LOL Attitude Adjuster

Was last night the first time they called the FU that? I admit, I tune out when Cena's on, so it might not be.

Xero 02-03-2009 09:55 AM

...That is retarded.

My Final Heaven 02-03-2009 10:04 AM

On one hand, Cena's used vintage stuff in the past, like reusing the the oldschool logo & the throwback jerseys....

But on the other hand

HE CALLS THIS MOVE THE ATTITUDE ADJUSTER!

Like it was a brand new move he was busting out for the first time. Hilarious.

Haze 02-03-2009 10:19 AM

If that was the best they could come up with...then why bother giving it a name at all?

Kane Knight 02-03-2009 10:25 AM

You have to name a finisher. And FU isn't just the first two letters in FUN.

Xero 02-03-2009 10:28 AM

Cole: Vintage Modified Slam by Cena!

Nark Order 02-03-2009 10:40 AM

Actually, I think naming it "The First Two Letters of Fun" would have been a much better name than the "Attitude Adjuster".

Btw, is this a secret jab at smarks by saying the attitude era is over and Cena is adjusting it to PG? Ok, that's reaching but it's funny that JR said something about the attitude era ending on his blog then Cena renames his finisher to the "Attitude Adjuster'.

Xero 02-03-2009 10:50 AM

I was thinking that, but I don't think they're that clever.

It would be pretty funny if they named it the S MARK, though.

Savio 02-03-2009 10:58 AM

I thought they called Batista the Attitude adjuster.

CSL 02-03-2009 11:43 AM

They've been calling it 'The Throwback' the last few weeks haven't they?

screech 02-03-2009 11:47 AM

I've never heard them call it that [Throwback] on TV, though the rumors were swirling.

CSL 02-03-2009 11:48 AM

I heard them say it the last time I saw Cena on TV (I have no idea when this was but it was during the last 3-4 weeks, probably the Rumble)

screech 02-03-2009 11:53 AM

I missed it then. If I didn't know any better, I'd think it was called "Going For the Victory" because that's the only name I heard Michael Cole call it.

Afterlife 02-03-2009 12:00 PM

All I've heard was "The Pattented Maneuver".

CSL 02-03-2009 12:14 PM

I know I've heard Michael Cole's little rat voice say 'The Throwback' because I was quite shocked that they actually went ahead and changed the name

JT 02-03-2009 01:10 PM

Liontamer = Wall's of Jericho
Olympic Slam = Angle Slam
WWF = WWE

Like everything else, we'll either get use to it or be stuborn and just refer to it by it's old name. It's a crappy finisher anyway.

BigDaddyCool 02-03-2009 01:42 PM

The Liontamer =/= Walls of Jericho. The Liontamer is a high angle boston crab. The Walls of Jericho is a regular boston crab.

Liontamer

Walls of Jericho

The Olympic Slam and WWF were changed because of legal reasons, which is understandable.

They changed FU because they are going for a more kiddy friendly product. So they don't just changed all the names all willy nilly.

The Attitude Adjuster is a dumb name.

Executioner 02-03-2009 01:50 PM

Didn't Luger call his Piledriver, back when he first won the WCW title in 1991, the Attitude Adjuster? He was supposedly taught that move by Harley Race?

Jeritron 02-03-2009 02:16 PM

Yea BDC, but that high angle Liontamer version was used in WWF for years. Until 2002 it was the same move, and called the Walls of Jericho.

Afterlife 02-03-2009 03:04 PM

Also, the WWF/E name change was the dumbest fucking thing ever, simply on the basis of "You aren't allowed to have the same initials as us". Completely retarded. Also, "Attitude Adjuster" isn't bad, it just doesn't really apply.

BigDaddyCool 02-03-2009 03:05 PM

I can understand the World Wildlife Fund not wanting to be associated with a bunch of big dumb animals.

Afterlife 02-03-2009 03:08 PM

They weren't!

Fox 02-03-2009 03:58 PM

I really don't see why he can't just do a Death Valley Driver. Is that so hard? Perry Saturn can do it, and he hasn't been able to find his car for the past 2 years.

It started out as a DVD. I was watching Cena/Brock from when Brock was champ and he goes through the FU setup (up on the shoulders, looking into the hard camera) but the move was a lot more DVD-ish and Michael Cole even called it 'that Death Valley Driver'. I'm guessing, like Jericho with the Walls etc, he just went a quicker, more simple route as he went on

McLegend 02-03-2009 04:13 PM

They shouldn't give it another name.

Just say "There it is" or whatever generic line Cole told to say.

That is better way to handle this situation.

Threes of examples can't be wrong!

Anyway, it was more funny than "They ruined an awesome name like FU!"

Xero 02-03-2009 05:10 PM

Remember when Taker's Demon Lock used to be "That Submission Move"? That was such a better name.

Kane Knight 02-03-2009 05:15 PM

I think they should go the SVR commentary route.

"What an amazing finisher from this performer!"

"This Superstar is all fired up!"

"Here's your winner...THE SOLLLLDIER!"

#BROKEN Hasney 02-03-2009 05:34 PM

They should have gone with one of the generic CAF moves from SvR2009. Even Uber Driver is better than the Attitude Adjuster

Rammsteinmad 02-03-2009 06:25 PM

Attitude Adjuster is such a mouthful to say for a finisher. At least FU was quick and easy.

Moss-covered three-handled family credenza.

CSL 02-03-2009 07:59 PM

Yeah but how many times did Saturn actually go over for Vince? It'd have been like renaming Val Venis' 'Money Shot' the Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Splash a few months ago

He got fired instead though

Armbar!

Shadow 02-04-2009 12:29 AM

..................man now how long until this becomes second-nature to us? FUCK!

Vastardikai 02-04-2009 01:26 AM

Why not the Cena Nuff?

The Attitude Adjuster will ALWAYS be the Lex Luger piledriver in my eyes.

GD 02-04-2009 01:30 AM

I always get pissed off when the wwe boasts having so many writers and they cannot come up with a finisher's name! Com'n.

Exyle 02-04-2009 01:30 AM

I wonder why they changed it from "Throwback." That actually wasn't too bad. Cena's throwing the guy. He used to wear throwback jerseys. Guess that made way too much sense.

Volare 02-04-2009 04:46 AM

So by WWE logic...people only remember things on RAW/Smackdown!/ECW for a week. Because it's sad when my 5 year old cousin is yelling at the tv and I quote. "That's FU not that other thing stupid!"

Oh yeah, I was drinking already for an hour when he did that too...couldn't stop laughing.
