Alice in Wonderland

Tim Burton style

before you click on the link, take a wild guess who got cast as the Mad Hatter

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1014759/

Kalyx triaD 02-16-2009 12:49 AM

Cool.

Fox 02-16-2009 12:56 AM

Could they have found a more bland Alice?

Jeritron 02-16-2009 12:56 AM

Yea, they announced the cast a while ago. I think Johnny Depp was attached to this since a few years ago.
I dunno, maybe it will be good. Tim Burton is very hit or miss. I wish he'd stick to originals, rather than remakes.

Don't recall Alice being anything out of the ordinary. In fact, Alice being bland would be ideal.

thedamndest 02-16-2009 01:24 AM

I'm pretty interested in Alan Rickman and Crispin Glover.

Supreme Olajuwon 02-16-2009 02:36 AM

Yeah the characters Alice encounters are supposed to be outrageous and completely contrasting Alice's demeanor. Bland is fine.

Triple A 02-16-2009 02:53 AM

Crispin Glover

Don't get too excited until we get a trailer. Planet of the Apes was gonna be awesome, too.

ClockShot 02-20-2009 03:16 PM

And of course Mrs. Burton gets a part.

I'm digging this.

ron the dial 02-20-2009 03:39 PM

i am looking forward to this

ron the dial 02-20-2009 03:41 PM

hell yes alan rickman

#BROKEN Hasney 02-20-2009 04:56 PM

Wasn't this going to be based off American McGees Alice?

Alan The Rapist 02-20-2009 05:25 PM

Being Tim Burton, that won't matter.

Downunder 02-20-2009 08:09 PM

Alan Rickman is the man - but I don't like Tim Burton very much.

Marilyn Manson is also working on a rendition of Alice in Wonderland.

Spoiler warning: Marilyn Manson's version is shaping up to be a big pile of dogshit.

Isn't it not a spoiler if we already knew that?

I don't know. The way people around here like to post old ass news, I figure at least a handful of you guys have been living in a bomb shelter for the past decade or so, ala Brandon Frasier in Blast from the Past. I'd hate to break somebody's heart if they were expecting the next Marilyn Manson "I'm so artistic and unusual, please look at me" vehicle to be anything short of self-fellating pig semen.

Hornicane 02-21-2009 01:02 AM

Anyone expecting it to be anything short of self-fellating pig semen deserves to have their heart broken.

American McGee's Alice struck me as a fantastic concept when I heard about it, and Tim Burton directing an Alice in Wonderland in that style is a pretty good fit. Burton is overrated as fuck, and he's got a good cast. I wish Johnny Depp would take a break from Burton, though. Depp does his best work away from him, it seems. Whenever Burton and Depp team up, Depp has to dig into his starpower to sustain the role.

But yeah, bland is fine for Alice. Helena Bonham Carter seems like perfect casting for the red queen.
