Tag Team Gimmick

First, anyone else realize Raw has no tag team titles? Would have figured M&M would have been put on the Raw brand, but it did not happen.

Anyways, was watching a tag team match from 1999 (I believe), and had a thought. Most tag teams have no gimmick really anymore, half the time it is just 2 random people put together (Shannon Moore and Jimmy Wang comes to mind).

I would like to see a tag team, that plays completely by the rules. They suck up to all the refs, never make tags without the ref seeing, etc etc. After a few months, all the refs and such always figure the tag team plays legit, which they do. Eventually they find the one team they can not beat. After losing lets say 5 times straight, they "bend" the rules once or twice. After that, there are plenty of ways to go, but unlike some people I do not want to know/plan every detail because then I would not enjoy it. (Or end up in some fantasy world, in which I think they acually exist).

Thoughts? I blow at explaining things, so bare with me. Thank you for your time.

ect. *etc.*

I like the gimmick, but isn't that really all baby faces that eventually turn heel. But I see what you are saying there, that's not a bad idea at all. Not to mention, I am kind of pissed tag teams aren't what they used to be back in 1999. I mean you have Cryme Time, but wtf are they doing now, just cutting promos and every now and then getting wins. WWE teases that they will push them, but nope. It's like giving someone a present, but when they open it, it is actually a pile of shit.

Well, they could turn heel or stay face. I just ended off at the one team they could not beat, after that play the tweener roll until the creative team finds out what direction to take.

I'd like to see another odd couple gimmick pop up like sticking Scotty Goldman with Umaga

Goldman & Umaga walk up to random guy backstage "Ok, Umaga this is how you meet someone"

Turns to Guy "Hey, there buddy". Shakes his hand "Nice to meet ya"

Turn to Umaga "Now, your turn"

Umaga "YYYAAAGGGAAAMMMUUUFFFFPLAAA" (AND Samoan Spikes him in the throat)

Goldman "Well, it's a start"

Yeah, pretty sure you just described the most basic face to heel turn.

A tag team gimmick would be more along the lines of wearing spiked shoulder pads and screaming "OOOOOOHHHHH WHAT A RUSH!" or perhaps moshing around the ring and wearing skirts.

@ Ruien: Sounds like what they were doing with Cade & Murdoch vs. the Hardys.

Anybody Thrilla 12-29-2008 06:56 PM

Ohhh yeah. I guess I did enjoy that feud, so maybe Ruien is on to something.

I do like the idea of a really nerdy wrestler (or tag team) that plays strictly by the rules. Dolph Ziggler almost has shades of that with the handshake deal, but you'd go even further in that direction. But yeah, a good sportman character would be hilarious.
