Why is Kane ALWAYS cheered?
 

Something that has always bugged me is that no matter what Kane does, people go right back to cheering him next week. He BURNED JIM ROSS ALIVE, stalked Rey, raped Lita, shocked Shane's testicles, tombstoned Linda McMahon, and has done tons of other bad heel shit...yet crowds forget that and cheer him on as he fucks up Rey Rey.

I wouldn't say those are bad heel things. I would say those are more B-movie monster things, and I don't know about you, but I almost always want the monster to win and kill as many people as possible in those movies.

The problem is that his stories are usually too monstrous to be taken seriously. Kane is a pretty good big man (which I imagine helps his cheer situation) but he's had no reason to get better over the years, as say, the Undertaker has. I'm not saying Taker's storylines are 100% serious, but they've done a good job of changing him from a zombie to the Demon of Death Valley, who is a man who plays mind games with his opponents and is a very competent wrestler now. With Kane, not so much.

So his cheers are probably a combination of seeing a guy from the Attitude era, a good big man, and pity.

Kane's just one of those guys. Great intro, toss a guy around, Chokeslam, call it a day.

Its his entrance music, the second that it goes off, business is about to pick up and you know its not going to be boring.

Kane has always had a good connection with the crowd. He's one of those guys that is just dependable enough to always get some sort of reaction from the crowd. Call it a weird sort of charisma, if you like, but it's there and I think it has something to do with his constant status as being treated like a monster (if not always an immediate title threat), and his longetivity in the business.

I actually admire Kane for being around so long that he can still play the face and heel characters so well. A lot of guys reach a threshold where they are so respected they can no longer get booed. Chris Jericho is one guy that is doing that, and Kane is another (when he is playing a heel character).

Kane seems to be pushing that threshold, though, and I think the WWE, more than ever, are letting him just be Kane, and not trying to pigeon-hold him into face and heel roles -- more specifically the heel role. If he's playing a "bad guy," he will still Chokeslam the fuck out of other bad guys.

JR doesn't enjoy universal popularity... most of the IWC at the very least ate it up when he did that.

Rey sucks.

He raped nobody. She gave it up consensually, if under duress. The man got him some. He deserves props.

These both happened right after Kane finally started to bad-ass it up after spending the large part of that year palling around with RVD. Plus, they're McMahons, so they can never be TOTALLY sympathetic.

Basically, Kane is awesome. People realize that. He appeals to that part of almost all of us that want's to smack everyone we see, including (and usually especially) smiling, happy, inoffensive people.

The Lia one was funny, because of how fast they turned him into a sympathetic character.

I want to see Shane hurt as many times as possible.

I suspect nobody cares about Linda. Bisch was kinda cheered after that, too. Not as much, not by a longshot, but still.

The last time I cared about anything to do with Kane was when he first unmasked and became the most monstrous heel anyone could wish to be. How did WWE fuck THAT up?!

Kane tombstoning Linda was fucking awesome, and she sold it better than that stunner.

Nobody dares not sell the Tombstone right.

Because Kane is the greatest poorly used wrestler of all time.

His and Shanes fued i got very entertained out of and watching him miss from the titantron elbow drop was just classic.
