Best "Short Story" shows

Yeah like a show with a different story every episode.

The Twilight Zone
Amazing Stories
Tales from the Crypt

Blitz 12-21-2008 04:46 AM

Simpsons obviously.

El Fangel 12-21-2008 04:48 AM

Are you Afraid Of The Dark?

freddy's nightmares

Well, you obviously named the best three. Twilight Zone is in a league of it's own though. It's lightyears ahead of even the best.

I used to like "Beyond Belief" too but that died quick.

Jeritron 12-21-2008 02:08 PM

Yea, I loved that. I also loved shows like Tales from The Darkside and just about anything like this. Suprised nobody has mentioned Alfred Hitchcock Presents or The Outer Limits.
Movies like Creepshow were awesome too. Those were movies, but same idea.

I loved short story anthology shows/movies.

Boondock Saint 12-21-2008 02:11 PM

Unsolved Mysteries
Rescue 911

:shifty:

I don't count the Xfiles, since it had recurring characters and plot threads, but if it does count here it shares first place with Twilight Zone.
It had stand alone freak of the week episodes, but it def wasn't a short story anthology. So I say it doesn't count.

Awesome and awesome.

Twilight Zone was so far ahead of it's time it's ricockulous. And that adds a bit to the eeriness of it all to me. TZ is one of my favorite shows of all time. Even the bad ones weren't all that bad.

Jeritron 12-21-2008 02:17 PM

I wholeheartedly agree. It's remarkable, and I love it so much. I also love the annual marathon

Nark Order 12-21-2008 02:19 PM

I think this thread has inspired me to buy the 1980's TZ episodes on DVD off of amazon. They weren't as great as the originals but still awesome in their own way.

Jeritron 12-21-2008 02:26 PM

Any of the non-Rod Serling Twilight Zone stuff insn't The Twilight Zone, and it sucks hard

Jeritron 12-21-2008 02:26 PM

Buy some of the real ones. They have those on DVD

Nark Order 12-21-2008 03:47 PM

I have the first season on DVD of the original Sterlings. Do you really not like any of the 80's ones? Some of them are really good. Watch "Wordplay" on youtube. Also, the Twilight Zone movie with the remake of Nightmare at 20,000 feet (renamed Nightmare at 60,000 feet) is fucking AMAZING. Jon Lithgow has one of his best performances ever in that movie.

Jeritron 12-21-2008 10:23 PM

The Twilight Zone movie is awesome. It's great homage to the original show, and it's a Spielberg production.

Nark Order 12-22-2008 12:12 AM

Only one of the stories is directed by spielberg I believe. John Landis does one too.

Jeritron 12-22-2008 01:14 AM

Yea, but he helmed the project

"You wanna see something really scary?"

The Destroyer 12-22-2008 03:28 AM

Yeah, definitely the original Twlight Zone.

One of these days I'll finish watching it on DVD, only made it up to halfway through Season 3 right now.
