Ninja Assassin

Yeah can't wait for this movie. Directed by James McTeague and produced by the Wachowskis. Ninjas, man.

In Berlin, Europol agent Mika Coretti (Naomie Harris) has stumbled upon a money trail linking several political murders to an underground network of untraceable assassins from the Far East. Defying the orders of her superior, Ryan Maslow (Ben Miles), Mika digs into top secret agency files to learn the truth behind the murders. Her investigation makes her a target, and the Ozunu Clan sends a team of killers, led by the lethal Takeshi (Rick Yune), to silence her forever. Raizo saves Mika from her attackers, but he knows that the Clan will not rest until they are both eliminated. Now, entangled in a deadly game of cat and mouse through the streets of Europe, Raizo and Mika must trust one another if they hope to survive and finally bring down the elusive Ozunu Clan.

5 minutes of stunt training footage. Some of the badassery in there makes Tony Jaa look like Steven Seagal.

Looks like they finally figured out that nobody cared about all the pseudo-religious philosophical babble from the Matrix and just focused on the crazy-ass fights.

Also, it's actually kind of nice to know that you can do all the ridiculous Yoda spins without it all being CGI.

Kalyx triaD 01-08-2009 03:00 AM

I can't be who I am and not see this opening day. I bought this movie you guy's attention long ago (...got ridiculed for it), good to see it moving along nicely. Great action coming. :)

OssMan 01-08-2009 03:49 AM

No thanks I'll keep watching Ninja Terminator featuring Richard Harrison and Bruce Stallion

Mr Regal 01-08-2009 03:11 PM

Sounds like the Bourne conspiracy, but without the car chases.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 01-08-2009 07:18 PM

I got bored about one minute into that video.

Doesn't look very interesting to me.

Downunder 01-08-2009 07:33 PM

Sounds pretty terrible tbh

Kalyx triaD 01-08-2009 11:34 PM

Ninjas have nothing to do with "terrible".

Downunder 01-09-2009 12:48 AM

Very sick. Great time for nerds like us.

Fignuts 07-25-2009 05:18 AM

Still not better than tony jaa tho.

Dunno what you were thinking.

Kalyx triaD 07-25-2009 08:50 PM

Who me? When did I compare Rain to Tony fucking Jaa? You must be mistaken.

Blitz 07-25-2009 09:55 PM

Fig is to me, I believe, due to the first post where I said, in regards to the stunt training video:

Apparently rather than see that I was merely using hyperbole to say that the stunts look awesome, Fig took that as me saying that this movie is going to be better than Tony Jaa.

Kalyx triaD 07-25-2009 09:57 PM

To be honest, that stunt reel was fucking wicked.

I mentioned Ninja Assassin in a thread about 3 days previous to your thread but only Blitz said anything about wanting to see the movie.

Kalyx triaD 08-15-2009 04:44 PM

I remember that, and updating the news on it in that Movie News... thread. Few seemed to give a damn.

But anyway, the movie should rock.

Funky Fly 08-16-2009 10:43 PM

Pretty sick, but that does NOT make Jaa look like Seagal.

Tony Jaa's stuntwork and fight choreography is as real as it gets. If you don't believe me, watch the credits in Chocolate. They accidentally fuck each other up like 32478632487 times and even use some of the scenes where they legit smash faces in in the film.

Also, when they have to take falls and shit, they don't use wires or CGI. They actually fall with nothing but padding under their clothes.

Kalyx triaD 08-16-2009 10:51 PM

I'm actually not too fond of the 'Real Fight' style of action filming. It's dangerous to the actors and stuntmen and my taste for quality choreography draws the line where these guys could seriously injure themselves. Not worth it as far as I'm concerned.

Blitz 08-16-2009 10:58 PM

Jesus Christo, I was referring to the stunt reel in the first post, not the movie trailer itself. Of course that shit doesn't compare to Ong Bak or anything.

Kalyx triaD 08-16-2009 11:46 PM

Subjection, I think the swordplay and stunts performed in the reel provides a different yet equally tasty form of action for me.

Funky Fly 08-16-2009 11:54 PM

I didn't say CGI swordplay is bad, I just have much more respect for guys who who can do this shit for real and/or who are dedicated enough to put their bodies on the line for this shit.

Juan 11-06-2009 01:43 AM

This movie looks bad ass.

DaveBrawl 11-06-2009 09:46 AM

Why are we bashing Seagal in here? I won't stand for that.

The Jayman 11-06-2009 10:25 AM

I won't either DaveBrawl

DaveBrawl 11-06-2009 11:15 AM

Disparaging the name of a cinematic genius like that. Shame on you all.
