WWF to WWE transition period

So how many days did it take to change from WWF to WWE?

FourFifty 01-31-2009 04:30 AM

Off hand I don't recall, however the first match they had on tv under the name WWE was a hardcore 543333335 man cluster fuck where the title changed hands 953459025890 times. Each time Lillian would announce the new WWE hardcore champion.

6. On the 7th day Vince rested.

Did the Get The F Out campaign start before or after the change? If after it took one show.

It started on that Raw. I think the show kicked off with the guy with the WWF logo for a head getting the "f" out.

I thought it started with some advert of some guy trimming a bush?

it was just a one day thing, if i recall correctly

all of a sudden the company was called WWE, and lawler excitedly said "we're getting the F out!" at the start of raw, and that's where all the get the F out shit started

i died a little inside :(

I remember the first Raw when the name changed, JR was still wearing a WWF logo polo shirt

I blame Lou.

It was a very confusing and disappointing episode of RAW.

TerranRich 03-01-2009 01:03 AM

The change happened overnight. I remember going to the Royal Rumble 2001 site (way after the event took place) and saw the logo changed, before I heard about the WWF/WWE change.

Yeah, it officially was changed on 5/5/2 and then announced on the next night's RAW (5/6/2) @ the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, CT, for those looking for the exact dates that WWE became the company's new initials. It's rather confusing however, to buy a DVD of whatever superstar/May 2002-present PPV DVD or whatever and they have to edit out, for example, the announcers saying "WWF" in a title match situation. All you hear is blah blah blah, so and so is putting the (...) title on the line, but they don't have to make any edit's regarding the term "World Wrestling Federation".

parkmania 03-03-2009 03:21 PM

It's really annoying to me when they are talking about HoFers and mention that so-and-so was "X-time WWE champion", when he retired before the name change. I understand they can't say "WWF" any more, but just call them "World Champion" FFS.

Juan 03-03-2009 03:22 PM

I know what you mean. They should at least say World Wrestling Federation

Hornicane 03-03-2009 05:50 PM

They can't call them the World Heavyweight champion because that's the WCW Title, or wtf ever. Would it really be that bad to just call it the Federation title or some shit?

But yeah, that bugs the hell out of me too. Stan Stasiak was never the WWE champion.

Xero 03-03-2009 09:47 PM

I do notice they really push the WWWF when they can.

Calling them the World Wrestling Federation champion is the perfect compromise.
