Dixie Carter calls TNA fans "40 Year Old Virgins"

Quote:

Q Can I just go back to the demographics? One of your sources of revenue are toys?

A Uh-huh.

Q Can you describe what kind of?

A It is mostly collectibles, action figures. And I don't know if any of the men around this table admit to having any. But it is really -- it is more in the collectible side where guys keep the toys and they keep them in their boxes and then they increase in value and things such as that. They're not as much, you know, play toys as more collectible items.

Q And who is the target audience for those items?

A Well, collectibles are a much older demographic. I mean, they are probably -- I mean, they are more grown men. I mean, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s even. Have you seen the 40-Year-Old Virgin with that man that has all the toys? I 16 mean, that is kind of -- that's our audience.
From her interview with Big Brother.

She should have just went all the way and call wrestling fans in general 40 year old virgins.

Silly cunt. :)

Sounds like she slipped up there.

Unfortunetly I didn't read the whole thing, but she comes off to me as an airhead.

A few of the straight foward questions she was asked, she answered as if she was pitching an idea to an investor. Also she'll refuse to tell wrestlers pay because she doesn't want the fans to find out, but has no problem outlining them as if they would fit in on the cast of The Big Bang Theory.

lol

Too bad she's not like Vince McMahon though..the man has no problem with blantent lies. This is from the letter by John P. Walters to the Office of National Drug Control Policy...

"During his interview, Mr. McMahon was asked whether he knew if there are health risks from steroid use, including long-term risks. He responded: "I'm not a doctor. I don't know." When asked what he would tell wrestlers who asked about potential health risks, he answered: "I don't know if there are really any long-term effects of stèroid usage." When asked whether steroids could cause impairment and risks to wrestlers and others in the ring, Mr. McMahon indicated that he had never considered the question.""

EDIT: Posted wrong quote originally...this is the right one now.

What does that have to do with the topic on hand, JT Kool?

I'm just making the comparison between Vince McMahon and Dixie Carter in relation to being questioned by the government.

Vince can very easily play dumb, where as with Dixie it seems "dumb" come naturally.

Kane Knight 01-03-2009 07:49 PM

Vince comes off as disingenuous. Dixie comes off as stupid.

Though she apparently knows her fans better than Vince. ;)

Gerard 01-03-2009 07:58 PM

Vince is amusing\acts semi retarded when he wants to sidestep the question. I remember one press conference around 2003 or so when he was asked if steroid testing would be introduced to wwe he simply stated "i don't understand the question" and moved on.

I never knew TNA had an audience.

Oh you know, that pathetic guy that the whole movie was based around. The guy that never grows up, has action figures, has never had sex, and is made fun of the entire movie for how out of touch with reality he is. That's our target audience.

Mr. Nerfect 01-04-2009 03:00 AM

You have to love it when wrestling companies alienate their own fans. Silly Dixie. At least she's fuckable.

I'm actually starting to believe in that WWE/TNA conspiracy theory -- Vince creates 40-year old virgins, then Dixie takes them in.

RGWhat316 01-04-2009 07:19 AM

So I'm guessing that Dixie writes all of The Beautiful People's lines then since they have been saying that for months, and now Dixie officially says it.

Rob 01-04-2009 08:35 AM

40 year old virgin was a great movie though.

XL 01-04-2009 10:22 AM

Looks to me that she's saying the guys that buy the toys/collectables are 40 Year Old virgins and that they are part of the demographic. She's not saying all TNA/wrestling fans are such.

It's all in the context of the question. Besides, she's hardly wrong is she? Wrestling is geeky.

Vince shits all over his fans and they rabidly defend him.

She's obviously just trying to copy his success.

Besides, if TNA's programming doesn't turn fans off of the company, nothing Dixie says is going.
