Bret Hart Book

I did a search but didnt find anything...

Has anyone else read the Bret Hart book? Just got done with it last night. I thought it was a great read, really informative with lots of details.

However, to me he comes off as having a huge ego, bitter, and being a bit of a scumbag if you ask me. The way he talked about himself makes my stomach sick sometimes.

He doesn't seem to have a big ego. He really does have a big ego. People give HBK and Hogan shit for whining about jobbing, but Bret Hart was just as bad.

I agree. I was just amazed how it came out so easily in the book and how he takes credit for so many things that happened during matches, people's lives, and even hirings of certain stars

(IF I COULD BE SERIOUS FOR A MINUTE)
But HBK, is not like that anymore is he?

I read the book over a few times. the early days and stampede wrestling bits where a bit boring as my interest was about the WWF days. I must say its worth reading because hart tips a lot of the things that happen in the ring that we never noticed such The now infamous shawn michaels " tell him to get the fuck outta the ring" or Nash telling bret "dont forget who did you the fucking favour" at the end of SS95.

Hart has a good sense of humour in his writing and the book is honest. Bret believed in his ability which is probably why he was just so damn good in the ring. He also puts Shawn Michaels over a few times in the book.

If you hate Bret Hart you will find reasons to see his words as being conceited but that is because you're looking for it. The book is an eye opener on just what a toll wrestling takes on a person.

It is a great book to read. 9/10

I agree he puts over Shawn and some other people. He had a hard road and he made it the top. I wasnt looking to read the book and find evidence of him having an ego, I just think it came out that strong in his writing, especially in the WWF years. Not to mention that fact he actually rationalizes to himself that sleeping with different women all over the world was the right thing to do even though he was married.

Dorkchop 01-08-2009 12:08 PM

I loved his book. The most interesting parts for me were his early days and Stampede Wrestling since I knew so little about them.

Bret does have an ego, I'm not going to argue that. He was, however, the most solid wrestler of the 90s and made lots of guys look good. He puts himself over a lot in the book, but he also cuts himself down. As much as he still hates Shawn, he put him over quite a bit. He spoke so highly of Shawn up until the time where Shawn started becoming the biggest cock backstage. Even then he said good things about everyone. Except for Triple H. I'm pretty sure HHH and HBK really were as big of assholes as people say.

It's not the greatest wrestling biography, but it's pretty honest at least.

Bret does put himself over but its hard to argue his reasons and evidence. Its a very enlightening book for anyone interested in wrestling, its history and how its all put together.

How did he explain being a hypocrite? His hypocrisy lead to this moment in history:

RANDOM BRET HART STORY!!!!!!!!

The other day I was buying a couch (no, this isn't a Hogan story) from a local place called "Hart's Furniture." I told my brother about this and where I got the couch.
Him- Man, Bret must be pretty hard up for some cash nowadays.
Me- Yea, well, you can only bitch about one match for so long until people stop buying it.
Him- But that match was pretty bad.
Me- Yea. Not much to it 'cept the finish.
Him- We're talking about Hogan vs Warrior in WCW, right?

SPOILER: show
So I lied, it deals with Hogan. Get over it.
