Dunno, for stuff like Dragonball, and Naruto, that have really distinctive visual styles, it can be almost impossible to translate to live action without sucking, as you said.

But stuff like cowboy bebop, that has a more realistic style to it, is definitely easier, and at least has a chance. I mean, given today's tech, I can't think of anything they can't bring over from the show, and represent it well. With the exception of ed. Don't see Ed translating well to the big screen, no matter who they get.

Dunno what you've been watching, Nunder, but the animation in most anime is generally better than most American cartoons. And yeah, the big eyes thing is differing art conventions, but they're not all massive and sparkly. Depends on the artists and genre, generally. Plus we all know Japanese have teeny tiny wangdangdoodles, so yeah.

Also, anime and manga, much like their western counterparts are umbrella terms for several similar and (especially) dissimilar concepts and genres that just happen to be conveyed through the same medium.

Looney Tunes is not Dora the Explorer is not He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Same with anime.

But it all comes down to personal tastes, so whatever, mang.
