TPWW World Sports Hall of Fame Sign Up thread

SO the local sports radio talkshow is doing this thing where they are making the "Earth Sports Fortress of Pantheon" where they have a 4 man panel make the world sports hall of fame.

I have decided to bring this to TPWW.

Here is what we will do.

We will sign up in this thread and form the Entrance Panel.

We will then have a Candidate nomination thread where all panel members will have a chance to nominate anyone they think deserves to be in the World Sports Hall of Fame. When making a nomination, you must provide a case as to why they are worthy of entrance. We will then vote on each candidate. Candidates must receive 75 percent of the vote to become a finalist.

We will then debate the finalists to fill the available slots.

We will be looking for the best of the best, which will combine stats, achievements, meaning to the game (Players who broke the mold and changed their sport).

Rules for Admission

No more than 30 members will be inducted.

No more than 5 from any one sport.

Sports Eligible: (Sports with limited candidates Combined based on size of player base)

Basketball
Baseball
Hockey
American Football
Soccer Football
Boxing/Mixed Martial Arts
Motorsports/Motorcross
Cricket
Golf
Tennis
Rugby
Track and Field
Cycling
Swimming

There must be 1 candidate from EACH sport selected into the Hall.

If you want to join the panel, respond here.

Applications will remain open for 5 days.

I would like to partake in said exercise

Savio 01-14-2009 08:48 PM

I would not

Hanso Amore 01-14-2009 08:51 PM

Then do not post in the thread!

I would like to see a 10 man panel at least.

Spread the word.

This will not work, Rob will name a load of irrelevent Scottish footballers, Krispy will name some even more irrelevent MMA fighters and Stima and SammyG will question anybody who is not participating in either the MLB, NFL or NBA.

Gertner 01-15-2009 05:47 PM

I wanna do hockey

Bad Company 01-15-2009 05:48 PM

I'd like to be on the Panel
I know lots about Cricket, Rugby and Motorsports. Enough about everything else.

What

Just because I wouldn't know who they are doesn't mean I would question them.

That's also why I don't want to participate, I won't know 75% of the people

ct2k 01-15-2009 05:53 PM

I wasn't being entirely serious, just highlighting the fact that I dont think this will work, the range of sports is too broad and the number of sportsmen named...vast.

Kapoutman 01-15-2009 06:33 PM

I would like to do this.

Hanso Amore 01-15-2009 07:13 PM

A good reason to do this is to learn more about other sports. I dont know shit about rugby, But Im sure I will be able to appreciate the best players ever.

Tazz Dan 01-15-2009 07:41 PM

I'll cover Cycling. I didn't read all you post cause I'm at work, but is that how you're doing it?

Sting Fan 01-15-2009 08:21 PM

Dont know how often i would get in here but my knowledge of Rugby, Cricket is very good. WRC and most other motorsports im pretty good on as well.

I also have a passing knowledge of NBA and NFL, golf, and tennis.

Well you dont have to cover just 1 sport.

BUt I think it is best that we have someone that knows all sports, so that when it comes time, you can present a case for your Cycling guys :)
