Somebody tell me all about Fire Pro Wrestling or whatever that game is called
I actually saw it on sale in a store for the first time ever the other day (PS2) and I almost bought it. It was ridiculously cheap. Thing is, I doubt my PS3 is backward compatible. What's so great about the game? It looks cartoonish, but I've heard awesome things about it. SELL ME.

Honestly, the edit is insanely deep (as seen in those videos) and it's great for simming. Some people only sim, but I mainly play, and it's really great to play once you have the game down. You do need to 'work' once you've perfected everything, though, but you can have pretty great matches and some really awesome spots.
Basically, people go apeshit over it because of the simming and amazing edit mode. Though unless you want to create everything yourself, it's best to have a transfer device. |
Despite the 2d appearance, the matches themselves are a lot more realistic, in terms of pacing and psychology, than any american wrestling game.
There was a huge thread on this a while back, with lots of exdplanations of why it's great. Gonna go find it. |
Also,

Also, wtfI can't find the spinneroonie for my Booker T. Where the hell is it?
|
I don't have the latest one, as I just got into the series recently. I have a gameboy Advance emulator and have Fire pro Wrestling 2 and Fire pro Wrestling A. I thoroughly enjoy them both, although the controls did take some getting used to.
Very good series :y: |
Yeah, shit is bonkers. Great game but the menus are ass backwards from a design standpoint. You'll figure it out after a little while tho.
|
Basically, it's great but you won't have the time for it.
|
If you have a 40 gig PS3, it's not backward compatilble.
|
What do you guys mean by simming in the game? I never understood that. And that looks fucking awesome for a PS2, gameplay wise.
|
Basically tweaking their attributes so they'd wrestle realistic matches CPU vs CPU.
|
I have an 80 gig PS3. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN????
|
Well, I just read on the box that it won't play PS2 games. This makes me sad.
|
Weird, I thought only the 40g were incompatible.
|
I would say this game is worth buying a used PS2 for tho. Can prolly find them pretty cheap.
Like, I have a 360 and PS3 but I play this more than anything. |
Are all those logos and everything already in the game? Also, I think I might be able to find something in the Playstation Store to make my console backwards compatible. I might do it just for this game.
|
This game is almost unplayable on a high def TV tho, FYI.
The gameplay is Timing based, and because the game wasn't made for high def, it creates a delay between your input and whats on the screen. On a regular TV, I can dominate on the highest difficulty. On a high def, I can't win one grapple n the easiest. And the logos aren't in the game. You need an AR Max, which alows you to download stuff off the computer, onto a memory card. |
Yeah, the HD thing is ass. I had to switch to play this on PCSX2 on my PC instead to get around that.

I have a hi def TV. Man, still torn on this.

There are 56789746903876 games for PS2 that fucking rule. This is one of them. Just go get a second hand PS2 and a bunch of games at Gamestop/EB Games and pick up Fre Pro while you are there. So worth it.
|
Plus I use component cables on my PS2. Looks a lot better.
|
Yeah, I don't seem to have any issues between my PS2 and my HDTV with the component cables.
|
You have a kid, a job, and a life.
You will not have enough time to play this game. |
A KID???? wow, congrats. how late am I on that?
|
oh and awesome game. I played for about 2 weeks and then my brother took his PS2 to college and never played again :(
|
This game rules. Unfortunately I don't get to play much, only on weekends when I go to my dad's and he has his PS2. Need to download an updated roster patch, the one I have now is probably from like Summer 2007.

Funky, has your TV got a "Game Mode"? I just turned it on and the timing is now tight as a motherfucker.
|
Right but this is a game where you edit the crap out of and you wont have time for.

YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH TIME I HAVE, ROXER!
I think I'm going to buy it just to spite Joey, now. |
Making your guy will take a long ass time, but there is no story mode or circuit mode or whatever, so you can go 1 or 2 matches per sitting and no be like Roxer.
