Edge

Will the WWE ever have Edge win a heavyweight title belt on his own? Maybe he has and i don't remember, but it seems like his every title reign was won with help. His M.I.T.B. wins came after the champ was all ready in a match, (with the undertaker it was after his match with batista and then Mark Henry also beat him up), Ryder and Hawkins dressed like him in one match to help him win the belt once. now with Matt Hardy's help.

I understand that as a heel he will get some cheap wins, but he should have some clean wins in there to make him a legitimate champ. I think that it would make him stronger as a champ.

Edge will be doing the commentary of the "Greatest Transitional Championship Runs in the History of the WWE" dvd. Also featured: Kane, Yokozuna, and of course CM Punk.

Well his hard work has given WWE the ability to let him win it 7 times, that says something.

JR was screaming it wasn't fair, but I consider his second WWE Title Reign to had been won cleanly, it was a NO DQ Match and afterall, and there was no interference, except maybe a failed (and botched attempt by Lita to interfere which lead to a FU) Cena then hit a FU on RVD, Edge nailed Cena with the belt, and pinned Van Dam.

I am too busy marking out when edge wins a belt to care if it's clean or not. He's the ultimate opportunist, winning clean would make him the ultimate heel, and HHH has that designation on special reservation. The way he wins further cements his legacy.

They also let Gilberg hold the Light HeavyWeight title for something like 15 months. Was that for his hard work?

I don't have a problem with Edge holding the belt, i find him very entertaining. ( i love that he brought back the pose on smackdown friday) But in my opinion just having the belt doesn't mean you are a champion. I think that it loses its meaning of being the champ unless you can validate it and i don't feel that they have ever validated him being the champion. Has he ever gotten a clean win on Cena, Batista or Undertaker?

Ric Flair in his day being champ won many times by cheating and interfearence, but also would have clean wins over his biggest opponents back in the day validating him being the champ.

Maybe i just like the old days alittle more when it seemed like the champ meant something. Now there are too many titles and i think it hurts more than helps with the image and prestidge of being a champion.

It's his schtick. It doesn't matter how he wins it, he's a main eventer for sure. He has main evented a Wrestlemania. Just because he's a heel champion for faces to beat, doesn't mean he's neccesarily your textbook transitional champion.
He's enough of a top tier performer that they turn to him for Wrestlemania main events. Probably this year too.

I don't think he'll be winning titles clean until he's a face, since his whole heel gimmick is based around new and interesting ways in which he can manage to scam the title.

I don't really have a problem with him winning them the way he does. It's perfect for his Ultimate Opportunist gig. I just think that he could have had some longer reigns, or not jobbed to the first big face that came along.

I honestly hope Edge never wins a title cleanly, face or not. His gimmick now is so much better than it was when he came back from injury and just said "I'm going to be World Champion!" He's just so much more interesting now, I really can't see him becoming a wrestler's wrestler and dropping the UO thing.

I hope he never turns face ever again, there comes a time that some wrestlers have got to stay heel and never return to being a face. It's the Million Dollar Man Influenza as I like to refer to it. If someone is so good at what they do, which Edge is...Why Change It?

Yea. It's an amazing gimmick. It doesn't really make him weak either. It just makes him a snake. He can compete on the highest level, but prefers taking a plotted shortcut.
He's like the brilliant kid who can write an amazing paper, but spends more effort coming up with ways to get out of doing it.

I think he's put over well in his matches. Even when he loses, he's a tough bastard. He has had some strong showings against The Undertaker. He kicks out of finishers, and takes him to the limit. He also has strong showings against HBM, HHH, and Cena. And whoever else.

In the Wrestlemania main event they made him look good. Same with Summerslam, and any big payoff PPV match he's in. Naturally as the heel he's going to most of the time lose the big match. That's just the way it works.

But I'd more accurately describe his character as a sneak and a cheat, rather than a pussy.

Yea, Jeritron pretty said what i wanted to say. Nice analogy with the smart kid/paper thing :y:

If they decided to merge Raw and SD, I think I would want the title match to be Rated RKO exploding.
