New Joss Whedon goodness coming

So Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy, Angel, and Firefly) has got a new television series coming out in February (in the states, anyways), called, "Dollhouse." It stars everyones favourite Eliza Dusku and my wife-to-be, Amy Acker.

The premise is as followed:

Quote:

From Wikipedia

In Dollhouse, Eliza Dushku plays a young woman named Echo, a member of a group of people known as "Actives" or "Dolls." The Dolls have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, including memory, muscle memory, skills, and language, for different assignments. They're then hired out for particular jobs, crimes, fantasies, and occasional good deeds. On missions, Actives are monitored internally (and remotely) by Handlers. In between tasks, they are mind-wiped into a child-like state and live in a futuristic dormitory/laboratory, a hidden facility nicknamed "The Dollhouse". The story follows Echo, who begins, in her mind-wiped state, to become self-aware.

Beyond Dushku's character, the show will also revolve around the people who run the mysterious "Dollhouse" and two other "Dolls", Victor and Sierra, who are friendly with Echo. Although the Actives are ostensibly volunteers, the operation is highly illegal and under constant threat on one end from Paul Ballard, a determined federal agent who has heard a rumor about the dolls, and an insane rogue Active on the other.
Is anybody else looking forward to this, and heard any more about it?

Hopefully if it is good Fox won't fuck us over like they did with Firelfy.

Thoughts?

Acker is only playing a re-occuring charecter. Gonna be playin Fridays starting next month. I've been waiting for this for like two years now. I made a thread on it back then. Search function doesn't work though...:(

Blitz 01-25-2009 11:38 AM

I may watch, but may not bother, since it will be canceled after like 5 episodes.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-25-2009 12:14 PM

Nope. You'll get atleast 13 episodes. lol

Kane Knight 01-25-2009 02:30 PM

Since it's Wheedon, I'll check it out, but I expect them to run it against a major sporting eventor Survivor and cancel it because it's not drawing for some reason.

Jeritron 01-25-2009 02:48 PM

I don't really see the greatness of this guy

Jeritron 01-25-2009 02:49 PM

Firefly's okay but I can't stand the rest

D Mac 01-25-2009 03:04 PM

Dammit I want Serenity 2

If they're produced that doesn't mean they'll be aired. They'll be released on dvd eventually for fanboys, but a show can have however many episodes filmed and be canned after 1 episode if the channel sees fit.
Happens all the time. Just about every cancelled show that comes out on dvd contains episodes that were never aired.

Mr Regal 01-25-2009 03:28 PM

Sounds interesting, i'll dl it.

Lock Jaw 01-26-2009 12:16 AM

Don't really think much of the concept, but I'll wait and see.

Funky Fly 01-26-2009 01:32 AM

Premise is interesting. Way too easy to fuck up, but will be mind blowing if done right.

Destor 01-27-2009 01:50 AM

accurate breast size though

I read about the new show today - I'm a bit of a Joss Whedon mark so I'll check it out

ClockShot 02-13-2009 09:28 PM

I see Tahmoh Penikett had no problem finding work.

Who's watching right now?

Lock Jaw 02-13-2009 10:03 PM

I watched it. It was alright. Didn't totally capture me, but I'll be watching next week.

Downunder 02-13-2009 11:17 PM

I'm waiting for someone to upload it to Demonoid

DaveWadding 02-14-2009 12:09 AM

Joss Whedon =/= good

Destor 02-14-2009 06:58 PM

Thought this was pretty damn good. My father made the comparison that it's similar to Quantum Leap in terms of wht you can do with it. Solid comparison I thought. Anyways. Really looking forward to next week.

I think by he second season this is going to be great.

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-15-2009 07:00 AM

If it is allowed to reach a second season, that is.

I'm not going to worry about things I have no control over.

Mr. Nerfect 02-15-2009 08:08 AM

Fox is likely to fuck it up, even if Joss Whedon doesn't.

I'm not on the Whedon bandwagon. I've seen bits and pieces of his stuff around, but perhaps not enough, because I do not understand how this guy does something and people cum over it.

Mr. Nerfect 02-15-2009 08:12 AM

I mean, I cummed over Firefly, but that was mostly because of Summer Glau.

Boondock Saint 02-15-2009 07:48 PM

Ratings were pretty shit. Haven't watched it yet. Hoping it is good.

Downunder 02-16-2009 12:36 AM

I liked it - nothing to set the world on fire, but I think it will develop nicely.

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-16-2009 04:39 AM

On a sidenote, did anyone ever read the Buffy and Angel comics, and were they any good?

Boondock Saint 02-16-2009 04:53 AM

Watched it earlier tonight. It was aight

I read Buffy season 8 - not really my thing, I thought it was a bit shit.

Lock Jaw 02-16-2009 01:17 PM

Buffy Season Eight isn't too great thus far. It isn't horrible, but at the same time it hasn't been great.

Angel: After the Fall was tremendous though.

Gertner 02-16-2009 03:58 PM

Eliza Dushku :)

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-16-2009 06:15 PM

Not to get off topic (again), I've been watching buffy lately and I have decided that all lasses (girls, chicks, etc however you refer to them) should be like Willow. Pre-lesbian-evil witch Willow, that is.

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-11-2009 05:18 PM

So Dollhouse has been cancelled.

Whedon just can't catch a break. Not with Fox, anyways.

Still haven't seen this programme yet, either.

Kris P Lettus 11-11-2009 06:29 PM

He directed an episode of the Office..

The one with the bat..

Droford 11-11-2009 06:47 PM

Doesnt he want a shot at re-doing a Superman movie?

Kane Knight 11-11-2009 07:28 PM

Not a jab at Joss, but I was surprised it made it this long.

Jura 11-11-2009 08:30 PM

Fox should have stuck with TSCC instead.

Lock Jaw 11-12-2009 12:13 AM

:'(

Whedon should really stop making shows for Fox. Should go to the CW. They air anything.

D Mac 11-12-2009 12:24 AM

Yeah Terminator should have made it instead of this.
