I think it's a good squad, the last away game before Euro 2004(unless we play just before the tournament) and i'm pleased some new guys have got a chance.Wright-Phillips and Thompson are well worth their call ups,and Defoe's start to his Tottenham career has been good.

Not sure on Green though, but he did look decent last year and Norwich have a good defensive record this year.Walker's back in after returning to his status as the man.

Frank Grimes Jnr 03-27-2004 07:00 PM

WTF are Vassel and Heskey doing in the team. I don't think they've scored ten goals between them this season.

Shawn Wright-Phillips deserved his call-up.

Wengerland 03-27-2004 07:03 PM

It's not like we have goalscoring forwards in abundance right now.The only other forward is Beattie but he's not been great this season.

I *think* the top 2 English scoreres this term have a combined age of almost 70-Shearer and Ferdinand( ).:-\

Jacko 03-27-2004 08:03 PM

Vassell is useful, pace in abundance! Defoe should get on aswell.

Heskey well... o_O

I'm glad SWP is in the squad, he's been outstanding this season for city. Two players from Arsenal (Cole and Campbell) Man Utd (Neville, Scholes) and Chelsea (Lamps, Bridge) all are rested.. which is nice :).

Y2Ant 03-28-2004 03:37 AM

Shaun Wright-Phillips

all those strikers are crap though :o

Wengerland 03-28-2004 03:42 AM

Lampard should be in,he should be getting more games for England so that he is ready for the first team.

Rob 03-28-2004 04:41 AM

Alan Thompson should have been in the team 2 years ago.

The Mackem 03-28-2004 06:39 AM

Damnit, I'm still not getting called up

Mike the Metal Ed 03-28-2004 07:46 AM

sssssssss Walker :D

ct2k 03-28-2004 08:27 AM

Bring back Nigel Martin!

Mr. Monday Morning 03-28-2004 08:54 AM

Rob Ban Fan 03-28-2004 10:06 AM

yeah, i think Barry deserves a chance and i dont get why Jenas is in there at all.

Wengerland 03-29-2004 01:17 PM

Yeah Steed Malbranque is in the French squad...

Anyway,Beckham has pulled out but will be checked by England physio's,Wright-Phillips didn't train today so may be a doubt.:(

Stevie Gerrard has been made captain, good move imo.:y:

Also,Wright-Phillips has recovered and should play.

Mr. Monday Morning 03-30-2004 02:49 PM

Gonna be an interesting game to watch that's for sure.

Jacko 03-30-2004 05:41 PM

NOt really, England friendlis are as boring and pointless as **** :O

Mr. Monday Morning 03-30-2004 06:17 PM

No, honestly, I'm curious to see how badly some of these players f</>uck up.

It'll be like watching a car crash, you just can't look away.

Jacko 03-30-2004 06:48 PM

Okay, put it that way ^_^... cant wait :)

Wengerland 03-31-2004 12:55 PM

I reckon we've got a good enough squad to win, which shows good depth in talent.Only Swede(having seen the team) that i'm worried about causing a prob is Ibrahimovic, but i think Terry and Woodgate can mark him out of it.

I'll go with 2-1 England.

Wengerland 03-31-2004 12:56 PM

Oh yeah,what's everyone else's predictions??

Wengerland 03-31-2004 04:05 PM

1-0 to Sweden:|

That was quite poor, dominated but still lost.Poor decision to take off Terry and Woodgate and not bring on Wright-Phillips or any other keeper.Only bright spot wa Defoe really.:-\

Dazz 03-31-2004 04:07 PM

Yes but Joe Cole played well.

Phil Neville played as shit as could be expected at the back.

Wengerland 03-31-2004 04:07 PM

Cole should have scored near the end.:(

Rob 03-31-2004 05:54 PM

I love how the English media have gone on about this game for weeks only to say "it's only a friendly" now they lost. Do they say that when they get results against say Brazil? Look at Scotland, we are fu</>cking awful but at least we know it. Both England and Scotland have the same problem. They don't take "friendlies" seriously. Every other country seems to except them. Stop calling them "friendlies", play each other (home nations cup or something), don't back down to club manager, etc. They gotta do something because they aren't going to get anywhere the way they are going.

On another note - Gordon McQueen, Charlie Nicholas and Craig Burley - Numptys! The fu</>cking lot of them.

Jacko 03-31-2004 06:50 PM

Well we have fuppin muppet foreign managers, what do you expect?

Ricky 03-31-2004 07:29 PM

SVEN OUT! SVEN OUT! SVEN OUT!

Rob Ban Fan 04-01-2004 11:42 AM

I quite like Charlie Nicholas :o and ease up on Sven

Wengerland 04-01-2004 12:40 PM

Yeah, calm down about Sven. Its only one loss, when it comes to competitive games we've got a good record under him.
