE!"

Or maybe TNA is just that retarded. I mean most times when people leave they get jobbed out first, but that really isnt how this went down.

Russo is a horrible booker though, so you never know.

Triple Naitch 11-14-2008 11:01 AM

If he is in fact going to WWE, TNA may be trying to ruin the surprise like WCW tried when Mick Foley first won the WWF Championship.

br0ken 11-14-2008 11:05 AM

I remember when Christian gors to TNA and he said he gos there not for money but to wrestle and be competing. How come he thinks he will do better for WWE now? Is this a true story

br0ken 11-14-2008 11:06 AM

He is godd, so he can do well anywhere if they give him the chance.

Dave Youell 11-14-2008 12:16 PM

Yeah, think this would be to ruin the surprise factor of everything. So they wouldn't be able to do a mysterious Jericho like return.

Hanso Amore 11-14-2008 12:19 PM

Although like 90 percent of people knew it was Jericho.

Plus, more people will read it on the net before it happens, more people than watch TNA.

DaveWadding 11-14-2008 12:39 PM

TNA uses logic?

BigDaddyCool 11-14-2008 01:02 PM

Wadding bring up an excellent point. You could have ended the sentence with the word logic.

Jeritron 11-14-2008 01:02 PM

Maybe they're just thrilled that WWE actually wants someone on their roster. It's a first

Fox 11-14-2008 01:03 PM

TNA's Logic Department:

"It's not a leak. We looked into it, and it's not. I'll show you the study."

Loose Cannon 11-14-2008 02:03 PM

yea, they kind of screwed themselves eathier way.

If he is going, well they already mentioned where he is going and kind of even played WWE up to be above TNA because they can offer more money.

If he is not going, well they kind of gave him a pretty good beatdown and nothing really to help Christian at all.

Londoner 11-14-2008 02:05 PM

TNA= Total Non-stop Assholes

Jeritron 11-14-2008 02:08 PM

Well, it's natural for them and their fans to realize they're second fiddle at this point in time and that NY is the bigtime .
They're not as clever as Paul Heyman was in portraying the WWE and using it to their advantage, and how they send their wrestlers off. Whether it be positive or negative. He was able to make it seem like they were the premeire talent pool, or that the guy was selling out. Whichever looked better. But he never made it seem like they were the minor leagues, even if they were.
TNA is not so clever.

Jeritron 11-14-2008 02:18 PM

If he really is leaving, they should have done something with him to make someone look good, or have him sent off in a manner that makes them look good. Him being jobbed in a loser leaves town match and being dragged off kicking or screaming. Or putting his career up for a title shot and losing.
It's not really burial, it's just the honors. Maybe it's predictable or cliche, but it's a hell of a lot better than saying "he's moving on to bigger and better things because we don't cut it"

Plus, they're the secondary promotion. They're not in a position to be 'nice'. It wouldn't be immoral or anything. They're trying to compete, but nobody ever took on the top dog and caught them by shaking a lot of hands and being really cool to the guys walking out on them for a better check. At some point you gotta stop being Dixie Carter and start being Eric Bischoff.

BigDaddyCool 11-14-2008 02:18 PM

BTW, could they possibly make it look like Christian is selling out by going to WWE? I mean he already spent a long time in WWE before and left on good terms.

Jeritron 11-14-2008 02:21 PM

They could make it look like he was a quitter, or a coward in some angle. They could also make it look like he was a TNA loyal who betrayed them and went back to the enemy.
It's called booking.

I realize they didn't have a ton of time, but all it takes is one small angle or impromptu storyline. It can be achieved over the course of a couple weeks. Shit, it could even be done in a promo if it was done right.

Jeritron 11-14-2008 02:24 PM

TNA isn't very good at handling situations. When the industry hands them lemons, they freeze up and talk to the fans straight. They don't do anything creative. They don't work within kayfabe. They just assume everyone who watches their show is a smart or doesn't know any better, so they come out and adress the situation rather than book around it.

The only times I've ever seen WWE backed into a corner like that is the Bret screwjob, or when active wrestlers died unexpectedly. Even in those situations, they handled it pretty simply and in most cases even ran with it in kayfabe.

