UFC Ultimate whateveritis tonight...*spoilers I guess*

Josh Neer is sick. Real aggression, pushes the pace, and frankly just owned Mac Dansig. I don't think I have seen the guy in a boring fight. I am a fan of the dentist.

Back to spike.

Velasquez is so good to watch. Amazing fighter. Stoynic, he was tough, but a pile of crap really.

The stoppage in the Grice/other dude fight was appauling... these refs in the indepentant commission states suck accross the board. if the guy on his back, is turning his hips, and extending his legs, he isn't finished. Probably the worst ref stoppage i've seen in UFC.

Worse than Coleman getting stopped WHILE going for a takedown on Shogun?

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-08-2009 03:52 PM

I actually agree with you on both accounts Fabien.

Dennis "The Menace" hasno skill, is really fat, but good god can he take a shot.

And the reffing was very atrocious. Overall a great show though, when every fight has a definitive finish, you cannot really complain.

Josh Neer is a bad, bad, dude. In a bad way. I hate his attitude, but god can he scrap. That was definite FOTN.

Lauzon looked pretty good, weathered Stephen's little storms and tapped him out.

Anthony Johnson has potential coming out of his ass. Great kicks in that fight.

Cain Valasquez is too small for the hw division to ever be champ. But he seems too big to cut weight. If he fought Brock he'd be fucked, because Brock's just a bigger wrestler so hed nullify anything Cain could do. And well, we see what's happened every time Brock has made contact with someone with his developing striking. It's almost unfair for him to be that big and that explosive. It makes me think the division should be split.

Yeah, because Coleman was fucked at the time. He could hardly stand. This was the first big shot this guy took, and he was trying to scramble. It was the exact same thing that happen the other way round earlier on, and Veach took 5 or 6 times the ammount of shots, and was defending less. It was bad.

I think Velasquez would probably suprise you against Lesnar. Brock's size has got to apprehend him when he fights a hugely skilled fighter. And he will probably add muscle to his game. I would say right now, he is a better striker than lesnar.

you mean yesterday

Technically he is a way better striker than Lesnar. Like leaps and bounds better. But the problem is, Brock carries such a ridiculous amount of power in just one strike, that Velasquez could feasibly blitzkrieg him with strikes, and Brock is so big it wouldn't drop him, and then BAM one shot from Brock and it's like "where the fuck am I?". I'm not sure whose wrestling credentials are better, but Brock is just much bigger, so it would negate Velasquez IMO.

It's like Fedor vs. Arlovski, Arlovski was clearly the better technical striker in that fight, but then BAM one mistake, and it's ktfo.

Reavant 02-08-2009 08:13 PM

I hate to say it but I find it hard to believe that theres really any heavyweight out there that can beat brock other than fedor. Brock's striking is good enough to keep it up against a guy that could beat him on the ground and his takedowns are fast and strong ebnough to put anyone that could knock him out on their back.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-08-2009 11:12 PM

I could even see Fedor losing to Brock which kind of bothers me.

Reavant 02-09-2009 12:08 AM

no hes well rounded enough in every area that brock wouldnt be able to handle it now but in a few years it wont be good

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-09-2009 10:56 AM

Yeah. I feel if they fought in the next while Fedor would use the strategy he used against Sylvia and swarm him right at the beginning of the fight and Brock wouldn't know what would have hit him and the next thing he knows, he's being tapped out.

Funky Fly 02-10-2009 12:57 AM

Lesnar should just F5 people. I would mark out for that... Lesnar rocks someone, shoots in, F5, fight stopped. It'd be worth the DQ IMO.

Savio 02-10-2009 09:46 AM

Why would it be a DQ?

Reavant 02-10-2009 11:49 AM

as long as he doesnt spike him, it wouldnt be
