Better Wrestler #55

Morrison is getting on a roll and he's just three wins away from going into the HoF. Today we have a challenger coming back for a second crack at it, he was in the first BW and he's fueded Morrison. This might be a good one:

Punk is infinitly more talented than Morrison. Punk is GOLD on the stick. Morrison is hit and miss. Punk he ZERO trouble getting over when he jumped to the big stage or on the indies. Morrison has struggled to get over throughout his entire career. Punk has main event level psychology, Morrison has TNA level psychology. They're both fun workers, but Punk is WAY better.

4 knuckles up 01-26-2009 08:47 AM

Morrison, by a slight margin. I think he's a little more less prone to botching his spots than Punk. (You guys saw the amount of botched springboards at the rumble, right?)

Still, close call.

The Mackem 01-26-2009 08:53 AM

Punk

Wow. Have you ever seen the botched Shooting Star that was a complete miss, and the match still ends?

But, to give an answer to who is the Better Wrestler...C.M. Punk.

Why?

Because he doesn't drink, do drugs, or smoke. He is straight-edge. I feel that when a wrestler or anyone for that matter discipline themselves enough to achieve something, you are better than others. Punk also loves competition, does Morrison? I dunno, he's never told me.

Not to mention, Punk is a Triple-Crown Winner. ECW TITLE does not count as a Triple Crown.

BigDaddyCool 01-26-2009 09:43 AM

Morrison. Why? Abs, that is why, plus you have to do drugs to be any good at wrestling, I mean look at HBK, Hulk Hogan, Scott Steiner, RVD, John Morrison, and Ultimate Warrior, they are all legends and do drugs. Punk is a nobody, I haven't even heard of him.

Plus did I mention the abs? Which Punk doesn't have.

Plus I just like Morrison. He is my favorite wrestler right now.

Innovator 01-26-2009 09:50 AM

Hmmm, Morrison's abs vs. Punk

I wonder who I'm going with

ron the dial 01-26-2009 10:21 AM

cm punk without a doubt

Bingo

Morrison is extremely talented and will without a doubt in my mind be a top player some day, but I feel Punk is more well rounded and once he turns heel everyone will see how great he is on the mic. I still feel one day Punk can be the best thing going for the WWE. Punk gets my vote.

BigDaddyCool 01-26-2009 12:45 PM

I completely disagree with Destor. Destor doesn't know what he is talking about. I don't think Destor really even know what wrestling is, and I doubt Destor even watches wrestling more than once a month at best.

Krimzon7 01-26-2009 12:53 PM

My vote goes to Morrison. Where Punk is better now, he has maxed out his potential. I feel that Morrison has loads of untapped talent left. He is still a virtual babe in sports entertainment.

Krimzon7 01-26-2009 12:58 PM

Also, while I can agree that I will like Punk more as a heel, why does he HAVE to be one for me to see how "golden" he is on the stick? If you can talk the talk, does it truly matter the role he plays?

ron the dial 01-26-2009 01:03 PM

maxed out his potential? elaborate.

ron the dial 01-26-2009 01:08 PM

ok so i haven't been watching recently but i know this. cm punk has not turned heel yet. that fact alone means that there is so much potential left to be maxed out that it makes your statement ridiculous. you might be right as a face because like i said i really don't know but somehow i doubt that, too. regardless of what you think of him in the ring, his character has a lot more depth left to explore.

but when you guys say "Better Wrestler" do you literally mean most skilled wrestler?

BigDaddyCool 01-26-2009 01:13 PM

Better Wrestler is just the name. It is more of who do you preffer for whatever reason.

Better Wrestler is defined by who you feel is the better wrestler. That only means in ring if you want it to. To me being a wrestler is a job and that entails every facet of his job.

ron the dial 01-26-2009 01:19 PM

i would have voted cm punk either way

BigDaddyCool 01-26-2009 01:20 PM

I would have vote Morrison's abs either way.

Krimzon7 01-26-2009 01:26 PM

I know the Punk that is on WWE tv is the watered down, Flinstone Kids version of the Punk that most of you all fell in love with. When I say he has reached his limit, I feel like he cannot do anymore to improve his current character. I just don't see him going heel as the answer to him being so bland.

ron the dial 01-26-2009 01:28 PM

ok. i disagree. you could be right based on how they make the turn and who it involves. but still i disagree.

BigDaddyCool 01-26-2009 01:48 PM

While WWE does need to turn some of the guys on Raw, like Cena and Rey and maybe even Punk, they aren't going because WWE doesn't have the balls to have a small hickup in merch sales.

Lock Jaw 01-26-2009 02:19 PM

I have never seen Punk anywhere except WWE. And based on what I've seen, I'd call him highly over-rated.

Then again, Morrison is also a tad over-rated.

Both have wonderful amounts of potential though.

I'm going to have to give my vote to Punk though, because he's just had more opportunity to shine and show me his stuff in big time matches. Morrison will get there someday, but for now Punk is ahead.

This x2

Jeritron 01-26-2009 04:33 PM

Yea, people like Morrison because he's funny, entertaining. He has "it". He just needs to refine the skills and experience to make it matter.
But, they like him because he has the potential to "get there". CM Punk, on the other hand, is already there.
I don't mean in terms of place on the card or holding titles, although that's the case too. I mean the ability to work on a top level in the bigtime.

