The official TPWW Are the Metal Discussion
So this weekend I was watching the VH1 show "Heavy, History of Metal." And they started the discussion, which bands are metal. Now that isn't necessarily a bad thing to be not metal, but just a fact that some band get classified as metal, but there not (while some band that are metal suck). I'm going to start off with a handful of band that always come up and state my opinions:
Led Zepplin - Not metal, they are classic hardrock, but they just aren't metal. AC/DC - Not metal, sure they rock hard, and the old equation Beer + AC/DC = Party still stands true, they just aren't metal. But they will rock your face off. Metallica - Metal Kiss - Metal Rush - Not metal, more just hard rock Primus - Not metal Slayer - Metal Motely Crue - Metal Poison - Metal White Snake - Not metal Bon Jovi - Not metal Feel free to add your own, or debate me |
I wouldn't call Kiss metal.

Kiss is and isn't metal. They've done some very unmetal things, but then against they have done some very metal things. The Kiss everyone thinks of when they think of Kiss is definately metal.

Hair/Glam can be metal. Kiss became less metal over time, but the first stuff was metal.

Led Zep is heavy metal, which is a term that is actually used to describe bands that are lighter than just "metal" bands. Glam and hair are two slightly different sub-genres, really more focused on style than substance.
And no, Motley Crue is pretty much hard rock, as is KISS. Poison is pretty much the definition of hair metal. Your list is terrible. |

i refuse to choose whether bands are metal or not. instead i will post 3 metal bands that i have been listening to lately and a track by them to check out. i hope that works for you, BigDaddyCool.
