Edge is a 7-Time Champion.

Edge is moving on up!!!

Volare 01-26-2009 10:13 AM

It is pretty wierd when you think about it. But he's put his time in, and I do enjoy seeing reaping the rewards, even though he's a heel.

BigDaddyCool 01-26-2009 10:14 AM

They are all short title runs.

Volare 01-26-2009 10:17 AM

True, but I do enjoy seeing him winning it, then losing, and all of a sudden BAM he's won it out of nowhere.

BigDaddyCool 01-26-2009 10:19 AM

Well that is what happens when you are fucking the boss.

Volare 01-26-2009 10:21 AM

Dude, you know your cool with me, but you just put an image in my head that just F'n WRONG!!

Kane Knight 01-26-2009 10:21 AM

In an era where title runs are handed out like candy. Yay.

Krimzon7 01-26-2009 11:28 AM

While his runs are short, they're infinitely more entertaining than other options. Definitely better than Khali and Batista's dances with the title. The only time I enjoyed Taker with the belt was when edge was chasing him.

Dorkchop 01-26-2009 12:23 PM

Edge is the ultimate opportunist. I think he might be the cheapest champ ever (kayfabe wise).

BigDaddyCool 01-26-2009 12:25 PM

Agreed with dorky.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-26-2009 12:45 PM

He's come a long way from getting beat down by the Dungeon of Doom on WCW Worldwide.

Savio 01-26-2009 01:53 PM

I like edge he makes me happy.

I still don't ever catch smackdown though

He is by far the BEST, when it comes to Big Gimmick Matches. He can work the stick better than most within the WWE, he deserves his many title reigns. Though short, I can remember pretty much every single one of them.

Slow 01-26-2009 02:20 PM

He's one of the best performers (and heels) ever seen, and it's good that he's got loads of titles - people are far more likely to remember a 7 time world champion than a 1 time champ. Fair play to him, he deserves the credit, worked his way up from being Gangrel's sidekick to main eventing wrestlemania, after all.

Krimzon7 01-26-2009 02:34 PM

Edge entertains me. I can watch his matches and I am throroughly pleased for doing so. He's held damn near every title. Good for Edge.

Jeritron 01-26-2009 02:53 PM

Well I agree that he has "moved on up". He's legitimate that's for sure. They entrust him with the title and main event spots consistently, and he has main evented countless PPVs over top guys, including a Wrestlemania.

There's no denying that he's now valued and solidified as a top guy. I don't think how many titles reigns has anything to do with it though, since that's not a real indicator of success. A lot goes into that kayfabe number.

HBK and Undertaker have less and they have more tenure and credibility on and off stage than just about anyone in the business.
At the same time, HHH and Flair have a ton of reigns, and are just as legendary as those guys.

Khali and Mark Henry have more world title reigns than Roddy Piper, Curt Hennig, Scott Hall and Ted Dibiase Sr.

RatedGSuperstar 01-26-2009 03:34 PM

I was a little surprised to hear that it was Edge's 7th world title, but even more surprised when I went to look how how many titles total he's won during his time in WWE and counted 25 (11-time World Tag champ, 5-time IC champ, 4-time WWE champ, 3-time World Heavyweight champ, WWE Tag champ, US champ). For 10 years of work, that's pretty incredible.

He's always been one of my favorites, though (I still mark out watching TLC2 at WMX-7 and seeing him spear a dangling Jeff Hardy from the top of a ladder), so I'm glad to see him with the belt again...he always delivers the goods, and I'd rather have Edge racking up cheap title wins than Triple H.

Krimzon7 01-26-2009 03:37 PM

RGS, who do you think will take the title off edge? a win for edge is a win for Trips. Vicious Cycle.

RatedGSuperstar 01-26-2009 03:55 PM

Very true. They've had the dumb Triple H/Vickie feud going on for awhile now, so no doubt it'll lead to some kind of program with Trips walking out to WM with the title. Reality bites, but there's really no other contenders out there right now. They'll avoid the Undertaker route because that was done last year, and the Hardys will be busy beating each other up.

Krimzon7 01-26-2009 04:01 PM

Yeah, After feeding his streak to UT, I want edge to get a good CLEAN victory at mania. But he'll bow down...which brings me to anothe question, How much longer can trips stand being a face before he goes full on heel again?

Well he'll keep standing until he tears another quadricep.

Not that I want to lay smack on BDC, but I would point out that the Rock's runs were all fairly short.

True, but you also have to consider the following:

1) The Rock was never perceived (perception is the key word here) to be a 'transitional' champ. Edge, for all/most of his reigns, was.

2) Although I consider 'Tedious' to not be a "dumb" poster, I would also argue that he is not in the "upper echelon" in terms of his intelligence (the proof is in the postings...including the one that I am quoting).
