So Noid, buddy this ones for you. What do you have to say Val Venis Yay or Nay? He was one of those guys who was an "Attitude Era" character, the way he use to moan and groan whenever he would spoke was perfect for that time. He was a multitime Intercontinental, European and tag team champ. He was "Chief of Staff" for Erich Bischoff, he was apart of Right to Censor, and even had some solid tag teams with Lance Storm, Viscera, and the Godfather. He was pretty much just a "main event on Heat" for the past few years. He was always a solid worker. I thought that even though he was only working for Heat he still had a solid fisherman's suplex, half nelson slam, spinout reverse powerbomb, and The Money Shot was always done well. I will say Yay to early "Attitude Era" Big Valbosky/ Venis-envy days, and I'll give him a yay just because he worked hard even though he was a mid-card lifer.

I'd say yay. Seems like a decent dude all around, and was a more than passable worker.

Yay as a worker, nay as a character post-2001.

Yay. He was a great worker, and was over in the attitude era. He was a totally ridiculous gimmick, but for some reason it fit and he was great in the role. He had some great segments, and some even better matches. He was totally a product of the times though, and when that era ended and the gimmick was stale he was just a good worker without a gimmick.

Like Thed said, nay to him after 2001 (as a character, although his workrate didn't mean anything anymore in a tv environment anyways).

I say meh.

Jeritron 02-01-2009 06:45 PM

I liked him a lot in the first few months of 1999.

He had some good moments when he first entered the company, but he was never one of my favorites. In fact, the only time I really liked him was when he was wrestling under his real name.

Meh.

Xero 02-01-2009 07:19 PM

I say yay in a non-Noid way.

That just happened to rhyme. :shifty:

Come to think of it though, that isn't saying much. Kurrgan was over in 1999. KURRGAN.

You are kind of doomed to mediocrity with a name and gimmick like he was given, but he got the gimmick over, he added a ton of trademarks, like his catchphrases, the towel, the pre match promo. He was great really. Had he been booked differently from the start, well.... he looks a bit like HHH, he was built like Hunter, he has the same voice as HHH and a better wrestler. Think about it.

Big Yay from me. If only he was booked like a winner.

Xerzes 02-01-2009 11:16 PM

Yay yay and double-yay. Original Val Venis = yes. Chief Morley = yes.

AKin3D 02-01-2009 11:41 PM

SAVING RYAN'S PRIVATES

I agree, any guy who could get over making schlong jokes and cavorting with bath towel has to have some talent. I don't recall any decent feuds, I didn't like his finisher either. The only thing I did like was the fact that the name(The Money Shot) was pretty cool.:naughty:
