Being young at the time I was a big Goldberg mark, but that was then and this is now.
Looking at both of their work, its safe to say Macho blows Goldberg out of the water. Goldberg was the streak and nothing more. Macho was the complete package and could probably out wrestle G-Berg blindfolded. Macho gets the vote..OOOHHHHH YEEEAAAHHH |
Goldberg was good, but not great. He could draw, but not carry a company. Macho Man could.
How does Better Wrestler get a sticky, but SPECULATE THE RELATIONSHIP is relegated to the bottom of the page? Outrageous.
Macho Man, no question. Goldberg was a flash in the pan. Savage was all around awesome.
OHHH YEAHHHH |
lol that exact picture was my desktop background for a little while
I think some people will underestimate how close this maybe should be when making a decision. I mean, Savage is the superior worker by far but Goldberg, with the right opponent, was one of the most entertaining, explosive and fun guys to watch. Ever. He was green as fuck but took what he had (which wasn't a lot except a good look and shitload of presence) and fucking ran with it. And 1997 through 1998, Goldberg was more over than Savage ever was. But as Heros Welcome basically said, Savage's overall long term body of work blows Billy's out of the water. So Savage. But not by a mile.

I smell another landslide victory for the 'Mach
I feel like I'm talking to a wall.
Goldberg. :D
Dunno really, never saw much of Savage's work, and obviously as CSL, I was caught up in Goldberg-mania in '97 and '98, so didn't pay any attention to Savage. Overall Macho Man is clearly superior in the ring and on the mic, but looking back I have a lot more memories of Goldberg than Savage, so meh. |
Also my vote totally doesn't matter anyway coz like Juan said, this will be another Landslide.
I'm going to be surprised if Savage doesn't make it to the Hall. My vote goes to him again.
ditto RGS, ditto.
Dude...Goldberg? This is such a squash!
I think Goldberg might be the best character in the history of wrestling. He drew so much money for a long time. His pressence from leaving the dressing room until the final bell was more exciting than any segment of any show. He did exactly the same thing, every time he was booked and it was still exciting. He pretty much didn't do a promo for the majorty of when he was really over, and it was still exciting.
Everyone knows Savage was outstanding in the ring, but did he bring a great match out of everyone? I don't think so. Did he even put in half of his potential to most matches? Deffinately not after he dropped the title at WM5. I find savage on the stick pretty much annoying. Only Goldberg, Austin and Rock have really ever given me that buzz that is the intention of Pro Wrestling. It's a bit of a marky statement, but fuck it. It is fundamentally there to jack you up and excite you, and I think Goldberg did that better than Savage. So I am saying Goldberg. |
Well said. :y:
Savage.
Definately Savage. I hope he ends up going all the way, as he should. Truely one of the greatest of all time.
Didnt take long to decide that one.
What's funny is if this poll was held in 1998, even among this "smark" community, it'd probably a Goldberg victory
I would have still voted Macho Man, but I think you're right.
