Have DiBiase and Rhodes actually done anything? *minor spoilers*

I mean, I know that wasn't the big threat of Monday Night, but does the threat of them walking actually mean anything? I mean, I could see WWE (Onscreen) worrying about the threat of larger names like JBL or Michaels or even Kane walking, but have these guys, you know....Done anything that would merit such a threat (onscreen)?

The Optimist 01-27-2009 09:50 AM

I've been told they have potential. If you want to count that it's up to you.

BigDaddyCool 01-27-2009 09:53 AM

Well with the smallest roster in years, Raw would be down 3 more wrestlers...

Volare 01-27-2009 10:18 AM

If Orton is saying they are worth something...I expect something big soon.

BigDaddyCool 01-27-2009 10:50 AM

Rhodes is a 3 time tag champ, and DiBiase is a 2 time tag champ, that is something, right?

Volare 01-27-2009 11:09 AM

True but you know what I mean...the BIG picture.

BigDaddyCool 01-27-2009 11:26 AM

Who has done anything lately besides Orton?

Potential doesn't really count. Not in the sense of this being a huge loss.

They distracted HHH long enough for Orton to eliminate him from the Rumble. Cody had a backstage segment with Goldust, the focus of which seemed to be the recently available Best of Starrcade DVD. That is all I can think of.

Legend Killer 01-27-2009 01:07 PM

Well, yes they are worth a lot. Rhodes and Dibiase---Key words.

mynameiscarterr 01-27-2009 01:40 PM

I don't think that Rhodes and DiBiase are future WWE Champions, but I could see them being Intercontinental Champions.
I would really like to see a feud of CM Punk and Kofi Kingston vs. "Priceless"
I know that they had a match for the belts, but that was it.
I think it would make a very interesting feud.

RatedGSuperstar 01-27-2009 03:12 PM

I think the problem is that Orton just assumed we thought they were amazing because they're associated with him and second-gen wrestlers. Fine...that's kind of the gimmick of the stable. He could've made them look better by saying that if Stephanie fired him, she'd be losing out on three of the final four wrestlers in the Rumble, or the three wrestlers from Raw that lasted the longest, or whatever. I do agree it's a pretty lame threat when neither has ever held a singles belt, though.

Juan 01-27-2009 03:17 PM

Well Stephanie didn't dismiss the threat, so I'm guessing she agrees that they're a commodity. In kayfabe, of course.

Juan 01-27-2009 03:17 PM

I'm a big fan of Priceless though.

thedamndest 01-27-2009 03:27 PM

I do not like their new theme.

I don't like any new themes

XL 01-27-2009 05:28 PM

I think it's all about implication.

Although Orton didn't state as much he was basically saying "You'll be losing two of the youngest guys on the roster. Two guys that have wrestling in their blood. Two guys that have the potential to be the future of WWE".

Perhaps if he'd actually said that it might have hammered the point home a little better.

She was also dealing with bigger threats in the form of lawyers and those bullshit claims of injunctions.

Which still doesn't really seem viable. I mean, WWE may look at it that way because they want to believe it (As they seem to want to believe they can have a PG show and still keep the late teen and twenties male market), but honestly, I can't help but look at such a threat and picture 2 Cool threatening to walk. Two guys (Including Rikishi) with wrestling lineage whose potential led to their role as "dancing bears." Almost literally.

I'm sure WWE thinks they have more value, or they wouldn't be pushing them as Orton's flunkies, but damn, fthey're still flunkies.

BigDaddyCool 01-27-2009 05:47 PM

Scotty 2 Hotty has wrestling lineage?

At least 2 Cool was over as a tag team. Priceless still gets no reaction when they're not backing up Orton.

BigDaddyCool 01-27-2009 06:09 PM

That is because DiBiase sucks the life out of the Arena. Rhodes is ok as a lacky, but DiBiase sucks.

He just needs time to develop. I happen to like Ted alot and particularly enjoyed his performance at the rumble.

wwe2222 01-27-2009 07:49 PM

I think Cody has been a good heel, but I dont see him as much more than a a sidekick. He is just so non threatening looking.

Maybe because 50% of the crowd aren't old enough to know, let alone to have seen, DiBiase's old man. So, just because they're being told this guy is a son of a legend, doesn't mean they're going to go nuts for him.

Theo Dious 01-27-2009 08:27 PM

I see it this way- Rhodes and DiBiase aren't there to actually do anything. They're there so that Orton can look like a leader, and so that they can learn up close. Being sons of legends, they can be banked on to be in it long-term. If they did anything specific, they'd get too much attention, and probably split up and turned face prematurely. Think of it this way - if Orton had stood by and done nothing a bit more, he might not have spent so much time spinning his wheels post-Evolution.

Grandmaster Sexay and Rikishi do.

Mostly because there's no reason to react.

Or, we could be more realistic and say that if he hadn't shat in bags, done drugs, and been an all around douchebag, he might not have spent so much time spinning his wheels post-evolution. His "doing nothing" had little to do with his lack of a place. He had everything, and he shat it away. Well, he fake-shat it away. You get the point. That is SO not a function of time spent, and more a function of him being a stupid motherfucker who thinks WWE owes him, and WWE being stupid motherfuckers who won't learn.

Fox 01-27-2009 11:50 PM

Vince knows that if he lets them walk then Russo will immediately put the TNA Title on them in less than 2 months, feature them in overbooked storylines, and kill their careers.

He is actually looking out for these young bucks.

Kane Knight 01-28-2009 07:49 AM

So when I said "Two" and "including Rikishi," you had trouble because....

BigDaddyCool 01-28-2009 10:18 AM

Cause I'm dumb and was thinking you meant 2 Cool had wrestling linage, and so did Rikishi. Like I said, I'm, dumb.

Kane Knight 01-28-2009 10:30 AM

You should have gone the Noid route. "Of course I said something stupid. That's the point!"

Fox 01-28-2009 11:53 AM

Stop poking the Noid.

Kane Knight 01-28-2009 02:29 PM