TNA seems to resort to straight shooting every couple weeks, for minor mishaps. Similar to WCW in 2000.

BigDaddyCool 11-14-2008 02:40 PM

Wasn't Russo in charge of booking in both those cases?

KingofOldSchool 11-14-2008 02:41 PM

Who the fuck cares?

This isn't 1991, I think all of TNA fans know damn good and well about WWE. And chances are the majority of the people who watch TNA, also watch WWE even if they don't want to admit it. On top of that, if there are people who watch TNA who don't watch WWE, probably won't start watching WWE if Christian goes back there.

Also, if Christian does stay with TNA this gives him a perfect angle to come back to. Supposedly Christian came up with this angle so it wouldn't harm the company and would give him something to do if he decides to stay in TNA.

No harm, no foul.

Jeritron 11-14-2008 02:44 PM

I don't think it's as much of a foul as it is shitty creative. Do something with what comes up, rather than issue statements.

Why not just have the booking team come out and give a speech about what they've come up with this week, who they're gonna push next week, what they decided on results for and so on? Fuck matches and storylines. It'd be much more direct than putting on a wrestling show. The fans all know that's how its done anyways right? Just read the runsheet.
I just feel as though they should do more to put on a kayfabe wrestling show rather than cater to their smark fans. That's always proven to be a fail.

BigDaddyCool 11-14-2008 02:44 PM

IDK, looking at TNA's track record, they are probably just fucking up something that could have potentially made the money.

Jeritron 11-14-2008 02:45 PM

Everyone knew Jericho was coming to WWE, doesn't mean it's stupid to try and book it as a suprise return. The marks out there who don't check ragsheets are the ones buying the merchandise and actually ordering the PPVs anyways, with their parents paychecks.

Jeritron 11-14-2008 02:47 PM

Not everyone who watches wrestling subscribes to online news sites and posts links to dirtsheet news. There are still marks in this world.

BigDaddyCool 11-14-2008 02:49 PM

There is just so much that the people in charge of TNA don't get.

It played into the storyline.

Instead of having to join the M.E.M., Christian wanted to weight his options outside of TNA. The M.E.M. saw this as the ultimate disrespect so they took him out.

This opens the door for two things.

1. If Christian does not come back, the M.E.M. can take credit for running Christian out of the company.

2. Christian stays with TNA, he can get his revenge.

Even a non-internet mark TNA fan knows about WWE, it would be different if someone like Edge belittled Mick Foley for jumping to TNA. Because, well most of WWE's audience does not know about TNA and would give TNA much needed publicity from the number 1 wrestling company in North America.

BigDaddyCool 11-14-2008 02:53 PM

I haven't been watching TNA, what is M.E.M?

Jeritron 11-14-2008 02:53 PM

That's the problem. Shit like the M.E.M
It's shit like the Millionaires club and stuff like that. It just doesnt work. Nor does coming out and making announcements like that.
Even if it's a work. It's ridiculous. It only plays into the 'kayfabe' because their kayfabe is written by people who think catering to smarks is a good idea.

BigDaddyCool 11-14-2008 03:09 PM

What does MEM stand for? I knew it was something like the old guys v the young guys.

Jeritron 11-14-2008 03:11 PM

Main Event Mafia

Jeritron 11-14-2008 03:13 PM

To be honest, I think it's even worse if it's a work. It shows the incompetence of their booking if it's true. If it's a work however, it just goes to show how assbackwards their efforts really are. At least it being the truth would be them giving up on booking around it, rather than actually choosing to book this crap.

Partially, it is the point. WWE doesn't mention TNA because it's detrimental to promote the competition. But TNA is the competition, they're not really promoting WWE in any meaningful sense.

On the other hand, it's probably bad to actually admit it. If they learned that they're #2, they might work to get better. If they are essentially admitting it to the world...Not so much. Though as I already said, I'm not sure how much damage can be done at this point.

Jeritron 11-14-2008 05:38 PM

Thats what I went on to say in the rest of the post...

I believe Wadding summed it up a bit ago.

Nark Order 11-14-2008 11:53 PM

When did they come and and say he was going to TNA? Did they post it on the website or do it on TV?

Tazz Dan 11-15-2008 12:08 AM

Yeah, was kind of thinking the same :-\
