Starship Troopers

I just watched this film last night and I have to say that it is fucking awesome.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-22-2009 05:48 PM

Great in a cheesy, B-movie way. But the sequels are shite.

Blitz 01-22-2009 05:56 PM

Nothing compared to the book, but not without it's goofy charms.

Kalyx triaD 01-22-2009 06:49 PM

B-Movie or not, it practically fathered 80% of FPS shooters since they went console. The special effects were freaking awesome. ILM were Gods back then.

I remember seeing it in sixth grade. Everybody was excited because we had gotten wind of the gratuitous shower scene. Then we had to wait in line to call for a ride home on the pay phone. That is my review of the movie. 7/10

Yes, good movie.

YOUR Hero 01-22-2009 09:56 PM

I remember going to the theater to see it and loving it. People were calling it shit as we were leaving and I disagreed with them. They didn't get it.
Some people just don't get it.

LOL have you been living under a rock or something?

PorkSoda 01-23-2009 02:16 AM

I saw half of the third one, I believe, and thought it was really good. My friend gave me the second one for christmas and I didn't even watch it yet.

Maybe I wouldn't like to know more...

Sting Fan 01-23-2009 04:42 AM

They are all B Grade movies really but I often hire all three out and have a watch.

I also like the way the news segments are situated through out the movie.

Hanso Amore 01-23-2009 10:48 AM

I loved its Propoganda news, like in RoboCop.

Same Director I think.

great movie in a horrible way.

I still to this day would love a Starship Troopers MMO :)

I think I watched the 2nd one on On Demand. I'll have to take a look at get back with the details.

PorkSoda 01-23-2009 02:26 PM

Why were they B movies? They seem good enough to be A movies....:wtf:

Jeritron 01-23-2009 02:57 PM

Robocop and Total Recall blow this out of the water as far as Paul Verhoven goes. I didn't really like Starship Troopers, even in a goofy movie type of way.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-23-2009 03:57 PM

It lacked a Denise Richards full-frontal nudity scene, which stopped it from being truly great. I'm sayin' what you are thinking.

The only good bug is a dead bug.

Also, this was not the first time I've seen this movie; just the first time in many years, and I wanted to give appreciation to it. It is very B-movie in the sense that it has a lot of cliche situations, characters and lines, but it still has awesome special effects and was shot with a considerable budget.

Kane Knight 01-25-2009 02:36 PM

Love the satirical nature of the movie.

Rammsteinmad 01-28-2009 05:32 AM

I love this film! I think I was 12 or something when I first saw it, so obviously I didn't get any of the political humour etc, it was just a great action/sci-fi film! Anyways, even today I enjoy watching it, and I think the CGI is some of the best I've ever seen (considering how most CGI looks absolute bollocks these days).

Requiem 01-28-2009 03:20 PM

loved it

One of the best ever.

BigDaddyCool 01-28-2009 04:04 PM

But Snakes on a Plane is better.
