How....Did...The best Heel in the WWE become...

Vickie? She started as a charity case. They were throwing Eddies widow a bone.

And now she is the best heat machine I have seen not named McMahon since Bobby Heenan.

How?

BigDaddyCool 02-23-2009 09:39 PM

She is simply the best heel I've ever seen. Her voice, her mannerisms, just everything. She reminds me of that really bitchy manager that everyone has at their first part time job out of high school. She does it even better than Stephany.

Juan 02-23-2009 09:39 PM

It's probably the god awful voice and the fact she starts every promo with "EXCUSE ME!"

Triple Naitch 02-23-2009 09:41 PM

I can't explain it. She just is. It's a phenomenon.

CSL 02-23-2009 09:41 PM

The relationship with Edge, her facials, her voice, the catchphrase catching on, just connecting with the audience

Perfect example of how simple things can be

Exactly

Hanso Amore 02-23-2009 09:47 PM

Like A Perfect Storm of Heat.

Seriously, anything she says.....wow...

The Fonz 02-23-2009 09:52 PM

EXCUSE ME!

She's an awesome heel because she's "fucking" Edge, she's whiny and in charge. It's a giant hate machine of awesome. Does Hector Guerreo have a wife? TNA should try that gimmick out on her.

mike adamle 02-23-2009 09:56 PM

she's not an awesome heel, everyone just hates her, legit

Vickie is the goods. I can't believe I just typed that, looked back at it, and didn't delete it.

IC Champion 02-24-2009 02:05 PM

i would so have sex with Vickie.

Team Sheep 02-24-2009 02:27 PM

In her defense, she has lost a bit of weight recently :naughty:

Dorkchop 02-24-2009 02:28 PM

I've noticed over the past few months how much heat she can generate. Did anyone think she'd ever become this awesome? I know I was completely against her being put on tv... well I wasn't against WWE hiring her because of what happened. I was against her being a GM.

Seriously. Vickie is awesome.

Krimzon7 02-24-2009 02:49 PM

This would definitely fall under the 'boy did we get lucky with this move' category for Vinny Mac!

RGWhat316 02-24-2009 02:55 PM

I know a few people who have asked my "why did they hire Vickie, she is so annoying?". And I told them, thats why. She can really generate heat like no one else, its really kind of amazing.

Volare 02-24-2009 03:29 PM

Alright, but if Eddie were still alive (god rest his soul) and in Edge's shoes, could she still pull this off?

BigDaddyCool 02-24-2009 03:34 PM

Not sure. Eddie isn't the manipulator Edge is.

Funky Fly 02-24-2009 03:35 PM

Probably, Eddie was a heat magnet when he wanted to be. You ever see the silent promo he did a few years back?

Haze 02-24-2009 03:38 PM

I have never really liked her because I always felt weird about that fact that she has kind of profited from Eddie's death.

Jeritron 02-24-2009 04:03 PM

"Excuse me!" is brilliant

Yeah but she did lose him and a million dollar or so a year income. And I don't think I've ever heard her say his name (but I also haven't watched an episode of Smackdown for about 2 years)

I agree, when her husband died from drugs, she should have gone broke, become a penniless begger trying to scrap together enough to get something on the table for her kids, the honest way. Not this working for a living and earning salary and becoming one of the top heels in wrestling, no that is digusting and sleazy.

Jeritron 02-24-2009 04:16 PM

She should profit from his death. It's not like she's cashing in off it in an immoral way. It's a job, and she does it well. Eddie isn't talked about anymore for storyline purposes. It's simply Vickie and Edge, and if the things suggested get her heat then oh well.

I don't see how this job is any worse than families that lose their father in tragedy collecting proceeds and donations.
There's nothing wrong with either.

Jeritron 02-24-2009 04:17 PM

I also am of the mind that the lifelong wrestling community is of a different mindset than us. Cheap heat and storylines probably don't offend them or matter to them as much. The way I see it, if Chavo, Rey and Vickie can be okay with certain things, then who am I to disagree? It's not my family or life.

BigDaddyCool 02-24-2009 04:41 PM

Fuck Rey, if it doesn't bother Chavo or Vickie, then you should be ok with it.

Hell, why should we value Eddie's life any more than he did?

He didn't value his life by getting clean off drugs?

Look at Eddie in his ECW/WCW days and look at Eddie before his death in WWE and tell me he wasn't on roids.

BigDaddyCool 02-24-2009 05:14 PM

Even if he was clean by the end, the damage was clearly already done.

The Fonz 02-24-2009 05:33 PM

I understand that, and he was a bit big by the end, but I'm sure there are tons of wrestlers that still take roids/did (do) drugs, but I'm sure they, and Eddie cared about their life.

And I think he'd be happy with what Vickie was doing, better this than bumming off Chavo for a buck.

CSL 02-24-2009 05:35 PM

Chavo wishes he had a buck to bum out

NeanderCarl 02-24-2009 05:52 PM

It doesn't matter whether employing Vickie was a guilt move on WWE's part, or whether Vickie accepting the job was 'cashing in' or profiting from her late husband's name and notoriety (no doubt it most certainly was) the fact remains that during the last couple of years, Vickie has actually started earning those paychecks. She does a very good job, irregardless of who her husband was or what became of him.

That was vintage Eddie Guerrero, using those modified steroids, working himself into a controlled frenzy until the damage was already done.

FourFifty 02-24-2009 06:08 PM

EXCUSE ME!!!!!!

Seriously, she's they greatest non-wrestling heel in modern history. Team her up with Hassan and there WILL be riots.

We all know she got her job over he late husband's dead body, and for a while we were all okay with that. Eddie left behind a family, and the McMahons were doing the right thing and helping Vickie out. As a bland face I'm sure we were all saying "Cut her a check and get her off my tv, she's boring!" Turning her heel was the greatest thing to ever happen to her.

parkmania 02-24-2009 06:40 PM

The only problem I have with her is:

Yes, she is the most over heel. BUT SHE DOESN'T WRESTLE. The only person even CLOSE to her heat is Jericho. Even Edge doesn't garner as much heat. The best heat SHOULD go to a WRESTLER, but it really isn't currently, and that's pretty sad, IMO.

The whole point of non-wrestlers is to supplement the show. McMahon was a heat machine when his character debuted and he used it elevate heels by associating them with him. They're doing the same with Vickie. If you can get more heat with a non-wrestler, why not do it?

NeanderCarl 02-24-2009 08:06 PM

Yeah, that's the ENTIRE philosophy behind heel ringside managers.

That is part of the reason she has some much heat. She is a woman that isn't a wrestler and on top of that milks injuries. There for anyone that touches her looks like a bully and she knows it. That is part of how she gets some much heat.