I like Morrison, but I have to be real. CM Punk wins now. I hope this will be a closer race in 3 or 4 years.

Jeritron 01-26-2009 05:06 PM

lol I was gonna quote Lock Jaw and make a point, and realized that he didn't say that stuff at the end.

That's lible.

Anyways, yea, I disagree with a ton of that. In particular though, I disagree with blaming him for having the title put on him early. You don't like him because he didn't pay his dues? He wrestled in indie promotions, and OVW for a long time, and even TNA. He's not green.
Also, what was he supposed to say, no don't put the title on me I need to pay my dues? How does that affect his worth as a pound for pound wrestler/entertainer? That's booking.

What are your thoughts on Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, and Undertaker? They were all quicker to the title in WWE than him.

Anybody Thrilla 01-26-2009 05:07 PM

I'm a Morrison mark, but I really would enjoy a Punk heel turn. Voted Morrison, but it's nothing personal.

Anybody Thrilla 01-26-2009 05:08 PM

Punk's even good on the mic as a face, for the record, especially compared to a lot of other WWE talents at press time.

Rammsteinmad 01-27-2009 01:18 AM

CM Punk.

thedamndest 01-27-2009 02:48 AM

I voted based on which man I would rather skeet on.

Fabien Barthez 01-27-2009 05:48 AM

I personally don't like CM Punk's moveset, or his captain generic look, but he is the better worker of the two. without doubt.

I didnt know Punk worked in the indies till a bit after he won the title. So I only have ever seen him in the WWE.

It would be like 10 years ago, WWE somehow gets Sting to sign a contract.
They put the title on him, of course he has paid his dues in WCW but you are going to have some grouchy fans.

If I was Punk, I would have said how about we wait a bit, let the crowd get a feel for me before I win that. If that isnt a respectable comment to make regarding getting the title put on you, which is a big honor, I dont know what is.

Angle, Lesnar, Undertaker

Angle - Had that look, he was proclaimed as an actual wrestler and backed it up with amazing skill in the ring. Also he won the IC and European titles before and feuded with the lower-card people

Lesnar - Overly hyped, made to look amazing as soon as he got there, however I dont agree with him getting the WWE title so early. Maybe the IC for a bit, but I agree it was much too quick.

Undertaker - Made to look like an unstoppable monster, whom once his sights were set get out of his way. Giving him the world title so early may have been a mistake, though I believe it added prestige to him being a monster, an amazing asset to WWE for years and a dominant force in the business.

Anybody Thrilla 01-27-2009 10:12 AM

You don't turn down a World title run, Fallen Angel. You just don't.

Anybody Thrilla 01-27-2009 10:12 AM

Unless you're HBK or Undertaker or something.

The Mackem 01-27-2009 10:47 AM

Yeah that would be a bit strange, you'd be left kicking yourself for the rest of your life if you never got the opportunity again.

So what? Just because you didn't know about it, it didn't matter? It's not like the average mark knows Angle's development either.
It really doesn't matter. Besides, Punk DID pay dues in WWE. Maybe not as much as HBM or Bret, or whoever, but it's not like he won it on his first night. He payed just as many dues as The Rock, or Orton or Batista or Cena, or a lot of guys. Check the list of guys who won the title within two years of being in the company, it's not short. He wrestled plenty of matches in ECW and worked his way up the card. Remember when he jobbed to Bob Holly? That was part of "dues".

Shit. Foley was only in the company for two years and change before winning the title. Same with Austin. So just because their dues weren't in the WWF means they don't count?

Punk has a look too. He's way over to the crowd. Punk also won the ECW title and MITB first (which are close to what those titles were back then) as well as competing and fueding with many midcarders. He worked his way up the card for 2 years before the title.
Same deal.

I think you just don't like Punk, which is fair enough, but your facts are off.

Also, Lesnar winning the IC title would have been pointless. He was pushed as a monster, not "overhyped".

Fabien Barthez 01-27-2009 06:12 PM

Just to add to that, I don't think Angle particulaly had a good look for a world champion. Back when he won it, I would say his closest comparison for look was Bob Backlund, and although he was a champion in the late 70's/early 80's, it didn't really match that of anyone else who had been main eventing for like, 20 years.

He looked like a big nerd, and his gimmick was a big nerd as well.

Kurt Angle was a beast. During the Invasion angle, he was a monster. Nothing and no one could stop him. The first match with Stone Cold, 3 stunners and he STILL kicked out. They made him what a champion should be.

Inadequacy 01-27-2009 07:01 PM

I'm a big fan of both guys, but Punk is one of the only reasons I watch RAW anymore. I love seeing Morrison, but I've just always been a bigger fan of Punk.

thedamndest 01-27-2009 07:09 PM

I believe everything you CM Punkers are saying. I see the words coming out of your mouth. But to the WWE, Punk is Rodney Dangerfield. He ain't gettin' no respect. He's paid his dues, his pops are consistent, but despite being IC champion and the newest Triple Crown Star, he gets shut out of the Chamber. Will we even see the IC title be defended at NWO? Lex Luger says, "I DON'T KNOWWWWWWWWW!!!!"

No, this is not "Better Booked #55." Obviously Punk has been in matches Morrison will only dream about. But in the WWE, that doesn't matter. Thus, Morrison gets my vote, based on how they are being used now. Not that it matters because Punk has a solid lead.
