Greatest match from the Monday Night War era.

RAW or Nitro match only.

Go.

Loose Cannon 02-22-2009 09:45 PM

first match that popped into my head was Foley/Rock when Foley won the Title

second would be Hogan/Goldberg followed by Luger/Hogan for the Title

good fucking times

Kane86 02-22-2009 09:45 PM

UHHHHHH

Mankind vs The Rock
Goldberg vs Hulk Hogan
But there are way better ones then those two. I just can't think of them right now.

Arashi Kage 02-22-2009 10:48 PM

Hogan vs Nash, where Hogan won with the finger poke. :shifty:

Juan 02-22-2009 10:49 PM

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Vince McMahon

The Optimist 02-22-2009 10:56 PM

When was Luger vs. Hogan?

Haze 02-22-2009 11:05 PM

gotta go with Hogan vs Goldberg...that was just epic.

Loose Cannon 02-22-2009 11:07 PM

1997, right before the Road Wild PPV

Supreme Olajuwon 02-22-2009 11:09 PM

Goldberg vs Raven for the US title was pretty great

Mysterio vs Juventud vs Psicosis vs Blitzkrieg for the Cruiserweight championship was unbelievable especially since Rey didn't win

Loose Cannon 02-22-2009 11:10 PM

Goldberg/Raven; good one.

lot of heat

jerichoholicninja 02-22-2009 11:11 PM

Off the top of my head that havn't been mentioned...

Mankind/Steve Austin vs. Kane/Taker HIAC
I didn't see this live but have it on the Best of HIAC DVD. There was very little match but it was great story and action.

Rey Mysterio vs. Ric Flair for the WHC
Someone else won the lottery to face him that night and gave it to Rey. You knew there was no way Rey was going to win but the mark in you thought he could.

Supreme Olajuwon 02-22-2009 11:12 PM

Watch this and try not to drool

jerichoholicninja 02-22-2009 11:12 PM

Also, just about any Cruiseweight clusterfuck was pretty damn good too.

Legend Killer 02-23-2009 12:16 AM

Cannot say I have an answer, did not start watching wrestling till October 1999.

SmackDown! Guest Starring Arnold Swarzeneggar

Fox 02-23-2009 12:51 AM

DDP (C) vs. Sting - World Title - April 26 1999

Sting won the belt off then one-day Champion DDP, only for Page to win it back later on in the night in a 4-way between themselves, Goldberg and Kevin Nash.

Theo Dious 02-23-2009 01:15 AM

There was a pretty sweet match between a face HHH and a heel Rock at some point, not really sure when it was. HBM was the heel comissioner at the time tho.

Jeritron 02-23-2009 02:25 AM

Yea there were 2 of those. Both were great. One was a regular match for the title and Test did a run-in debut.
The next was an I Quit match, and Chyna swerved into the corportation.

Both were pretty great at the time. Haven't seen either lately

mike adamle 02-23-2009 02:47 AM

cant believe no one said the owen tribure on nitro, the match between bret and benoit was pretty piff

The Optimist 02-23-2009 03:19 AM

Mysterio vs. Flair was so vicious. Rey had so much energy that day.

Kane86 02-23-2009 06:16 PM

THe ladder match at Starrcade 2000 between the Jung Dragons, Three Count, and Evan Karagis and Jamie Knoble.

Kane86 02-23-2009 06:17 PM

Kevin Nash vs Goldberg at Starrcade 1998

Zen v.W.o. 02-23-2009 06:20 PM

Are we going for impact here or just basing this off a great fucking match?

Because Owen/Bulldog for the euro title in the tournament final is probably the greatest raw match ever.

Fox 02-23-2009 07:58 PM

Cactus Jack, Too Cool, Rikishi and The Rock vs. Triple H, X-Pac & The Radicals (Benoit, Malenko and Saturn) was also a very good match.

Kane86 02-23-2009 10:59 PM

Undertaker vs Mankind No Holds Barred on Raw i think it was from the '96. Where Mankind went head first through the annoucers table.

Hanso Amore 02-23-2009 11:20 PM

Foley winning the title.

Nicky Fives 03-03-2009 07:51 PM

either Owen/Bulldog for the European Title or Foley winning his first WWE Title.... Stone Cold regaining his Title from Kane the day after KOTR 98 was good as well

Triple Naitch 03-03-2009 07:54 PM

Dean Malenko vs. Rey Mysterio for the Cruiserweight title July 8, 1996

Also, Austin/Michaels vs. Owen/Bulldog was unreal.

Mercury Bullet 03-03-2009 11:45 PM

Goldberg/Hogan, Goldberg/Raven, and my surprise pick.... The Rock vs. X-Pac when HBK turned heel after his return.

I think that second one was on Sunday night heat.

Mooияakeя™ 03-04-2009 04:19 PM

Wow the days when the title could actually change hands on a weekly show. The IC belt was defended and used....

Seriously, cannot even comment. Too many good memories and there's great moments I can't remember too so I'd be in a wrong state of mind to comment.

Any links to these class matches would be awesome.

#1-norm-fan 03-04-2009 04:23 PM

Jericho and Benoit vs. Austin and Triple H for the tag titles back in '01.

One of the best tag matches I've ever seen.

abec 03-04-2009 04:32 PM

Jericho vs HHH in his 'first' heavyweight title win.

Kalyx triaD 03-04-2009 04:40 PM

Too busy flipping between USA and TNT to watch a whole match.

Damn, you really missed on some great matches.

NeanderCarl 03-04-2009 05:31 PM

HHH vs Jericho
Austin vs Benoit
Hogan vs Goldberg
Mick Foley vs Terry Funk
The Giant vs Ric Flair (World title match, 1996)
A lot of the cruiserweight matches on Nitro in 1996, too numerous to mention, lots involving Misterio Jr vs Malenko
