Dear Tech Forum

First Time Caller, Long Time Listener. Let me just say I'm a big fan. Okay, my problem is two-pronged. The first prong is that I am computer illiterate. The second prong has to do with Norton 360. It has 4 items that require my attention. So I click "Fix" and not a one of them gets resolved. :'(

The problems with Red X's next to them are LiveUpdate, Automatic Norton 360 Update, Virus and Spyware Scan, and Backup. It seems to let me do these things manually when I click the appropriate buttons under "Action" to the right.

Thoughts? (aside from )

Do they show up everytime you run the scan even if you fix them?

Also its commonplace for certain programs to interfer with each other. If I remember correctly, I think its Avast! anti-virus that recognizes AVG anti-virus as a virus. If your not having any problems and those things sound like common programs anyways. Maybes its that those certain things are out of date and you need to run the updates on them. Like when you sign on is there any "New Updates Available" windows? If so do them. :)

What happens is there is a perpetual "4 items require your attention" when you hover over the Norton icon in the tray. Even if I manually do them, they still require my attention, despite it just being given.

I have not installed any new software recently. I did uninstall the HP Toolbar that was hanging out at the bottom of the toolbar. That seems to be when the problem began.

Yeah man, I have updates and spyware definations as big red X's also. I need to also run scans on mine, although I dont have problems. I am sorry I am not much help here :-\

Norton is a pretty huge piece of shit. Buy or download NOD32, IMO.

El Fangel 01-06-2009 10:46 PM

Or in the very least, AVG or Avast!
