Heel vs Heel

So many times have we seen a face vs a other face at a big ppv. Has there ever been a heel vs a other heel angle? THe only thing I can recall was when the tag team of Carlito/Masterpiece broke up and the crowd refused to cheer for The Masterpiece. But he was still technically a heel.

Have there been any?

HHH vs Angle, late 00, early 01.

Reaching back a ways, there was a Shawn Michaels/Rick Martel feud leading into Summerslam... 92, was it? The one in England.

Also, the whole Ministry vs Corporation bit was technically heel vs heel.

Edge vs Randy Orton.

The Rated RKO broke up and they had an awesome opening contest on Raw. Edge speared Orton for the pin and boy the crowd was divided. Just loved that match.

Theo Dious 02-21-2009 03:29 PM

Also, even though Brock was turning, the initial Lesnar/Big Show feud was heel vs heel.

JBL vs. Kurt Angle on Smackdown! was da shit. I can't remember how many simultaneous suplexes Angle hit Bradshaw. The drug policy wasn't a major issue back then.

DX vs the Hart Foundation was a heel vs heel feud

technically HBK vs Bret Hart at Survivor Series was a heel vs heel match even though it was in Canada

Christian Cage vs Kurt Angle. Christian was heel when that fued started last year.

Vastardikai 02-21-2009 04:07 PM

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin took part in many "Toughest Man in <insert place here>" matches, which were heel vs heel. (Austin had just had the match with Bret at Survivor Series, and the fans were starting to cheer him, so they used this as a test run.)

The Mothaship (WCW Saturday Night) had a few "Battle of the Bullies" which was heel vs. heel. They also had some "Battle of the Underdogs" which was jobber vs. jobber. Most significant about those matches were one guy by the name of Robbie V wrestled and won some matches. He would go on to have minimal success as Rob Van Dam. But that's nothing new to ya'll.

Love that match.

Carlito was the face in the feud with Chris Masters, for the record. He's been a face ever since then, actually.

mike adamle 02-21-2009 06:03 PM

...santino/carlito team was heel last year

Anybody Thrilla 02-21-2009 06:08 PM

Oh yeah. Forgot about that. Either way, Carlito was the face in that feud.

I'm sure Carlito was a heel before he left RAW. But someone already beat me to it. But I do seem to remember being confused about Masters/Carlito. I think they may have thought about turning Masters face, didn't they? I truly can't remember.

NeanderCarl 02-21-2009 11:20 PM

Carlito turned heel on Flair.

HHH vs Steve Austin at the October 1996 PPV was heel vs heel (can't remember the name of the show... MAYBE Mind Games... too lazy to look it up).

NeanderCarl 02-21-2009 11:21 PM

Ah, it was In Your House: Buried Alive... just remembered, as the main event was Mankind vs Undertaker in the first ever Buried Alive match.

NeanderCarl 02-21-2009 11:25 PM

King Mabel vs Yokozuna on an IYH PPV at some point in late 1995, which was one of the worst matches I've ever seen... that was heel vs heel.

NeanderCarl 02-21-2009 11:26 PM

Owen Hart vs Faarooq for the IC title at Ground Zero (Sept 97) was heel vs heel.

NeanderCarl 02-21-2009 11:29 PM

King Haku vs Harley Race at the first Royal Rumble... boy, they're all coming to me here...

NeanderCarl 02-21-2009 11:30 PM

Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart in Montreal, Survivor Series 1997... yeah, I know Hart was beloved in Canada but as far as non-Canadian fans were concerned, it was heel vs heel.

NeanderCarl 02-21-2009 11:32 PM

X-Pac vs The Alliance

JT 02-22-2009 12:05 AM

It's kind of funny...I remember reading something by Lance Storm awhile back about heel vs. heel matches not working or never being a good idea, yet look how many got listed here.

Anybody Thrilla 02-22-2009 12:26 PM

Not THAT many were listed. I'm sure we could probably list a FEW more heel vs. face matches.

Loose Cannon 02-22-2009 12:55 PM

Wasn't Midnight Express vs Four Horsemen heel/heel? Or were the Midnight's faces at this point?

Fox 02-22-2009 01:44 PM

Benoit/Malenko vs. Raven/Saturn was heel vs. heel.

Wrong, Lesnar turned Face after No Mercy Hell in the Cell with Taker.

Heel VS Heel can only be done with two wrestlers that can have the crowd eat out of the palm of their hands due to their wrestling/ work ability. Thats why we have seen HBK/Martel, HHH/Angle, and Orton/Edge.

Krimzon7 02-22-2009 02:49 PM

great call Legend Killer. I only have one thing to add to that...

LEGACY, that is all.
